One thing is obvious, her royal majesty does not want Igbo unity. But curiously, she wants Anioma unity, there's no basis for Anioma unity without Igbo unity because the only thing that binds Anioma people together is their igboness. In Delta, the Anioma are politically weaker because they lack unity and in Nigeria, the Igbo are politically weaker because one third of Igbo population deny their Igboness thereby reducing the population of Igbos and giving other ethnic groups the power to marginalize Igbos. How can Urhobo be dominating Igbos (Anioma) in Delta State! In Delta and Rivers, Igbos are treated as minorities because they call themselves Ikwerre or Anioma. If they claim their igboness, they will be much stronger because Igbos from the 5 Igbo states living amongst them will boost their strength. The issue of development is a totally different matter from the issue of Igbo unity. Igbo land is not the least developed part of Nigeria; just drive through any Igbo village and then drive through any village in any other part of Nigeria, you will find that Igbo land has the best houses in Nigeria by far. What is needed in Igbo land is government presence and Igbo individuals cannot replace government presence. I don't agree that Igbos should have more kids just to be politically relevant in Nigeria. Igbos already have enough population. Half of Igbo population is outside of Igbo land and they can still vote for an Igbo candidate wherever they live after all, a presidential candidate needs 25% of votes in 24 states to win. So Igbos all over Nigeria can help an Igbo candidate achieve the 24% spread. Igbos only need to register more and come out to vote more, to make the Igbo more political powerful in Nigeria. Her royal highness needs to realize that Igbo unity is not for the benefit of Igbos in the 5 states alone, it will benefit all Igbos as all Igbo in Delta, Rivers, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, Benue and Kogi will cease to be treated as minorities if they unite.

The woman’s analysis of the Igbo man is correct. However, she does not seem to understand what makes an ethnic group - distinct language and culture. I’ve not heard of an Hausa man whose forefathers migrated to Yoruba land and founded a community argue that he should now be identified as a different ethnic group from Hausa. The example she used about people migrating from Europe to America and calling themselves Americans is not the right one. International migration is different from domestic or internal migration. In domestic or internal migration, it’s either you maintain your original ethnic grouping or you accept to be swallowed up by your host ethnic group. Further, the Americans never deny their origin or ethnic group which is Anglo Saxon, they are Europeans even though they now live in America and call themselves Americans. Also the Omu is not peculiar to delta, they used to have Omu all over Igbo land, I learnt from history that there used to be Omu of Onitsha.

You are very right bro, she is making a very big mistake of comparing international migration with a local migration, by the way what is the difference and distance between Anioma or call it Asaba to the mainland Igbos, there is no any distinct ethnic group that divides the eastern Igbos and the western Igbos apart from just river niger, I cam tell her that I live in Sweden 🇸🇪 and I have taken a ship to the Finland 🇫🇮 and most of all the island across the Baltic sea 🌊 are all occupied by the ethnic Swedish people yet in all these distance they still tell you that their Swedish people so Omu's claims here is absolutely wrong. Just few years ago she was saying that federal government should give them their own ethnic identity and I say to myself if really this woman understands what she was saying, if the Anioma people had an international migration then her points would have gotten some reasonable why, but she is absolutely out of points

Jews are Jews no matter where they are. If we come together we all will achieve our aims. All Ibo people share similar behaviour and blame. The moment we unite and speak in one formidable voice, we will get all that we want, says the Lord. Anyone fuelling divisions doesn't understand the power of unity and is still enjoying a cheap plate of porridge from his or her masters. But Ibo people will eventually unite, says the Lord. This is the first thing and there is a sense of unity that flows with this. The state lines and subsequent boundary adjustments divided us not migration. We must know who we are first so that as a family we can jointly pursue objectives. In the USA all the nationalities have a name, whites from Europe are called Caucasians etc.

