HTC U12+ Review

HTC’s skipped the U12 and gone straight to the U12+. In making this move, the company has shrunken the bezels and lengthened the screen to gain the popular 18:9 display ratio, while keeping the footprint slightly smaller than the U11+ and only moderately bigger than the...

Why don't people understand that a BUTTONLESS phone is brilliant HTC cares about it's consumers by making the longevity of the phones buttons last WAY longer now u won't have to worry about ur buttons not working anymore I hated pushing buttons but this is a true game changer not to mention makes the phone more water resistant

Gerald Why do you even care about longevity when it is essentially broken from beginning? And what now, it helps with waterproof? S9 has the same IP68 rating but with both mechanical buttons AND headphone jack. Stop defending what they did. For now U12+'s buttons are purely bad, end of story.

Gerald What I'm saying is that the buttons which don't respond in the way users want should be described as being "broken". There are shit tons of reviewers claiming that the power button is way too sensitive and frequently causes ghost press/force restart while you're holding your phones but volume up button is way too hard or even impossible to use. Yes, it doesn't fail after time, but it doesn't even function properly in the first place so there is no point of discuss how durable it can be in long run. You should read the reviews on the internet to get the rough idea of how annoying it can be. Unless HTC fixes this mess by the time it will be sold to consumer, this phone is simply not something which should be recommended to other people, especially considering that it has no feature to stand out from the rest of the market.

How many people you know have honestly ever complained about the SIDE buttons being broken? Hell, they didn't fix it, they BROKE something that shouldn't have been broken in the first place. And the water resistance argument is a joke; Samsung have implemented IP68 with clicky, tactile buttons since 2 years ago. How is this caring for their customers? You tell me.

Many here before have complained about accents, but now when we have a native speaker, it is quite difficult to separate some specific words and technical terms. I wish this reviewer could speak little slower, since we have many channels already for native English speakers. For non native speaker, it is often naturally easier to listen others who are foreign to English. About the phone: It is funny how HTC excels with the camera these days, which certainly wasn't the case some time ago, but of course they have to get something wrong, unfortunately so wrong, that I wouldn't even consider this phone over 500 €. Bulky design, no headphone adapter in the box, display is nothing special, no actual physical buttons and average battery life by flagship standards are together just no. Still nice to see HTC in the business.

...It's an incredible device by competitive standards, even more so to the die-hard HTC user, but it's too BIG! I've been spoiled by the HTC 10, and its still strong processing power, its size, on-board DAC, and the headphone Jack... I have never had any problems with Sense UI (agreed on NR on Blinkfeed, however) teamed with the TouchPal keyboard... I'm going to pass on this one, and keep rocking my 10...

Drama drama.... People need to stop crying about headphone Jack.. Like some idiots talk about lack of the Jack n later they use wireless headphones...I mean wtf!... U invest in this thing n it lasts for years...n those fancy phones lag on their first year itself (y'all know about which company I'm talking about)... Htc always makes solid devices..and they ate underrated as hell!

Well, with that LCD, no 3.5, boring front, mediocre battery they will stay "underated". Bluetooth audio is really expensive, like Sony WI-1000x is around 250 to 300$, and it sounds like way better when you plug it in 3.5 ( yes it has 3.5 cable plus). That shows clearly how inferior wireless audio is while USB C is in mess and htc is mostly proprietary. So the problem isn't just that 3.5 is removed, but that it's replacements are way inferior, messy and horribly overpriced.

abe tokii my least favourite brand is Huawei due to worst audio on 3.5 where they kept it. Where they didn't, it's even worse. Battery life is the only advantage of Huawei phones. I also am not fun of their displays.

Melbourne Dauz Nice to hear! Thinking on getting this here in Sweden 18 of June when its out! But the bad part for ALL Android phones is the Snapdragon 845 SOC overheats so easy when recording 4K (This is for ALL Android phones so not specific to U12+) But it seems a huge problem for Qualcomm... 4K video is not easy to push around....
