Indeed, the rot set in with the ordination of women. The same sort of twisted hermeneutic is being applied to sexuality. This is not hindsight ; many of us warned that the hermeneutic would lead to disastrous consequences; but we were shouted down by too many (including ‘Evangelicals”) in the Church of England (and elsewhere).

Way back, in the '70's, a woman was ordained Bishop. Also in the '70's what was my church affirmed abortion is okay when necessary. When is it necessary? That was so open-ended. Since I lived in NYC, I knew lots of Catholics, I became Catholic. The best decision of my life over 40. This faith is so rich with so much information , spirituality, and mysticism. I am not Anglican, but a Christian in the US. The GAFCON decisions, the courageous and elevated words spoken, the TRUTH! @@glenvere You have no organ of infallibility to define "error". Your practice of Bible as Final Authority, by it's very nature, results in each Bible Christian arriving at different versions of "truth", and continual division. 500 years clearly illustrate this.

I would say Catholicism is an African church too now. (I am a Catholic in South Africa). I have been listening to events with interest. I don't understand Wellby 's comment about women being raped, children hurt etc. What has that to do with blessing same sex marriage?

The practice of Bible As Final Authority sees every fanciful doctrinal conclusion arrived at through Bible reading; contraception, divorce, homosexuality, grace, faith, the sacraments... nothing was untouchable.

In these perverse times, when the tails are wagging the dogs, we need to keep a clear vision of where our journey is leading. If we allow ourselves to follow whatever fad and fashion the world happens to be following at the moment then we are truly lost.

In the United States, in the mid-1970s, I was in a high school history class in New York state, close to the New York City area, when a teacher taught us that one of the signs of the downfall of civilization was rampant homosexuality. It's interesting how a secular institution like a public high school could teach that, as well as having the backing of all the psychoanalytic textbooks, and then a liberal Christian wing tried to normalize it.

What planet is Justin Welby on? “ the differences are small”! ! They can’t get much bigger. Surely if 85%of the church are pulling away there is something quite big going on that he should be listening to. And not once did he suggest that voting should be Biblically based and seeking God’s glory…actually, I have no idea what he was talking about…. Well, bless the true remnant church

My marriage took place in my town of Marton , and the Reverend Mr Clegg , an English man officiated ,. I taught Sunday school at that church , My dad's funeral was held there , THE ANGLICAN CHURCH OF MARTON in NZ , has My heartfelt prayers , to STAY TRUE TO THE MASTER , , WE ALL MUST STAY TRUE !

I am a Roman Catholic and am following these happenings in the Anglican Communion very closely. We ourselves are going through the same wokeness in Catholic circles with the German Synod and the twin Roman Synod to follow. Schism is nigh.

The boil needs to be lanced completely. Given the intractability of Welby on the vexed issue that precipitated this decision, and the vote of the Bishops in support of blessing gay marriages, retention of the CoE under Welby would carry the risk that the good work done by GAFCON could be undermined or weakened. This is such a serious matter that a clean break with the CoE is necessary to eliminate the risk of reinfection by the CoE's rejection of Scriptural principles and its capitulation to the populist standards and mores of the secular world in which the Church is supposed to carry the light of Christ and the Gospel of salvation.

This is what happens when you put a Banker in charge of a church.

The Will of God requires a radical separation from sin and that means from the persistently unrepentant. God doesn't want an 'accommodation', a fudge, an agreement with the apostates. "For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial". 2 Cors 6

I’m actually quite happy to see this. Unity is only worth preserving if it’s based on truth. It’s quite clear that the Anglican Communion has already lost the unity founded on truth. Absent that, what’s the point of maintaining external structures of communion?

I’m sorry about Archbishop , but he should have stood his ground for his faith. You can’t let woke change religious traditions. Faith is already built in for all people. You don’t have to disclose your sexuality. Has nothing to do with Faith. The King means well, but he shouldn’t tamper with ancient faith. A church is for everyone rich or poor, sinners, and people who live by their faith. You don’t tell people how much money you make going to church. We don’t need to know personal life, unless personal meeting with clergy and individuals. I don’t know if Anglican Church has confession like catholic. But both faith s are similar. Not quite the same. Queen for sure be Angry at King. Not the time or place for this sacred event

Historically, the Anglican Church was established in order to bless adultery, divorce and sinful marriages of the British Royal family, starting with Henry VIII. Nowadays it is being faithful to its "ratio essendi". The only way out is to repent, reform and come into communion with the successors of Peter and the other Apostles, upon whom Jesus established His only, one, holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

The CofE are in trouble, but we all saw this coming...