The only viable way to minimize marginalization of igbo people in nigeria is the unification of igbos because when you are united you can then spea with one voice. However I gave her credit for urging igbos to invest in igboland because charity begins at home. Her Royal Majesty spoke mainly from the societal and social angle of improving Ndigbo and Igboland but tends to tilt 180° when it comes to the political angle. She seem not to understand that the wicked Nigerian government had perfectly dissected us for lesser influence. She is of the opinion that Ndigbo must face our individual territorial issues independently even if it means changing identity (using another ethnic nationality name) to solve our immediate problems. She doesn't see the danger that such portends. When we allow the plot of our detractors to persist, we shouldn't wonder why things aren't working well for us. One the one hand, she wants the Igbo of the SE to increase our birthrate for population purpose whereas she is championing the creation of new ethnic nationalities from the same Igbo to further reduce our influence. That isn't a well thought-out strategy. To understand the essence of our re- unification to the pre-war era, we must look at the situation from a wholistic point of view. Politics is the most important of all human interaction because it will determine if you survive or become extinct. It however consists of a whole lot of different actions, decisions and propositions. If the Igbo nation must survive, we must reunify still without forgetting to make solid plans and concessions to our immediate neighbours for our people outside the SE. We in the SE have a big role to play in all these which I believe she was hitting on. She shouldn't however muddle it up by promoting fragmentation. Most Igbos I believe supported the creation of Anioma state on the basis of it being an Igbo state to be included in the SE. However, when you say that you're now another ethnic group (nationality), how will you expect us from SE to promote Anioma state? Isn't that confusion? The examples of Australia, America and New Zealand holds no water here. These are new lands from far away countries thousands of kilometers apart. Anioma is just a stone throw away from the SE and as an important matter of fact, the creation of non-Igbos. Our people in Onitsha can perceive the aroma of the Nsala soup she's cooking in her kitchen. Anioma Igbos have settled in their land for over 1000 years just like us in the SE. We are authoctonous on both sides of the great River Niger. We mustn't allow strangers to put a wedge among us. The River Benue also splitted Tivland into two yet we don't hear them talking about Australia and America as a pretense for creating a new ethnic group. I however support her call for our people to endeavour and bring our industries to our ancestral land. We must see that our home land is developed. It will help the reunification process. We all owe our great Igbo nation this task. Let us stop applying centripetal forces on our fragile framework. Our survival as a people depends on it. Ka udo chia.

Anioma and Ikwerre are subgroups of Igbo tribe, just like Owerri, Onicha, Enugwu, Mbaise, Orlu, Nsukka, Ngwa etc. are subgroups of Igbo. Alaigbo (Igbo land) is one no matter where you are located. Orinmiri Ogbaru (River Niger) is just an ecological gift from Chukwu Okike (God the Creator) to Alaigbo. It is not meant to divide Ndigbo and their homeland Alaigbo. We humans create these unnecessary divisive problems for ourselves. I look forward to the day Ndigbo traditional leaders, politicians, elites, educationists, business owners, artists and actors/actresses, etc. will gather all Ndigbo together from Anioma, Ikwerre, lower Benue, lower Kogi, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and the core five Igbo States. Don't forget the indigenous Igbo people of Equatorial Guinea. The traditional rulers in South East are sold out, meanwhile Anioma people never denied their Igboness, it’s the Mother land that causing all this problems. Hope Uzodinma the fake governor of IMO State struck a deal to please Fulani’s and Caliphate, from 4th position to 1st, and Ohanaeze Ndigbo, traditional rulers kept quiet just because of money. Killing and locking up innocent agitators just because of political gain and money. MNK was betrayed by his own people, and he is being incarcerated in DSS custody, just because of money and material things in the world. Ohanaeze Ndigbo and traditional rulers can’t do anything meaningful than to keep on begging Fulani’s. Imagine Ohanaeze Ndigbo begging Fulani’s, A great Igbo race, the origin of humanity itself, GOD have Mercy on them. As far as I’m concerned, Igbo’s can’t unite politically in the contraction called zoo, this is because self-aggrandisement will over run the whole thing. Support the disintegration of Nigeria simple. Political union are different from ethnicity. In the USA, you have in the census counts German Americans, Irish American, English Americans, White Latinos, Latinos, Blacks, Italian Americans, etc. So they recognise theirvOrigins. But you can say that the original founders were of English Origin and the later immigrants from Germany, Some Irish, Italy, meet a vast English majority with some french, Irish, Scottish, Dutch, etc miniorities hence the English language. Aniomas is like the USA but the vast majority of the population 95% are of Igbos origin. In the South East there are areas the size of anioma with Igala, idoma, Ibibio, cross River miniority absorb by the over 99% Igbo majority. So anioma is not different from any other state in the SE. Australia and New Zealand is likewise, they are majority English Origin with Natives, British and some Europeans. How can unifying Anioma be by placing a section above others? How are you going to unify Anioma by having a paper saying Anioma? Is having a gazette of Anioma nationality by Abuja federal government going to create unity? Anioma state is must but the Omu is right in the aspect. Nwodo was trying to create a state in Nssuka Zone. But again elites in Anioma like the SE had no unity on Anioma state - no real high profile Anioma people came out because it was let's not Annoy Others in Delta like Urohbos, Isoko, Ijaws, etc. The SE also submitted 5 different states options and Anioma submitted too. But the whole thing was not strategic by SE , Anioma and Nwodo. Did Anioma agree to join the SE and if not why would the SE have only 5 states and Anioma state joins SS with 7 states with only 2 Igbo state out of the 7 in the SS? Anioma and SE has to agree for a joint application for Anioma state with conditions that the state will be in SE zone. The Omu is correct on Investments but this is about history and education. Historical no import ports in SS or SE and only international airport were not in the SS or SE. Once you invest in land and property, getting out is hard but any Igbo person that puts most of his investment outside Anioma and Igboland generally is taking a risk and if something happens you loose it all. Igbo can invest outside Nigeria too, which may be better. In terms of voting, political numbers in Nigeria are manipulated. So it is about real political leadership amongst the Igbos - knowing how to out do the other side.

