Hi Alex. After updating to emui 10.1, photo/video zoom toggle is only available on right side of the screen instead of both sides. Is yours similar?

Very good comparison video. There isn’t a huge difference in quality but the P40 pro edges it overall. I have been considering both as an upgrade to my Samsung S8. The lack of Google play store support for the P40 pro does bother me, even though there are ways around that. Decisions, decisions! Keep up the good work.

I remember when in one of your videos about mate 20 Pro you said that in your opinion it has better camera then p30 pro. So now you are saying that p30 pro is better than p40 pro!! So is the conclusion is that mate 20 Pro is the best huawei phone camera ever???

@@RedskullPro P40 proul dupa trei saptamani, dupa cel puti 15 instalari de google, l.am vandut. Am ramas cu p30pro si nu mi.a parut rau. Totul mergea perfect, in afara de plățile cu telefonul. Eu folosesc des, asa ca nu a meritat sa dau p30 proul, care merge super, asa ca am dat p40 pro. Succes Alex!

hello and congratulations for the review ... unfortunately this widespread blue is a bit of a feature of huawei .... do you think that over time they can solve via software? when it happens to you, could you make a comparison with night photos without using the night mode? just to understand how much light the sensor can actually capture without making the scenes completely unnatural ....

I absolutely loved your side by side comparison. By far the best P40 and P30 pro review I have EVER seen. Could you please do the same with macro shots. I am on the fence - leaning toward the P30 pro as it still supports google services. Love that P40 pro but damn - no google services is a killer. So sad. I am in Canada. Were the prices you stated in USD/Euro ect. Do you use either as a daily driver if so which one. If not - why?. Sure appreciate your video. Thank you again.

The P30 Pro has an actual Macro mode, the P40 Pro doesn't.... so it's much easier to take macro shots with the p30 pro. At the moment I use the P40 Pro as my daily phone and the reasoning... it's newer :)

I bought my P40 Pro last week, but I think I should've got a P30 Pro (still a good camera and Google Services).

Great comparison, like always. Wish you included 4k 60 fps. I have that on my poco f1 and loving it (way smoother than 30fps) but f1 needs does not have stabilisation (not even EIS) at 4k@60 so I might buy the P40 Pro than seems just amazing for the price (way cheaper than samsung/apple).

Very useful comparison but it will be interesting to me and many others if you make a comparison again, when the P30 PRO is with update 10.1. After receiving it, I personally find a difference in my phone еspecially when it comes to colors and photos in the dark.

I was pretty amazed when I saw the high ISO night shots with P40, yet the pictures were discoloured at the edges, too much red in left side, too much blue and green on right side. Night photography with high ISO will reveal all the crappy stuff related to these tiny lenses. I see the attempt of bringing phone cameras closer to what DSLR can do, but it is still not great. Lots of work to be done. Take a night shot at the highest ISO and longest possible exposure (use a tripod) and the camera will reveal all the mistakes and all the bad qualitys it is doing and you will know immediatly and understand why you have missing colors, weird shadows and all that. Shoot in pitch black or shoot the night sky if you are in area too bright for this type of exposure. These tiny sensors and lenses dont seem to like eachother :D Thanks for video!

Good grief, more than anything the camera/video is a vast improvement on the P30 Pro since I had it 👀 Also, the audio on the P40 Pro seems very muddy, like they've added some bass boost 🤔 Either way, amazing effort as always mate 👍

I guess p40 pro is slightly better as it is the new flagship but p30 pro is very close, it is cheaper and on top it has Google services. I would go for the p30 pro I think

hello, just thinking between p30 pro and p40 now: the suggestion for me to get any of them by almost the same, cheaper price (50 USD difference). I need a good , really good camera to be able to put pictures to my IG for business (pics of myself+ clothing i wear, blogger type). More likely will use portraits and main camera, i suppose.. But beautiful skin/face/clothing matters (to compete with others). + want to try to shoot aka clothing brand IG pictures sometimes. And I also depend on a few apps which depend on GMS :( ...so, in case of P40 pro i will have to keep my other phonealways with me as well. Does it worth to get p40 pro than? can I reach the quality with p30 pro +basic filter after? (to not loos glasses frames:) and details). And is it possible to use IG business version with p40 (from Huawei gallery or other app store)? So, what do you think? thanks!

