HTC clearly won this HTC forever

I remember when the htc one m8 came out, everyone said that two lenses were useless, now all smartphones have it lol

no matter how much camera you put in to a phone.. it just can't beat HTC💪💪

U12 Plus is pre-production software. Gotta wait till the phone fully comes out in June before doing camera tests.

This is not first dual camera setup for htc The first dual camera smartphone was htc one m8 😑

Jan Fric well only 4 people bought that phone. M9 was a total flop that nobody even remembered that. M9 plus was even worse.

Great comparasion. I own regular p20. Personally I prefer u12+ due to collors on daylight. But, who wants the best result on p20pro, without unnatural colors and oversharpening, just switch to hdr mode, also p20pro has killer night mode. Dxomark isn't lying...

Gandalf Gandalf HTC has the best non-chinese camera, in a nutchell, the best camera in a phone that doesn't spy on you, no offence to huawei, I have friends that for huawei phones and I Love them! But I just don't trust them so sorry for that

In most cases HTC U12's camera took better photos, but p20 pro night shots are like magic 👍😊

Lets clear something out,huawei p20 pro is for PROS,the AI Is for the ones who don.t know how to take a picture,if you compare the pro mode and night mode and zoom and that powerfull stuff p20 pro is far better.But yeah,on video is not that good,but lets wait for updates.And on the saturation or color part is all about preference,that can be edited in 2 seconds,we need detail and control over the picture.And about selfie,p20pro has a camera that makes you look good, huawei doesn't want something else over there.About 1080p vodeo,the AI stabilization is better,and the update for 4k will come soon.

I don't think we were looking at the same pictures... Huawei took better photos with a higher dynamic range more often than the HTC.

FYI, the HTC M8 is HTC's first dual cameras smartphone.

You can control the blur background on p20 pro if you choos aperture mode instead of portrait mode which basically doing same thing but you can control the blur effect as well as control where to focus after shot .. why people don't check this stuff before make a video of a device

U12+ is better. P20 Pro tends to oversaturate the colours to the point that the pictures become very unnatural. People might like those colours, but I like more natural colours for my photos. I have no problems with noise, I'd rather have noisy but detailed pictures. P20 Pro's night shots are impressive though, details aside.

Nice video, and I think I agree with all of your assessments. The portrait mode on the HTC in the dark fell apart, but I think it's because the HTC relies more on depth information, while the P20 Pro utilizes AI more. Hardware based depth information is less useful when the next objects in the frame are a quarter mile away! However, the U12 allowed you to keep BOTH your ears at 2:15 ;) I can definitely vouch for the accuracy. I have the U11, and you can snap a shot of a flower and it looks identical to the actual flower. The P20 Pro does an amazing job on reducing grain on most low light shots. Only downsides are the "painted" effect from the processing.

David hunsinger yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. due to the price, I may not be able to get the u12, but . thinking of jumping to the pixel 2 XL after this u11. But I still crave the u12. Hope that HTC gets its game on with the update and support. I find unacceptable that the u11 is still on Dic security update.

Very bad review, it is unfair. Because using 40mp in p20 pro vs regular camera is not the way you use it. 40mp is for RAW editing. And you took so many photos in wrong way. You didnt make right chose with P20 with HDR, AI and Night Mod.

Damn! Htc really worked on stabilization... Colors were a bit better on u12+ ...sharpness I'll go with p20 pro.. I think the night shot(palm tree one) was better on u12+ n the one in which there was a mansion or something(along the tree), p20pro was a bit better....bit confused with the (only)mansion pic... p20pro creeper me out with selfies..so, better on u12+.. Overall I'll go with u12+translucent blue😍😁 Although I don't have money!😂😅😭

I generally liked the P20 colors better but only marginally. I would give the U12 a slim victory as a point and shoot device which most everyone prefers.

p20 pro is the best when it comes to photo details and worst when it comes to video. U12+ is slightly worse in image details but far way better in colour reproduction and video capturing, overall who needs a triple camera phone. U12+ for life 😍

u12 in all situations except low light. between those 2 i was going for sure at htc.

the HTC U12+ has more noise in low light shots because it doesnt aggressively process the image like the P20 pro does. At 4:13 the P20 loses all the detail at the edge of the roof, image becomes way too dark and the lights near the roof just seem to only glow instead of illuminating.

Not going to lie, I wasn't expecting this at all. I actually avoided this video because I didn't want to see the U12+ get destroyed.. but boy was I wrong!!!

The quality might have been poor previously in HTC phones but the white balance of HTC phones have always been better than any other phone till date. Not even back in the day when Nokia had a 41MP sensor.

Congratulations for a great job on the Comparision! Im most likely going for U12+, because i just invested in a DJI Osmo 2 Mobile, for rock solid & smooth stabilization! And theres quite the few phones thats on Osmo 2 Compatibility List. Acually the U12+ isnt there yet, but i thought if U11 is there (which it is) then there should be a good chance U12+ works either now, or with a future Firmware Update...

Well,that was quick.This are the 2 best camera options in 2018 and we will see how they will stack up against the V series and the Note.HTC are making excellent cameras since the Htc 10 and now they are in the top along the Pixel 2 when it comes to pictures because the LG V30 and Samsung are better on videos.P20 pro it is an excellent camera and more settled than the U12 and the U12 will be even better after an update or so.That doesen't make the P20 pro camera under the top best cameras it all depends on how they will improve on the potential of the hardware.HTC 12 is loudly brilliant for 2018.Thank you for your review.

Qjemuse For video purpose HTC has much better dynamic range, good colours, better low light performance, effective stabilization and high quality audio recording over P20