You can see Nnaa did not respond. He talks and talks trying to sell Igbo agenda, a herculean task. Don't forget that your Igbo forebears messed up everything while they held sway in the old Eastern regional government. The Yoruba leaders embraced every part of the west as one. Awolowo led the pack and today, they all speak with one voice. Did Zik, Okpara, Mbadiwe, Mbonu, Onwenu, Elugburuonu etc do as Awo did? The answer is NO. They were highly tribalistic. If you're not Igbo, you get nothing. It surprises me why today, Ikwerre suddenly became Igbo. Refer to the membership of the powerful Igbo Union in the days. Were the Ikwerre allowed to be members? Of cause not because Igbo leadership said they're not Igbos and so they can't join the association.

She talked wisely but her wisdom is very much limited. It confirms my points about Deltans - they in majority do not want to be identified as Ndigbo. In Australia, those with UK heritage identify themselves as English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish Australian though known as Australians. The same applies to the Irish in America, etc. I agree with her wholly that Deltans are mixtures of different tribes not ethnic, and they have every right to identify who they want to be and known. What Nnaa Mehn TV is trying to do is not to solve Ndigbo problems which are many rather to identify Ndigbo homogeneity. Every tribe in Nigeria has its fair share of issues. I believe this is where the Omu talked out of point. Weather Ndigbo are developing their areas is not the contention in this case though valid. Let her answer the question which is are your people from Ndigbo ancestry not what the problems with Ndigbo.

The Omu raised political leadership. Looking at this: 1. Igbo political leaders can come from any Igbo in the SS, SE, etc. 2. A political Igbo leader from Rivers or Anioma should not wait for SE failed politicians and political leadership (they should take the leadership): Leading up to after Jonathan, Igbo political leaders should have understood that without Igbo political unity in the SS and SE, the Presidency project will be harder. With 7 states you have better chance than 5 states. A. Peter Odili from Rivers was rejected by the SS leaders because he was to them Igbo and Nigeria accepted it. It means that Igbos in the SS and Delta state can only go for the presidency(vice too) only when it is the SE turn. If not they will never be President and so they should be involved in the SE politics with the limit of the presidency and normal party politics. B. The political elders in the SE should rethink in the after 2023 this narrow call for SE Igbo presidency excluding Igbo rivers and Anioma because as the SW and NW will use not only the non Igbo SS but Igbo SS against Igbo SE. When the call for Igbo SE presidency by the SE elders without Igbo SS, it was very short sighted. Even after Odili which was the most recent one of using SS Igbos against SE Igbos, the SE elders did not see that only an All Igbo political block can do better. Ekwueme and others that created this zoning did not achieve the presidency but it allowed the break up of the Igbo political block. 3. Amaechi, Wike and Okowa from Igbo SS were political strong and resourceful and so trying to exclude them was very naive: Amaechi contested and was ok. Wike contested and was close. Okowa did not contest but was looking to and accepted the vice. Igbos from the SE will accept good political leadership of any Igbo, SE or SS after Igboland is one block even economically as moving to Rivers/Aba/Owerri or Onitcha/Asaba is a short journey than Lagos or Kano.

