In this episode we are exploring an abandoned monastery that dates back to the 17th century. After World War 1, the complex was converted into a tuberculosis sanitarium. Eventually, the property was abandoned in 2013.

Hint: If you ever climb old, questionable wooden (or even steel) staircases or ladders, try to keep your feet on the outer edges, since that's where the fasteners, (nails, bolts, or in the case of steel, welds) will be, and the steps will be strongest there, in case one does give way, you'll have enough time to either step down, or up and avoid falling.
BTW that “toaster” you found in the dark room was for developing sheet film. You load the exposed frame in the basket and then dunk it in the developer. The machine regulates the temp of the developer and the basket insure you don’t have to touch the film with your hands or tongs during the development process. You’d likely use one machine for developer, another to rinse, and another for fixer and just move the basket between them all. That large sheet film you found, would fetch $$$$$ on the used market these days. I nearly had a heart attack when you said let’s look inside. Despite being expired, that film is still useful for those who know how to use it. Due to the harsh chemicals used to make it, it will never be produced again. It’s extremely hard to find, much less in that condition.
12:16 that’s cute. Waiting for mom to get back, so they can bug her for food. lol. 😁❤️

Have you guys ever looked into exploring all the abandoned remote ghost towns across British Columbia in Canada? If not check out Ocean Falls, Anyox and various 100 year old military/navy bases on the islands around Vancouver island as well as various other locations throughout the province. The youtuber Destination Adventure likes to explore these locations. Anyways keep up the great content always excited when you guys upload

Nice to see a place a bit more close to home without a massive ocean between it.😆 Nice video! Are there more video's coming from Europe?
I have a modern Necchi sewing machine I bought about ten years ago. I am absolutely not shocked that one as old and neglected as that one still works so smoothly- This thing is the highest quality thing i've ever owned. It can sew through 6 layers of demim without a struggle. I have no idea why they aren't more popular in the US, It wasn't too expensive for a sewing machine so importing costs really can't be bad.

They run off of 220/240v which we don't have it the U.S. and it's really hard to go from 120v to 240v short of calling an electrician and having a 240v outlet installed.
@jlucasound

6 layers of denim? That could sew leather. (Maybe not saddle straps, but still). I would consider installing a dedicated 220 outlet to run a machine like this. I could also unplug the dryer and hang my wet laundry outside! ;-)

@@colausbra The one I have isn't an industrial style, like that one- It's for a tabletop. It has a normal US plug, no adaptor or anything. that x-ray room looked nicer than the one i work in inside a northern canadian hospital 😂😭 (ps that’s what everyone’s chest looks like on xrays haha)

Yeah, as a radiographer, I always enjoy all the old equipment they find, and when they talk about the x-rays (or CT in this case). I can't believe the tube in that room moved so smoothly after all that time. Well engineered. I find it odd that the table had it's own dedicated tube as the ceiling unit would normally be used for both in my experience. Maybe it was moved in from a different room?

The architecture of both the old monastery and the modern hospital are so beautiful in their own ways. It's incredible how well preserved it is, I'm sure if the money was there it could be restored.
Another great one guys! The xray is fairly unremarkable. The right side has the liver under the lung and usually results in a shorter appearing lung as the diaphragm sits higher.
@Just1Nora
2 жыл бұрын
The lungs on the windows were pretty junky though. Pneumonia, smoker, something...those alveoli were pretty full of buildup.
Helluva an explore. The records left there is simply unconscionable.
@husky500cr
2 жыл бұрын
It is. My Dad was a doctor and when he retired and shut down his office, I help him move all the records to the front of the building, and he called a shredding company and a guy in a big paper shredding truck came and destroyed all the files.
The boarded off side of that stairwell 24:27 was probably because the handrail/wall thing where it goes down was too low so they closed it off instead of heighten it. Tall people were in danger of falling. Looks like jerry-building. 😉 If they close a hospital they are obliged to keep the files for a certain amount of time (it's 10 years over here), store them properly and then they need to destroy them. I can not believe that in most of these abandoned hospitals you visit no one liquidating them ever did that. You find a lot of xrays and files in most of these places.
@Just1Nora
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't know what you mean by "over here" but that sounds like the states. Most places in the states almost never go back and destroy records though. It probably requires money they don't have or don't want to spend. Law or no law if no one prosecutes them then it doesn't really matter, right? The old addage, "It's only illegal if you get caught." It's shameful.
I love the binaural audio in your recent videos. The reverb and direction makes it sound like I'm there and gives a better sense of space and the size of the rooms.
2018-2019 footage in a 2021 video Nice to finally see this stuff!
Not sure if you guys are still in Italy; the Viterbo region northeast of Rome is replete with mansions and castles empty for years. Not to mention the lakes of northern Italy that have castles that have remained abandoned since their owners died; they were vacation homes and seldom kept on record.
That scenery was next level. It was absolutely stunning!
Italy takes everything to the max. Art, wine, food, pottery, glass blowing. Its just better.
That large machine in the laundry area is a sheet folding machine. Feed sheets in and they come out folded perfectly. Pretty neat to see some modern technology there
Italian hospital are so majestic and the architecture is amazing. Great video!
The baby birds and their nest are as exquisite as the building!!
I'm from Detroit Michigan ever since 2016 it's popping up LITERALLY EVERYWHERE at some point in time. I love it😂❤