At the end of the day, denominationalism cannot save anyone and is not the answer. There will be no denominations in Heaven. It just shows up division within the Church, the body. I pray that Jesus builds His church and the gates of hell will NOT prevail against it. We can't serve God on our terms. We have to serve God on His terms with the word of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as our foundation, centre, and guide in our Christian walk and faith🙏🏾🙏🏼

Well said - being a Christian in a church of denominations that continually argue and disagree is not easy.

I was appalled when the Archbishop of York said that he does not accept the authority of scripture , and presumably the 39 Articles of faith anymore. He should join the British Humanist Association I am a member of the Anglican church, but if the Archbishops are not careful , they will split the Church. It seems that this ""blessing "" is more important than the historic Christian Faith of the Church of England. GAFCON need to think about the Archbishop of York's statement as well as the "" Blessing ""

If the House is built with it foundations on the Rock, it will stand when the storms come and batter the House. If the house has no foundation (or the wrong foundation) it will Fall, Luke 6:47-49. Hebrews 10:36-39, My Righteous one will live by Faith and if He shrinks back My Soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not those who shrink back and are destroyed but of those who have Faith and preserve their Soul. May we all be Blessed.

I hope the good news of GAFCon will lead to greater things. The devil has been using the same issues to fracture historic Christian denominations around the world. Well, OK, then. I am sad to say this reflects the declining position of the UK in the world - the loss (quite rightly) of the British Empire, upsetting the Commonwealth by joining the EU, upsetting the EU by leaving it with BREXIT. The Church of England is decaying and no longer in a position to lead the Anglican Communion, just as the UK is in no position to lead the rest of the world.

I wonder if the Archbishop now has the moral authority to take a stand on the interfaith issues during the Coronation. He has compromised so much regarding the word of God, on what grounds can he resist the political wishes of the King?

I am a Catholic and i hope the sidelining of Welby makes our pope think long and hard about going down a similar line.

That's very good news

The trouble with the church of England and church in Wales is that too many of our clergy don't realise that they are servants. The followed advice from a well wisher to join the clergy is because I find it hard to preach about what I find difficult and fail at putting into practice. Too many vicars forget they are there for the whole parish not just the chosen few.

When an African is in charge this will be fantastic to watch.

@@annetmaryfamilyofficial8038 Indeed Scripture is "profitable", but not "alone-sufficient" as the heretical Protestant founders asserted. The final authority is not ones own reading of the Bible, but rather the Church. Christ established His church, and promised it would teach His truth, in His name, in every generation, until the end.

This is long overdue. The ABC and CofE have turned away from God and His Word, and have (mostly) not been listening to the voice of the vibrant, growing, orthodox Anglicans worldwide. So, they will soon be just a minor member of the communion it started nearly 500 years ago. The ABC will just be head of English Anglicans, likely to be a diminishing liberal-minded group, with liberal bishops focused on left-wing politics and green issues. This resetting seems inevitable as well as sensible. It is sad and sobering, caused by a leadership that has gone astray. I admire the attitude of those at GAFCON who are loving and generous toward the CofE, ABC and bishops, longing for them to turn back to God through repentance and faith.

God Bless Gafcon and the Global South - and let's hope and pray they come together fully in the name of God through Christ. Let's also hope and pray that the CofE finally wake up to their increasingly marred views of Anglicanism and the Bible, and that the next generation of believers move Canterbury back to the beautiful acceptance of God's perfect word and spirit - through the exoneration of the traditional family unit - and marriage between a man and woman for the purpose of having children - for the sake of all true natural beauty, decency, and thereby to reshape the government and leadership of our nations, through the teaching of the Holy Bible in all schools once again. May God's will be done. May the forces of deviance and perversion in both the secular institutions and in the various echelons of the Anglican and Catholic Churches (and thereby in godless society at large) be driven out for the sake of God and mankind. The original Anglican Communion was created out of thin air on the bones of the Catholic Church, so it is not unprecedented to create a new organism. Thinking utilitarian, it would be easier to co-opt the current structure however, when we tried this in America we were mostly sued out of existence by the American Episcopal Church who insisted on us returning all lands, buildings, and treasuries. Very few congregations survived that.

The Anglican organisation was created out of rejection of the Catholic Faith and the persecution, murder, and theft of its adherents.

Dr. Welby, authentic compassion and unity is found in Christ Jesus -- the Way, the Truth and the Life. Apart from Him, one's effort are for nought, even harmful! Faith must to be Christ-centered, not based on false notions of communion which suggests dogma, doctrine and discipline are negotiable.

So now the spiritual base of power is growing in the global south where they have a mission to evangelize the north! Of course, the Sydney archdiocese along with Gafcon and the diocese of the Southern Cross, led by former Sydney Archbishop Glen Davies, will also be key players. They are obviously focused on proclaiming Christ’s Gospel without the added weight and burden of those departing from foundational doctrines.

