Got as far as putting the wheels on mine last week. As soon as I get some medical stuff out the way I plan on doing quite abit to mine. Mainly make a motor mount to get decent gearing on the new motor I have for it.

It's cool that there's another 1/5 scale basher to mix things up a bit. I would say it's well priced but I live in the UK so it will be horribly expensive best part of £1000 I rekon.

That truck looked good handling corrections at 50 MPH off road! That's what the Xmaxx lacks, some handling! This truck is really surprising me, especially after seeing Thunder smash it onto pavement. Might be the truck that finlly gets me to try a Redcat.

Yes but Xmaxx being so terrible why it’s fun under 50 , this truck would be no challenge it runs too good if that makes sense, so you can push further limits

Not for me. I much prefer this to my Xmaxx. The Redcat handles much better. It lands jumps better also. Icing on top is no self removing body on the Redcat! It has wonderful, simple, and most importantly effective body pins. It crashes less but when it does there's no walk across the field to put the body on 50 times per battery pack. My 8s Outcast EXB is still my favorite large scale but once I put a bigger motor and esc in this and gear it to the moon that could very well change. My opinion wouldn't change if the Redcat cost a much as the others, being $150 less just makes it even better. Anyone looking at large scale bashers should give this rig a chance and let's support manufacturers who are giving us actual good, new rigs.

Great job! Great truck! I really dig the Vigilante, glad to hear that we may see some upgrades from Vitavon. That may encourage other companies to enter the fold too. That would be nice. While the Vigilante doesn't seem to have the carefree durability of say the Xmaxx, it appears to be a much better driving truck than the Xmaxx. More like something "in-between" the Arrma and Traxxas 8s models, which I think might be perfect. I find the Arrma's are a bit too heavy and unforgiving, and the Xmaxx too loose in handling..enter the Vigilante!!😎👌✌

Torque was always traction/center diff limited. Bigger motor just means a heavier truck that breaks easier

Agreed but xxmaxx breaks with that set up a lot I’m sure this would too bc really gets power to ground , like xrt not as durable as xxmaxx for same reasons

I wonder what gear he broke , the diffs were super light and just wet , so my guess is it got hot and than he landed on throttle. Even the ring and pinion if the trucks cooking hot it will flex more . I do hear thunders diffs from his first death ramp jumps but he says there fine and used it plenty since , I’ve also heard new xxmaxxes make the same noise so that might just be luck of the draw

Weird thing is typhon diffs never really go and theoretically the weakest . By time the pinion gear ⚙️ is skipping the ring gear is worn down , the heavy duty diffs just break teeth when rig gets sloppy

How yould rate it against a x-maxx? Durability and driving conciddered

It's too soon for real durability but the Redcat is tough. I've beat on mine and nothing broke. It drives and handles much better than my Xmaxx. It's more Arrma like handling and landing jumps. If I could only keep one between the Xmaxx or Vigilante it'd be bye bye Xmaxx.

lol I don’t understand how he doesn’t own every size lipo they make , these guys get lipos all the time some for free . Those hard cases he had will fit if you take the hard case off

They run them all way to lowest setting in LVC and also leaving battery’s charged both will shorten lipos life tremendously, I usually get over 100 cycles and the battery wires keep needing repairs before I have bad cells

Personally from my own experience (family owns a business) the younger kids are wayy better at cleaning up after themselves and are honestly more nice. It's the 40-50 year olds that are always littering and starting fights 🤷‍♂️

lol all depends on how you gear it they’re not going let every knucklehead with 800 hurt themselves or blame the truck , also no 5th scale does 55 out of the box and this is one of the cheaper ones , stick to 10 th scale of you want cheap speed buy the WOV Racing cars pretty much 8tj scale

He’s a perfect example why we get all the gimmick crap with RTRS , so they give cheapest electronics as long as they can advertise the highest speed on the box , that hobbiest going break the tv before they realize they have rtr electronics, the smaller companies are giving us the better electronics, to compete with bigger companies with bragging rights
