Being over 60yo, I love the sniper, wish they were around in my car mad days 🇦🇺👍
I’m not gonna lie, that sounds delicious. Think my 202 needs some Sniper love.

Getting 1 for my 186 powered hz
Lovey swap. Holleys Sniper has 1. Ford style Two Stage Accessory resolution that tracks idle, total open loop air fuel ratio control, four corner idle, and a Holley mech sec style progressive throttle. From 1969 to 1984, the stock 2bbl 253 or later 4bbl dual exhaust XT5 4.2 litres were only two corner idle. Even with the better Bosch Electronic Ignition, they never cold started well, and gad Hot Fuel handling problems. In the US 5.0 Mustang 4V, Ford for 1983 to 1985 used a Pink Wire Dwell reduction ( sometimes Two Stage Acessory Drive) often the Hot Idle Compensator Four Corner idle but Progressive Vac Sec Holley 4180C 4bbl 600 cfm with a Pull Down electric choke. The four parts fixed cold and hot starts. GM USA did conquer the cold and hot starts issue, as it used the complicated 1979-1987 Feedback QJet 4MC, which Holden couldn't use here till the last carbed SV 5000 VK Commodore. With a dual or single plane 4bbl...the Holley 4180C would always cold start well. Holley has done a Great Job.
Use the old seal as protection to hit the new one in.
Good stuff gents :) Little 253 sounds awesome :)
Great work guys! The little 253 sounds great! Will definitely be interesting to see what it does on the dyno. Not for HP numbers, but the difference the Sniper makes. Keep it up!
Gotta borrow it from "Stu" Speciality Tool Unit.
Man that sounds unreal. Ive orderd my 2 barrel sniper for my red 6 be interesting to see how it goes.
Can't beat a classic. Doesn't need to be fast, as long as it puts a smile on your face! Also the carby V8's have the best exhaust note 👌 keep up the good work lads
Yes. Thongslapper for the win.
Glad to hear the Sniper worked out. Will be doing the same in the near future so I have been waiting to see the outcome. J&G Diffs do a 4 pinion LSD for the Sailsbury. Pretty sure its a Borg Warner 4 pinion (Commodore/Falcon) machined to suit a sailsbury crown wheel and bearings. S.T.C.benit +1 for a hoodie
Nice work fella's. Good to see Oz automotive history preserved albeit slightly modernized.
Loving the channel, never thought I'd watch a KZread channel like a tv series, keep up the good work. Super jealous about the amazing builds/mods. 20,000 subscribers before 2022 👍
Boys. I bought a radiator flushing gun. It hooks on your compressor and garden hose. You take out the thermostat and Poke the gun up the hose and pulse the trigger and it pushes out all sorts of crap from engine journals and radiator etc. About $100 and well worth it.
I know how much you guys love your tools, might’ve been worth having a seal puller handy for the box 😉
Great work boys!
Nice work guys,its sounds sweet👍🏻
Great video guys . Car looks awesome 👏🏼
Good job guys, car looks good and sounds awesome
very cool boys, see you next week
Great show , always looking forward to the next episode to see what your up too. Thanks for doing something you enjoy and take us along for the ride.
Love this HQ and yes to hoodies!!
Sounds awesome
Holley Sniper is definitely on the cards. It’s good to see a real application and all the details involved in fitting it an making it work. I reckon it’s spelled “Spezza-gullabidat”.
Awesome sound
I have been toying with efi since sniper came out. Just scared that I hear so many stories of ecu faults and the lack of support in Australia. Might wait for the next model.
Have to agree; the HQ sounds awesome! 😎
So good to see an Australian review. Thanks guys, keep up the good work .
Enjoyed the video guys
That exhaust note sounds amazing what a beast
Enjoyed the outcome, i love that ole HQ, sounds great. Looks trick. Glad you got it sorted.
Sounds so damn GOOD!
Another great vid guys, your builds are real world for chumps likes us!!! Keep up the great work & keep the “spesh” cupboard tidy!
