Finally, Hp finally did it, the 2018 model temps were too high, model 2019 was quite hot but can improve (I have the 2018 model and had to uv + uc the cpu to get stable 70-75 degrees in games like Star Wars FO in high settings) and now we can see the intel 2020 model with 72 degrees in stock. Omen is a great laptop with a decent price point. I really recommend the 15t models but this one got the jackpot. Thanks for another good video!

@@OWNORDISOWN Hello. Will you receive the Omen 17 from HP as well? The chassis seems to be the same from last year. Now they have 10th gen. and SUPER graphic cards (Max P) in it. It seems that last years model was quite pleasant (I've seen your video) and HP did a good job. What about this year?

I was scouring KZread for reviews on this a few weeks ago but couldn't wait any longer and just bought it anyway. Now that reviewers like you, Jarrod, and Josh are getting their hands on it I'm glad to see I made the right choice. My only complaint was the screen dimming on battery but turning off VariBright in the AMD settings sorted that and I've loved everything else about it. Great review! Thanks for grabbing this one! I bought the AMD Ryzen 7/1660ti model for 1349 from Best Buy and it went on sale about 12 days later and I was able to get the price adjusted after the face with their price matching program. Very solid laptop. The only problem with the Omens is deciding whether you want the insane 4800H CPU or Thunderbolt 3 and the ability to get a beefier GPU instead with a less powerful Intel chip. I'm happy with the AMD version though.

I loved the AMD version, I reviewed that one a while back. I wish they would release the 2060 model in the USA but its not looking likely that it will be here any day soon. Thanks for watching!

don`t worry, 99.99% of the thunderbolts in the world will never be used as intended...also if you afford a 2080ti you will afford to build a small computer to get it running, instead relying on a i5 bottleneck laptop...

Second video is the display wobble. Did not see this in other videos, but I guess they did touched the device when recording. Noticed when you started typing it wobbled even more

Does the HP OMEN 15-ek0503na have 3 USB 3.0 ports? On the Currys website it's confusing.

HP Omen 15's "Ryzen 7 4800H + RTX 2060 with 144Hz screen, 4-zone keyboard, 70.9Wh battery and Wifi 6" model (en0037AX) is scheduled to be available after September 5 in the Indian HP store and their respective Amazon too. I am thinking of buying it actually!

In your opinion which one is better, the lenovo legion 5 or the hp omen 15? (Both amd)

Great review as always! I'm watching this with my HP Omen 15 with the Intel i7-10750H and the RTX 2070 Super Max-Q! I couldn't wait for the Ryzen 2060 option. I also realized that Intel serves gaming better even though the Ryzen is generally better overall. I bought it here in Canada, so I'm quite surprised that there are few RTX 2070 variants outside here. I'm pleased with my purchase so far, and just in time for my birthday!

I was really tempted to get that one, Best Buy had it with a 4K screen on sale for $1600! Just specd a bit to low for me as far as the internals (a 2070 super at max Q isn't going to do very well in 4k, and 4k is overkill on a 15 inch laptop for gaming, think it's meant more for creators).

I bought the ryzen model 4800h with 1660ti , 1Tb, and 16Gb for $1105 after tax from best buy(with their-$200 discount +student discount) and so far my only complaint is the screen wobble but only when I focus on it. When I am busy I don't even notice it is there. Really thinking about getting another m.2ssd for that second slot.

Hello, is possible to test the webcam in this notebook with a black T-shirt on daylight? I have trouble with the webcam on HP Spectre 13 x360 ae00xxx. The Spectre webcam moves black color (only on black, green fabric) to a bright magenta color. I sent my Spectre to repair. They changed the complete LCD panel with the webcam module, but the color shift not go away. On meeting with this color shift are... unacceptable. Acer Shift 3 have good color representation. Thank you.

In India the Ryzen 7 RTX 2060 model is listed for $1700 USD, it's way more expensive in India for some reason but I need it so yeah... Gonna buy it whenever it comes in stock :)

The SD card reader is very useful for me personally, i am constantly using my SD card and hate dongles. I do prefer the ease of switching power profiles on the legion and i felt its speakers sounded better. I also like soft touch keyboard deck of the legion. If you don't need the SD card reader then I would probably pick the Legion 5 as long as I go for thr 500 nit display option.

Hey Steve! As this lappy has a display port, is it connected to the dedicated GPU or Integrated GPU? Can I connect an external 144hz monitor(I'm planning to buy a Ryzen 5 + 1660ti varient with 60hz display here in India) and use it for Adobe Photoshop, rendering, gaming and stuff? Also does this lappy have optimus, G-sync/freesync compatibility?

Hi Sai ! I don't have it any more to check but the DP usually does point to the dGPU and you can then get Gysnc working. I just used the USB C port on my Legion 5 (AMD) and got Gsync working on my Freesync monitor.

Please do a review of the i7 10750H and RTX 2060 variant with 300Hz display if and when you get one. Let us also know whether the GPU's wattage for that variant is 115W or lower and whether we can connect an eGPU via its Thunderbolt 3 port and get it to work.

When you showed the backlight bleed. I did see 2 possible lighter spots. That is bleed to me. Too right, bottom left and too left showed lighter spots. Not sure you stated it didn't have any?

Please do a review of MSI GF65 RTX 2060 .... It's seems a really nice option for the price point

That's a great GPU, should perform as fast as 115w RTX 2070 (non super) but at less watts and heat :)

Interesting that they chose RED keycaps for the INTEL, rather than AMD version lol. Also, I'm a little disappointed that they chose to solder the Wifi card on the Intel model (as someone who has 2 dead AX200 chips in the drawer next to him). This means if it dies, you have to send it in and they'd likely just swap the entire mobo, meaning you could wind up with worse bins. Good video though, very comprehensive!

