The reason that Burgundy Packard from California looks weird is because it was designed to house two headlights. Starting in 1958, cars could, in all states, legally have quad headlights. Packard, along with other budget constrained manufacturers, just tacked on the extra two headlights just to be in the trend for quad lights. Most looked petty bad. This is why I prefer 57 GM cars over 58 models because the quad lights help the already bloated look of 1958 GM cars even more bloated. When GM came out with the 59 models, they were designed with quad headlights and looked good.

So many cars ! CARZ ! So many brands ! Including plenty of orphans ! Incredible selection of american motor car history pieces. Unpopular model years too, like that '58 Packard !

A lot of very interesting vehicles, my favorite is the 56 Olds hardtop with the J 2 engine they were a strong runner back in the day.

The '61 Plymouth also had the flat steering wheel. As I remember the '61 Plymouth front brakes, each front wheel had TWO wheel cylinders each side. That was as I remember; "Full Contact Brakes". The whole brake shoe would contact the drum for 100% braking efficiency. As it was explained to me, by a '61 Plumouth Fury owner back in the day.

The 65 Marlin was still a Rambler, starting in 1966 they were American Motors Marlin. The AMC 327 goes back to the 1956 Nash. In 1957 AMC created a Rambler Rebel (silver paint) with a 327. From what I have read, only the 57 fuel injected Corvette could beat the Rebel. This person really liked 59 Fords, you really like 59 Chevys. This is a great example of how the two makes could not be any further apart in their styling (I actually like both). Great video.

Nice guy. Nice collection. Loves his Marlins. The 57 Olds was sweet. Different tastes , this guy has. AMC and Ford's. I'm not a Ford guy, so I'd be up for the Marlins and the 41 Plymouth. Great video.

Thanks for the VW Bus for info. They are still out there! I tell ya though, those Marlins! When I was in the Army in '87, I drove a VW Bug and a Cadillac hearse. I was known for liking odd cars. Another unit member showed me his original Marlin he just bought. It was nuts stock and clean! I wanted it so bad but he wouldn't take my Bug and Hearse on trade!

that essex was basically a hudson, the company was owned by hudson and eventually became a part of the hudson line. the 55 packard he said had a hydraulic suspension, ive owned a few including a 54 and 55 and never saw one with that. and the leveling system was simple a starter motor mounted on a crossmember with a ford type solenoid that would be activated with a lever, if you put a load in the trunk it would push the lever to activate the motor to raise the rear of the car, what i can't remember today is what method was used to actually lift it. i'll have to look that up.

On the 60 Fury, they called that seat higher on the drivers side the Hightower seat. It was supposed to be more comfortable for the driver. The square steering wheel was standard on the 60-63 Imperial and some other Chrysler models. I had 2 of these. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z4qsy8avZMK5Y6Q.html