You want Anioma to be seen as an ethnic group distinct from Igbo which they already are to them become a super minority. And then she talks about having more children to boast our population. This is total absurdity. You won't see Hausas in Zaria asking to be recognised as Zaria ethnic and claiming to be different from Hausas in Kano. Rather they will tell you Hausas in Niger Republic is part of them. This is shameful and a disgrace to the Igbo nation.

This woman is either lying or deceiving herself. She is not telling the real fact. The English migration to America, Australia and New Zealand which she quoted is different from the so called issue of western and eastern igboland. Back in olden days people expand territories in order to accommodate their increasing populations and that was what our forefathers did just like many other nations today. Her examples with America etc would have been okay if there was a country with a different culture and language that stood between us, but in this case, there is no natural boundary between us, and we are not thousands of miles apart from each other just like England is to Australia, America and the rest. So what is she talking about, east or western igbo, we are one people that live in the same land called ala-igbo with no borders. We eat same food and share one common culture. If she is not lying to herself, she would have by now ask herself why the Nigeria government has not considered them a separate ethnic group. Nigeria has used political means to divide for so long and they know that to consider the Anioma's a different ethnic group from the rest of the igbos would not be a good idea for them because they know that someday or somehow the people will still come together as one strong entity. If she can talk about creating Anioma state to join with the other igbo states, I believe that it would be a great idea and would help for the unification we are seeking for. I am a proud igbo son, and I do not see division amongst us but political. It's our leaders who created and allowed this problems affecting us today because greed and sentiments. The insight and concerns of our royal mother, the omu, about bringing our investments home to igboland is a great one. She is absolutely right because no one will come to help develop our land if we do not set the pace. But she should also understand that the idea and mission for igbo unification is divine and no one can stop it. And it's important that she and other traditional rulers recognize this unification project for a better and stronger igbo nation. And, it won't be a good idea for her or others to wait until investments are brought back home before she or others people would see reason to begin to ask for the unity of the politically divided igbo race. The fulanis are gathering themselves from different countries to form a one great force, the yorubas, the Chinese and Indians etc are all doing same so as to save and keep their race strong, but the igbos. Ikegwuru. Nwanne thanks so much for your hard work in this unify igbo project. May God bless you and make this mission, the igbo unity a reality. God bless you and the entire igbo nation.

This means you suppport divided Igbos HRM, its common to see people have shared culture or migration along common boundary between 2 major tribes. Igbos have common boundary with Igala, Edo, Esan, Isoko, ijaw, ogoni, idoma, yala, ibibio, urobio. A Tribe should be Identified with Language & Culture. Ancestry as a means to Identify a tribe cant be misleading because our Ancient history where mostly oral history and cant be verified. The olukumi & Igala of Delta north, Igalas in Anambra and Enugu state, the effium in ebonyi state all hv distinct language and culture

She spoke beautifully and eloquently, but I don't accept her last submission. You can't claim to be Igbo and still clamour for anioma ( which is a sub-Igbo group) to be a separate ethnic group. If every tribe in Igbo land seek for separate ethnicity, there won't be Igbo, the name Igbo will go into extinction. And you can't be comparing an international migration with a domestic or internal migration. Nnah mehn, I think you allowed this Omu to lead you off course. Why don't you ask the Omu why the Yorubas in Kwara state have not asked the federal government to declare them a different ethnic group?. The case of Igbos in the Niger delta is similar to the case of the yorubas in other states where they share their state with other ethnic tribes. Why does the Omu think that the situation of Igbos in Delta state is different from the situation of the yorubas in Kwara state or Kogi State?.