Done 👍 well mate 👌,a really tastefully done quey, love the channel and keep it up mate 👌
Beautiful HQ
Nice sounds sweet
Awesome series guys, I spend a good 5 min warming my HQ up each time I take it out, this looks the goods!
Nice HQ mate and that exhaust note is grouse for a 253.
Hahah cant beat EFI on the old school motors. I have mine set to crank over 6 times when its cold (1st start) so oil pressure builds up. Glad you guys got it going and set where you need it to be!.
Sounds nice 👍
Awesome build. I put a T5 in my LX Torana which is one of the best mods I’ve done. After watching this I’m convinced to put a Holley sniper in too now. Love watching your videos lads. Just everyday guys playing with old cars and giving it a crack. I love it. Keep up the good work.
G'day guys, Great video I've enjoyed all the work done on the HQ over this series. And the best thing is you now have a car that's finished. (For the moment.) ✌🏻 Peace.
Holy shit that little 253 sounds amazing 🔥
Yes please to the hoodies!
I cannot believe the note she gives out, awesome sound there guys...
I'm. Ford Boy Myself but I do appreciate when I see a nice Holden and yours is a nice Holden.
Love you guys, here's a comment for the algorithm 🙏
Sounds like a sniper coming in the Sandman. Great work on the Q
You guys got me sold already with the T5 conversion, now I have to add a Hollie
Much Resoect. Aussie Street Maching is always about the Right Stuff. I'll bet its now a flat high 15.5 sec Quarter Mike car. The stock wide ratio M20 was such a very badly spaced gearbox..a One Tonner Commerical 202 transmission that only worked well in Power Board Vans and Pickups. The All Aussie M21 that the Brock 5.0s used...it was so much better. But his 1985 to 1986 T5 Borg - Warner swap was what all Holden 253s and 308 or 304's should use if not an auto. The Stock VH 4.2 4bbl twin exhausted Commodes did 16.6s. The GTS or the rare SS 253 2bbl Four door had trouble breaking into the low 17s with the quirky M20 and Banjo axle ratio.
Soooo good to see guys, this has come up fantastic and it has certainly brought it to life! Hoodies, yes please! And maybe its spelt spzltugabnt?
Looks and sounds awesome. Yes to the hoodies. No to trying to spell what ever that was
buy far my fav youtubers keep it up
Love my 253v8
Time to do the next HQ 😁
Awesome mate. Yours is better than my HZ. Love it. Yes the engines aren't fast but they do sound great. The ole 253 and 308s. Im surprised how good the sniper is, compared to the quadra jet.
omg u guys just saved me 5k and a hole in my boot!👍🔥
My mate had a green hq ss monaro back in the day.It had a big cam 650 dp holley etc it sounded beautiful and he beat many modified v8s including my 351 clevo xy that did a 13.9 on the quarter.
Killa car boys, makes me want to go sniper now aswel 👍
Sounds crisp as good job fellas!! “SsniperrhqWherewhere!!!
Shes sounding bloody unreal!
Exactly what i want to do to my HZ premier , 308
I cannot wait to get my Sniper on my HQ Sandman Ute with side pipes!!!!!!! I have milled the Edelbrock Performer manifold dual-plane divider down 20mm and will be using a Wilson 1 inch Four hole spacer that I have ordered from Summit Racing. Mine also will control timing along with the CDI system. Also new 214/224@ 050 camshaft, timing chain, HiLift Johnson lifters, waterpump and HV oil pump. Love what you lads did and now serves as a guide for my conversion.

Sounds awesome mate, once they are working, they are a great bit of kit
that's sounds awesome I bet it's better sounding in real life just the best in my opinion 😀
The quey sounds mad. Hoodies would be good. Well done boys.
Mate! I love it. What a cruiser! And that is from a ford man. Not true really, I love all aussie classic cars including Vals. I hope you can do one of those some day. Now, enjoy it, don't thrash it!
Love the direction taken with the Q. Have you considered one of those Harrop Truetrac Banjo/Salisbury centres for the rear end? A bit more of that modern stealthy goodness...
Good trick with the seals is to drill a self tapper screw into the body of the seal and use that to pry from. Makes removal much easier and no damage to the housing.
