    Kelly, Thank you so much for the information on quilting heirloom hankies and doilies. At the end it made me cry as I’m picturing my grandmother’s hand work and what I would love to do.

    I have never seen anything so beautiful 😍,I have quite a stash of linens some from family that have passed and some from second hand shops now we could be in lock down for sometime a new project thank you.😜🙏

    I collect antique linens too, particularly hankies. I use them rather than kleenex in my purse and they look so pretty when you take them out and other ladies have said they were going to use the hankies they have. Perhaps they were made by their moms, aunts and grandmas. I tat, crochet and embroider and I treasure pieces I’ve found. Thank you for rescuing these lovely pieces and turning them into works of art!❤️❤️❤️❤️

    I have never thought of making a mini quilt of the ones I give away. I am going to make one from now on - even if it's just one block to remind me of the pattern and fabric I used. Thanks for the great idea.

    It is doable. I also teach on sit down machines. Of course, it's the same, but different :) You basically do the same things, but I spray baste almost everything or use Hobbs fusible batting.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I wish you had gotten to the edge treatments especially the ones where you don't have a contrasting frame around them and no binding. How do you just end with the linen piece?

    There are a variety of ways to finish these vintage pieces including framing them. You can add lace, a binding, or attach them to another fabric. Check Kelly's website to view pieces she has finished.

    Hi Jean, so many possibilities! I frame many of them. Some get a binding, finish as a pillow, make into a tote bag, etc. Yes, follow me at Kelly Cline Quilting on FB or my website for lots of ideas!

    Fantastic video and lots of wonderful ideas! One thing I'm wondering though is that I've heard so many people say that machine quilting a vintage item reduces the value; but, this looks like it would actually enhance it. What are your thoughts?

  • @KellyClineQuilting

    @KellyClineQuilting

    7 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Sheila! Most pieces that I use do not have value. They can be readily found for just a few dollars at antique stores. Sadly, the market is soft for these types of linens. Not to say that there aren't some valuable pieces, but I wouldn't quilt those few. For the most part, I believe machine quilting enhances most things. That's completely my opinion, but if you are finishing something for your own use, do whatever strikes your fancy! It's the way I roll ;)