In the Old Testament, for the sin in question, the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and surrounding cities. In the New Testament, the Lord shed his own blood on Calvary, to save us from our sins. The Archbishop has lost sight of the Gospel. His humanistic reasoning compounds the sin of sodomy. If we confess our sins, the Lord is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanest us from our all unrighteousness.

To quote Eckhart Tolle, if you’re not comfortable in a situation you find yourself in, you have three options: 1. Change it 2. Accept it 3. Leave. Seems leaving is your only option. The Anglo Catholic’s would seem to be an obvious home for you or joining the RC brigade. You need to make a move soon as you’re confrontational actions are taking you away from your centre and detracting from your work.

Utter rubbish. The word was Love. The word was made flesh in the form of the Christ child. Jesus. To love all is above all. If you have the Holy Spirit truly in your heart, Then all you want to offer is love. And seek wisdom truth and grace from love. Jesus was love Jesus is love. Love conquers all. The scriptures are all written by fallible flawed and corrupted men. Liars and Charlatans who built their church upon those lies. The bible was compiled by committee and mass meetings and councils. And the divinity of Jesus was VOTED on at the council of nicea. The kingdom of heaven lies in the hearts of all man. And all of us white black gay, straight, high church, low church, are all brothers and sisters. Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant. We all acknowledge Jesus Christ as the risen Lord. Therefor nothing else should matter. It’s all just a distraction a tool of the devil to cause strife devision and derision. If we outcast and reject the gay community millions of gods children then we Betray God. God won’t love you for hating minorities. Jesus Christ proudly embraced the outcast rejected persecuted and judged. And he despised most despised any that judged their fellow man. We are one family one church and followers of one Nazaren carpenter. We should look to our own self Improvement and betterment spiritually but to do this we must ❤️

I was raised an Anglican, I recently left, with great sadness. My Diocese had been sneakily taken over by gay and gay sympathisers. The Bishop seemed comfortable in changing / reinterpreting scripture. For the very Rev Arch Bishop of Canterbury Justin Welby to sanctify same sex marriage is the end. Add to that the new King as head of the CofE is a naturalist and does not appear to hold the same depth of faith as his mother had. Watch out for what happens in the CofE over the next decade. I must pray harder for the Anglican Church in Australia. Please pray with me 🙏✝️😢

It’s time to return to the Holy Roman Catholic Church, the Apostolic Church that was split from.

Please pray for the Catholic Church, as the same issue is rapidly coming to a head in our Church, led by the Germans.

I can hear that Gafcon and the Global South are unhappy with the decisions of the Church of England synod and our Archbishop of Canterbury. It seems to me that there have always been disagreements about doctrine in the Anglican Communion - hence the looseness of the Lambeth Quadrilateral. I don’t understand how the language is of ‘resetting’ rather than ‘splitting’? And how does this relate to the common understanding of the historical episcopate?

I left the Episcopal Church USA a long time ago. Not that I'm not fond of it! But these changes have become too much. Will the Anglican Communion renew itself? I hope so. It won't be easy.

As a Anglican I believe in our Savior Jesus Christ and am trying to follow the 10 Commandments and love my neighbour even though I don't agree with her views ( she is again religion and believes in a higher power ). While I embrace homosexual people as children of God and accept them I do not want marriage between same sex people to be blessed in the church.

Two words, Female priest, that says it all.

No ! One of the founders of GAFCON, a ex contender for the post of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Bishop Michael Nazri-Ali, so so disappointed with GAFCON, that he left the Anglican faith entirely. Many Christian literature have reported that the COE will disappear from UK in 30 years.

Church need funds and blessing the new normal in the secular world today is an additional income. Sad to realize that the communion created by Henry succumb to the secular world demand.😢

Sorry, but for too many, who have left the Church of England, and for many who are contemplating that move, it’s too little too late. Lloyd-Jones was right, and Stot was wrong, in 1966. Anglicanism in the United Kingdom has long been on the downgrade, and its leaders - not just its bishops - have been far too retro-active and appeasing.

It is not a surprise to me that the Church of England has made this move, the writing has been on the wall for sometime now, that these so called Churches are not being lead by the Holy Spirit , but the spirit of the age. Hence why I left the Anglican Church of Canada and the Anglican Communion for a Anglican Church that I’m completely comfortable and happy in, the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada and the Traditional Anglican Church.

You guys don't get it. If an African and a Pakistani can be bishops in England, and if women can be priests, then why can't two men get married? Or why can't a Muslim be mayor of London? Or a Hindu the effing PRIME MINISTER? This is all downstream from foolish decisions you made long ago. Once you start "breaking barriers", don't imagine you can control how it turns out.

The Acrican Anglicans are the biggest in number and they're the ones wth their finger on the Bible. They preach it. We can depend on them to lead us forward.