Love it so much 😍 inspired me to daily drive my HJ 253 again 😁 can you please change out the HZ air cleaner stickers for the HQ 253 sticker? It will help me sleep at night😂
I used a TH700R tailshaft.oil seal in a T56 Tremec 6 speed manual transmission because it was cheaper,it might.fit the T5 Borg Warner 5 speed manual transmission as well if the Ford T5 transmission uses the same slip yoke as the GM automatic TH700R/4L60E & T56 Tremec transmissions !
Probably already know but a good step drill is perfect for drilling into thin material where drill bits bite.
Display temperatures in Celsius or Fahrenheit on 3.5" TSLCD: Navigate to the Home screen. Select File, then Local Setup, then Local Options. The options are Show Temperatures in °C or Show Temperatures in °F.
Don't forget the take oiling can to prime oil pump through the sender hole after giving it a good rev.
Well done boys tho….Still sounds like the classic 253 bird scarer :)
Ar5 manual transmission out of a chev Colorado not a bad conversion its a 5 speed or the 350 z cd009 6 speed to you have done it right 👍
Speshesionam Love the build
Hey guys, glad to see you got the old girl running with the sniper. Now I can start on my ute. I'm going the whole hog with ignition, coil, dizzy etc. Where did you get the progressive linkage from?
Would love a hoodie always need another one ahah
Going EFI may not be cheap but for the better driving experience I'd say makes it worth it. If you own it long enough it will pay for itself in fuel savings. Full EFI can make an old car drive like a modern car but due to the engine design and poor flowing cylinder heads of old vehicles it won't make all that much more power. Still, that's why engine conversion exist 👍
Nice work guys apart from the reliability do you think the car would make more power to the wheels ?
Nice work guys ,who’s the Holley guy that sorted a few things out for u
22:00 THIS!!!
26:22 put a TQ 30 ❤❤ cam in it you will love it 😂
Good trick with output seal removal if you don’t have a seal puller is drive a couple of wood screws into it and a claw hammer and you can usually lever the seal out no damage I’d say spelling would be spitzabrilllihaa
Hey guys very impressed with the sniper build I've got a hj gts and thinking of going this way just curious I doubt you'll answer but is this a Bendigo car as I swear I've seen it around and BTW it is extremely tastefully done I also am looking at the t5 conversion ty for the vids ill be going over them very intently anyway great work
Love the HQ guys👌 SpazMcCabenet-😂🤣😅
Drill hole put in screw add slide hammer boom done
Sounds great. Spezeltlcabenet.
Yeeh, It's a beautiful machine :)
It’s a good upgrade, for the old classic carbureted V8’s.
Geez, was considering putting a Ls in a Tonner. Currently has no engine. Now am thinking about building up 308 that's in pieces in the shed with a T5 conversion that is missing some expensive bits. (Bellhousing costs twice the box!,still saving.)..... I don't really need to go fast. Just nice to drive and listen to. Efi is a great option. Sheesh.......$3k tho. Great channel lads, look forward to every episode. You've done well. Cheers👍

That would be a great combination. The same set up I have in the Sandman and it’s been great

do a 333 conversion, basically it's a reground crank with either 265 or 350 rods and 327 pistons from memory
Schpeddytulcabbnit. Definitely down for a hoodie run!
You know there is a tool to get them seals out makes the job real easy
Phizadizamizamieeey. 🤣 Can’t wait to get my sniper running now. 👍
Drill a screw into the seal and pull With multi grips, just an idea 💡 lol
When lock down is over mate bring it down to Chevs and run it up on the dyno. Let me know and I can organise.
Smiles per gallon!:)
Hoodies 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Was talking to my Son yesterday about putting a 253 in his HQ tonner instead of a six. Now I can show him the end results of going efi as well. Specialty tool cabinet is spelt: Spe#$*^%:?net 😆 My hoodie is perfect for the temps down here at the moment. Might need to get another so I've got a work one and a going out one 😁
Do you have any information on the rear sway bar set up you have on the HQ?
