The original studio version was recorded in 1966 with Dave singing it. This version was released a full 30 years later, with brother Ray singing it. Both versions are excellent. I have always said the Kinks was better than the Beatles! Much much better songs better lyrics too!
The vibes in this song are simply sublime....I could hear Dave Davies lead All Day & All Of The Night...!
I've been a fan for 50 yrs, and never heard this song til a couple of years ago. I can't believe I missed it all these years. It is absolutely my favorite of theirs. I think it's the only one that makes me cry.

welcome to the club...feel exactly the same...maybe not in years.
From the first time I ever heard this song I have used it as my mantra, for me, it's raw truth and beauty describe my life. My only regret is I have never had the privilege to see it performed live.
This is, by far, the best kick ass version of the song. Rock n Roll raw with a slashing guitar and full throated vocals. Better than the Kinks original release. Would love to know what concert and when.
The Kink's ... How many songs that they have sung with such meaning ... Like This One ... MANY!! Love this one the best .
Thoroughly enjoy The Kinks music and personalities. God bless
Dave's voice in the background is just the perfect fit to Ray's singing ...

I generally prefer Ray's voice as lead but throughout listening to this version, I missed Dave's great B-side lead vocal from 1966.
that series had some of the best endings with some the best songs in a TV show.

Same here, when i heard it first time, i was like ,,Woah, what is this masterpiece???,, Sopranos actually introduced me to a lot of good songs, who ever had creative choice to put them in the show, was a genius

@@Edvinas97 absolutely. This is why I loved this show as well. The songs were great in the right moments of show.
The original studio version was recorded in 1966 with Dave singing it. This version was released a full 30 years later, with brother Ray singing it. Both versions are excellent. I love the jangling arpeggiated guitar parts of the original, but I also love the power of this live version. Wish it had the twanging guitar arpeggios in it though.

I did 80 pound dumb bell presses like they were a bouquet of flowers..My fav power workout song bar none!!! Amazing tune!

In a world where sameness is worshipped and boys encouraged to blend with girls, this is the fighting song we need to resist this lunatic fringe invading everyone's autonomy. Posers all of them! Educated imbeciles, the world is full of these fucking brainwashed nerdewells.
Great late song from "The Kinks".........Love this live version sooo much....!!!! 😁
One of their most iconic songs. B side, that's where all the really good shit it.
Been jamming with this one for a month looool,so awsome, glad to find this gem. Thanks Flac attack 😎🎼
Great words from a great writer of songs
Tony soprano brought me here...
Thanks Tony S.
Awesome track such great melody 🎶 🔥 and lyrics!!! And a powerful rock n roll energy 🔥 🎸
Funny thing is ten years after this a bunch of Punk bands would come along and think they had invented something new. Always thought the Kinks were one of the true, unrecognised early pioneers of the Punk sound and listening to this they certainly sound like a band way ahead of their time.

punk goes back to the caveman days bro. always that one guy hitting the rocks a little harder and faster than everyone else. knock it off already with who started what. just shut the fuck up and enjoy. Besides the sex pistols and ramones and ect didn't come out and say they started anything even they admit going back to the basics the press labeled them.

So beautiful song and guitares...

I very miss you James Gandolfini :(
THANK YOUUUU. I COULDENT FIND A VERSION THAT WAS WORTHY OF NICE SPEAKERS AND RESPECTABLE VOLUME.
this is a superb piece of music, and tho I am a total rock guy I remember a few years back a lot of punk bands pick up on this, and I always thought it was a great piece from a sixties band who made an impression years later.
IM NOT LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE. Life motto.

Shame there was no live footage of this when first recorded in the mid 60`s. They actually thought this song was "too wild" at the time. They let a little known Psychedelic band called "The Finchley Boys" record this song for an album released in the late 60`s called "Everlasting Tributes".
