I really trust your judgement! I'm so tempted to get one, If I wasn't saving up for something else this would be my next phone! This is the best implementation of a notch I have ever seen! If USA didn't ban Huawei, they would overtake Samsung in smartphones in a heart beat! Shocking how good cameras have gotten and still getting better! China smartphones have surpassed the giants like samsung, LG, Motorola. Not just in terms of value but in tech. It's only matter of time before the world and mainstream know it. Gone are the times where China need to steal/copy designs from Apple, they are the innovators now and the rest of the market playing catch up! Great review as Always Frankie! I still say have a better intro. I want your channel to have a million subscribers!

Thanks bro! Yeah I completely agree if Huawei wasn’t banned they’d crush Samsung! Their phones are that good! I’ll see what I can do about the intro, I’ve recently explored a different logo and style but I still like my original logo as well, but definitely will see if I work on a more dynamic one soon!

I usually go for the latest and the greatest phone and give it a 5 year contract. I'm still using my HTC One (M7) and it's due for a replacement this year. I'm still in the process of selecting my next phone that I will spend the next 5 years with. I thank this channel @frankytech for showcasing all the phones in the market.

@arachniphilia whenever a person buys a phone, there is always an intention to have it for a longer time, that's why we often go for a flagship even if it cost us some money. The performance of the last years flagship is still on par with today's even if the benchmark screams for 20-40% improvements. It's still very responsive and usable. It just so happen that in the past 2 years when there was a massive Chinese takeover of technology that pushed the boundary of the current technology after it stagnate from the previous years.

Yeah their Mate 20 series is solid! Although I do feel they are getting a bit carried away with too many options in the lower end.

Does this phone have active haptic feedback when using the keyboard? Example, when text messaging, typing in the search bar, composing in the email, etc?

@@FrankieTech I have a 20x now, came yesterday. Bought the silver one(looks more light purple). So now I have the honor note 10 and the mate 20x, my China version box had same thing in box with usa fast charger. One suggestion for anyone, get a case, the camera is set out from the phone so when laid on back the camera I feel could get scratched. Only thing I am trying to figure out, how just gpu Turbo work on this phone, doesn't have button like the note 10...I feel for pubG this phone will be fantastic if I can figure out why they won't let me set HD in game, the honor note 10 plays PubG in HD fantastic. So for right now for big pubG players the honor note 10 is best.

I been saving for this phone I can't wait to buy it!

If given the choice, would you get this phone or the Samsung Note 9? I'm currently in Singapore and the price of both is very similar, and WAY cheaper than in the UK.

I can sense how much Huawei care about the customers. I mean you are more likely to drop the big phones because it is heavier and it is hard to hold the big phones with just one hand. The back texture could be just small change for the manufacturer but it really mean more than that to the customers. Performance and display is just awesome. Ah.... I wish I could try that phone, but my wife will kill me if I buy it. Haha.

All Mate 20 series have that back texture not just the X one.

Does anyone know if there is any way to use this phone with Verizon in the United States?

Trying to find good case now before it arrives. Plus where is the game pad I see for the phone for sale, haven't been able to find it anywhere.

Huawei has done so many things right lately. Battery life, super charger in the box, case in the box, adapter in the box for those who need it, cameras, processors, speakers and big screens. I'm not a "fanboy" of any brand, but I sure like what Huawei is doing here. They just need to get rid of the notch in their smaller devices. In Mate 20 X it doesn't bother me all that much but I still wish it wasn't there. I'm upgrading my Mate 9 to Mate 10 Pro because I got one pretty cheap and because I wanna try 18:9 Aspect ratio before judging it. I also want a glass back phone. And not pay too much. Who knows, maybe I'll go with Mate 20 X next year when it's cheaper. I seem to always go with last year models anyway. 😋

Hi Frankie, thanks for the great reviews. Very few are reviewing this beast. Do you know what the difference between the global version and China? I have searched the forums for answers and have only found Google is pre installed on Global, but what about hardware such as mobile bands it supports.

Thanks Ryan I appreciate it! That’s the main point between the China and the Global ROM, it’s not so much the Google apps and language support (which can generally be adjusted easily) it’s really the band support for LTE, 3G and 2G networks. The Global (Hong Kong) has almost every band you would need, that’s why it’s worth waiting for the Global version sometimes.

I read that there is a difference in widevine level. Global does support lvl 1 and China lvl 3. Don't blame me if that info is not correct :) @frankie could you check widevine lvl on your global version please?

Have had mate 10 pro for a year now. Incredible phone.

I can't resist waiting for this Huawei mate 20x, as it is with the M-Pen and cheaper than the Galaxy Note 9.. I have been using the galaxy note series since the note 3, I think this is an opportunity to try other brand similar to the Galaxy Note series but with better battery life, seems powerful and indeed its cheaper... Hopefully, in future Huawei will allow the M-Pen to be inserted into the device. Tq Huawei..

This is the Global version! It included the three prong plug used in Hong Kong which I think should be the same as UK!

Frankie, great first review! I am a big fan of large screen phones and the Mate X is the best ever! I am very tempted to import one here to California but I have a feeling the LTE bands are not going to work. Of course you being in Hong Kong cannot give opinion on that issue. Thank you for being the first to show up this great phone!

Depends on why carrier you have. It has bands 2, 4, 5, 12, and 17 to work on T-Mobile and AT&T in the states; just no Verizon or Sprint.