If you are comparing p30 pro and only p40 (not pro) then I think definetely p30 pro. Bigger screen, better battery, better cameras. P40 pros are new chipset and video quality (4k 60fps on front and rear) thats it. And the big cons for me is that P40 is so small.

7:59 All Videos taken from P40 Pro (Wide) are washed out, or a bit blurry .. hate that. I think its a software-thing they should fix that. Thanks for the review!

I will never understand why people do the running test while filming. I had a camera on my phone since Nokia 7650 and I have never shot a video while running. You can make stable video shots with no stabilization at all. Just hold your elbows close to your body and bend your knees. If you take out the google services and add a better stabilization while running, I would probably pick the P30 Pro :)

That's simple, to test the damn image stabilization. Just because you don't always run and record does not exclude the chance of you running and recording some time in the future. Also it's not just recording, but taking photos as well, someone might push you slightly or it might be windy, the OIS should be able to withstand the circumstances. Also running is the most stressful yet realistic situation that shows the most results when it comes to OIS. I hope that made sense.

I just bought the p30 pro on Amazon in like New condition for 550 dollars, I've invested them both and I think for the price savings I went with the p30 pro. I'm really interested in the low light performance, they both have a max ISO of 409,200. Thats amazing, it's the same as my Sony a7s

What I love about Huawei is that, Huawei don't let their old Models getting old by the release of the new Models, you know what I mean. Unlike Apple devices after the release of new iPhones, your old iPhone becomes cheap. If you compare side-by-side iPhone X to iPhone 11, iPhone x don't compare to iPhone 11. Anyway, My P30 Pro is still kicking AF!

I got both phones, awsome quality on both of them 👌👌

I always find that these videos look so different depending on the screen that you watch them!

P30 Pro rocks for value (considering the price difference to P40 Pro) and night-time with main camera, ultrawide really should be only used for daytime photos and not for any kind of video. The 4k 30fps is the only shame for the P30 Pro. I myself dont see the point of front cameras being fancy as you can still take selfies with the main camera resulting to greater pictures. Optical zoom on both are good enough.

Huawei doesn't need goggle services because with their services their apps are becoming more stronger and better

Hi Alex this might come as a surprise but Huawei Night Mode is about to be deprecated because Auto Mode produces better night time shots with better details. You just gotta hold the phone until the hint disappears.

Hey, I took a few pictures without the night mode but I always find that they aren't ask crispy if I zoom in...I donno...maybe it's just my eyes!

P30 pro is really good..p40 is a bit detailed and better vid capability but i gotta say minote10 with gcam is on par with these for $399 these days

i'm not using google services on my p40pro and i-m ok with it. i have 1 app that is not working, but i sow a new that it will be ready in about 3 weeks and i'm now using the card as i can not use nfc for payments, but its not that bad

Almost every shot, even the portraits in the beginning had more dynamic range from the p30 pro, or maybe they tweaked up the contrast a little too much in p40 pro's software? And the colors look waaay to over saturated from the p40 pro. Video hands down p40 pro due to that image stabilization.

At night the video on the ultra wide is much better with the p40 pro. It is closer with the main sensor, the p40 pro has a beige cast, the p40 pro has a slight blueish cast. The p30 is better in some, the 40pro better in others. The p40 pro is better in the day in all cases, especially zoom shots. The p40 pro, though now more expensive, is the better all round package. It has 5g, 4k 60 FPS, it has 4k on the front camera, the Kirin 990 is a far more potent SOC the 980 is showing its age
