I was in Chorus all four years of high school -- I begged the choir director every year to let us sing this song, and he'd say, "But we sang it last year!" I said, "But people love it!" He gave in. We brought down the house each time.

We have a tradition of singing this every year and candle light carol it’s great

I was born in a muslim family but christian choirs and gospels make me relaxed

I'm seeing other comments much like the one I am about to make. I've been searching for at least a decent rendition of this gorgeous carol, and had been coming up short. I just watched The Mormon Tabernacle Choir expecting greatness, but it was simply TOO FAST. This is perfect. Bravo to everyone involved.

Mormon Tabernacle was defnitely speed racing the song. WIsh there was a slightly longer version of song because this song is just too good.

By far best version on KZread - crisp and not drowned out by instruments, great bass vocal presence, unlike most.

Soprano's need to round out their vowels Edit: Wow… 2 years later I come back to this and EVERYONE needs to round their vowels. There’s a tenor absolutely blasting the section hell and back. NOBODY is listening to each other and they focused way too hard on dynamics which are too sudden and lack growth 😰

Same! So many others are just way overproduced and they try to hard, but my favorites are versions like this where it's all about the voices and the harmony. Beauty in simplicity

Everyone can relate to this version... memories of high school holiday concerts in our hearts again. Professional choirs sometimes are over-produced for Christmas music but this hits that sweet spot of nostalgia and feeling.

Listened to many versions out there on youtube - and without a doubt as a musician I can honestly say, it is the best interpretation of this piece I have heard. Often, a fine performance is overshadowed by a poor recording. This has a fine recording and top notch musicianship.

It is very pleasant to hear how the Ukrainian song “Shchedryk” by composer Nikolai Leontovich is being sung in America, and it is even more pleasant to realize that it has become so dear to Americans as to us, Ukrainians. It was nice to listen, thanks.

This is the best version I have found on KZread. All the other versions have instruments in them, which is missing the point of this song.

There’s parts overlaping so it will sound different to sing it like you wrote it out than to sing the actual voice parts

We are singing this in our Christmas concert for my chorus class and we have those same dresses

My grandmother had a similar version to what you sang and I can't find it. It was a little slower but you young ones hit all of the right notes. I Thank toi. Bravo Teacher

WOW! these kids are just as good as the choir in the "Santa Clause" movie with TIm Allen and those are professionals. So, that means these kids are professionals as well!

I learned this song back in the late 60's at my elementary school and have only heard 1 vocal version since that sounded like the way I remembered it. Until this one. Perfection! thank you thank you!!! btw...as much as i enjoy the great instrumental versions that are out, rarely do i hear a vocal version on the radio. Shame!

That's a difficult arrangement and you did it well. A couple of things could be tweeked, be careful of your diction and be sure to cresendo and decresendo adequately, as that is what brings the audience to the height of the piece. A properly song piece will bring the audience on a journey with you. Bravo and brava!

Im an alto and in middle school and we preform this next monday (December 16th) all the music i look at always has alto singing the “ Hark How the bell” part first and in my choir its soprano that starts baritone then joins and altos are last to join and im really confused now