Absolutely beautiful. Would love to see more of it. Another great video!
I've been watching you guys for a while now and your videos are a great way to chill and relax while I'm building scale models. But I've always wondered what you guys do to protect yourselves at some of these places, especially the abandoned factories and things that look like they'd have the very high potential to have someone lurking around a corner. I know you've had a couple encounters before, and I hope it stays just as those have been. Stay safe guys!

Yeah it’s funny, my dad (who has never really been into exploring abandoned places) says that all the time. He always tells me to be careful because there could be a junkie lurking somewhere, but I’ve never had that happen to me. I’m not saying it’s impossible or even rare, but there’s always fewer vagrants than one might expect!
Found your channel last fall and it helped me get through school and 2020 😊
Great drone photos. Architecturally stunning.. thanks for the history of the buildings.. lovely setting in the mountains…. Beautiful in the chapel. It must have taken years to build…. Someone should restore this site…

Been watching since the beginning! Y’all are the best hands down when it comes to urbex! Keep it up
You and your adventures! Thanks to the fantastic pursuit of your passion and making it public, you will have visited a piece of the world. Well done, because Europe worked out great for you. Come back for more! :) The whole complex came out superbly. Beautiful buildings - it is a pity that they were left alone, that they were allowed to be in such a state. Maybe not bad, but the longer it lasts, the more unreasonable the renovation will be. By the way, it is also a pity that data protection has no place here - it is absurd that medical data should just lie there, as if they were meaningless pieces of paper. The same applies to the two other explorers who played with the wheelchair - urbex is not a playground, and if they have to do it, they should at least put everything back in its place so as to leave only footprints and nothing more. Let the abandoned places age on their own without vandalism and the like. Feel invited to come to Poland, where you will also find many urbex gems!
So glad the guys mentioned patient records in this episode. I've lost count of how many places they go to where these are simply abandoned, and it's horrific that even in the last 20yrs of places being left as they are, that this practice still goes on. It's just wrong that nobody involved with these errors takes responsibility. I bet once someone associated sees these videos though, that they will mysteriously disappear soon after.
Congrats on passing a million boys! Def my favorite urbex channel.

25:00 - "More restraining stuff on the floor. This was the Physical Therapy floor". Lol. So - the restraints were for all the out-of-control lunatics seeking physical therapy? Those are just braces and wraps. Like to stabilize an injury i.e. back brace, leg brace (as seen), abdominal area and such.

That Xray equipment seriously needs to be removed from there. In Brasil, similar negligence ended up causing the death of several peoples and contaminated a number of locations. You should signal that to the government.
@juandenz2008
Жыл бұрын
It's a good point, but I think the Brazil incident was somewhat different. My understanding is what happened in Brazil was thieves stole the radiation source made from highly radioactive caesium chloride from a radiotherapy machine. An x-ray machine works differently it doesn't contain a radioactive substance like that, instead x-rays are produced in an X-ray tubes by accelerating electrons through a potential difference and directing them onto a target material. In someways it could be hazardous if thieves stole it and powered it up and started messing around, but nowhere near as dangerous as an old radiotherapy machine.
@25:50 make note fellas! That's a perfect spot for catching your breath, maybe even putting up some defences, after the apocalypse... ;-) You hated those stairs? Well, so will _zombies._ Clear view for _miles,_ easily controllable/chokable entry points... great spots for traps, and half the building is one massive trap _already..._ Location, location, _location._
Absolutely stunning area and architecture. Such a shame someone can't find a use for this and restore it. Some nice drone footage too :D More vids from Europe? (UK here)