Thanks Mister 2 ! I agree, soldering the wifi card makes no sense. Why do you think they did that ? I would probably just use a USB wifi adapter if it failed. I've heard horror stories about people getting motherboards replaced.

All keylighting drains the battery quite fast. If I recall there is only one level of brightness too so its not like you can lower it to save some juice. In my battery test I had the keylighting off, I suspect if it was on i would lose one or 2 hours. You can angle your screen towards the keyboard a bit. That may help on the dark.

If you can get the larger battery version of the 5i I would probably get that , unless you need the SD card reader in the Omen. I found the build and speakers to be better.Not that the Omen is bad by any means. The front of its chassis is sharp. I do like how you can change (and see) the different power modes on the Legion b pressing Fn and Q

I got the i7 10750h and rtx 2060 version and the laptop is perfect but beware, my fan on idle makes high pinched noise and because of that I had to turn off Always On fan in BIOS. And there are a lot of examples of people reporting same issue on reddit. The fan while gaming is really loud as well so you need to think about that too. For everything else laptop is top notch.

And yes, at the moment you cant overclock this CPU if you want to lower idle temperature to have more control over fans and when they kick in

@@rifatul well the ideal way would be undervolting. I that way you would keep you temps down and your fan on idle would never kick in. So you would have a completely silent laptop while using it for browsing and such simple tasks. Unfortunately you cant undervolt it so you need to follow general rules of keeping laptop temp down. If the AMD version of this laptop has undervolting enabled then just go for that one instead of Intel, and problem solved.

What did you feel about the durability, with the gap in between the screen and the keyboard. I am looking for a laptop for college, which would be in a bagpack with books and all.

Its something I would rather not have of course as the screen does deflect a good 5 mm. It's seems pretty elastic but I also share the concern, will it eventually effect the panel itself? I honestly don't know.

If you need an SD card reader I would be inclined tp go the Omen route, otherwise I would probably go with the Legion if it has the 144 Hz panel and 80wh battery

Hi Irene, i think both will last you well but I do think that the 4600h in particular runs very cool and provides better battery life. The 4800H of course has more cores and will be more future proof. I have the Omen 15t with the i9 9880h and its used every day and is powered on most of the time and I have had no issues with its performance over the 8 months I have had it. My Aorus x3 has an i7 7820hj and that is used for work and is on 10 hours a day for 3 years and that is still fine, so as long as you look after it it should last you a while.

Steve I heard that the power button is connected to the keyboard on the Omen and should the keyboard fail so will your ability to power on the laptop. If that's true isn't that a very risky buy?

@@trevor2830 yes I really like it. I'm testing the 4800H / 1650Ti one now and it runs well. In games like Far Cry New Dawn the CPU will hit 90 once in a while but generally its fine. I'll try and have the video up tomorrow. Comparing against the 4600h one and it is faster despite having the same GPU..its a nice laptop.

Could please do review and comparison on omen15 and hp pavilion 15 - 4600h and 1650ti.

I love the 5i, its a great gaming laptop, runs quiet and its a solid performer. I suspect the AMD model may be here in October but they have been pretty silent. They are releasing another legion soon , ill make a video on that soon.

@@OWNORDISOWN sadly...no,in my country the legion 5/5i only comes with 56wh battery,, thats why omen's 70wh battery, amd cpu, and its price are a great temptation for me. Omen with rtx is priced $200 less than legion 5i with rtx. But they came in like 4-8 weeks...

@@OWNORDISOWN I got the laptop and it is fantastic but I believe the heating behaves really weird. The cpu is running from 5-20% with just chrome tabs open (i check the task manager, nothing weird there spiking), average temp is 55 C, and suddenly the cpu temperature spikes up to 72, before the fans ramp up to cool it. Even on overwatch on low settings and stable 144 fps, the cpu temp is between 70-90 C, while the 2070 60-72 C (fans are on auto, not maxing). I noticed on CPUID HWMonitor that all 6 cores are running constantly, either playing or on idle, on 4188MHz - 4791MHz, which is supposed to be the turbo clock (5GHz). Shouldn't the cpu clock speeds be around the base (2.6GHz)? ΕDIT [SOLVED]: I searched more for it and I figured it out for anyone with the same problem. I tried with the power plan settings to set it on balanced and limit the max processor state but no matter which percentage I chose it wouldn't change from ~4500MHz. I needed to change at the battery icon the bar away from best performance cause that didn't change automatically with the power plan, but was even overloading it. So after changing both I am now able to play with the processor percentages as I want and I saved ~15 degrees on cpu and ~10 degrees on gpu with the i7 @2300Mhz and the same performance (at least on overwatch which is not a cpu demanding game)!

@@g_stou yeah, its daft that the power bar doesn't always alter according to the power plan. Only when you unplug will it drop down. Glad you solved it and are enjoying the laptop!

The Intel model has numpad but only for China market

Wish the price was same in India :(

I went with Omen, but not the ryzen one. I got a 8750h + 2070_8GB for a massive 31% off. (There's Battlefield Gameplay DX11/12 in my channel for the ones who need to check performance/ system info)

I would go with the 4800H / RTX 2060. It should still be slightly faster in games plus you have the extra 2 cores should your use case involve more threaded applications. Its also cheaper :)

I think you are right the GPU fan is s but smaller, possibly because it's a 50w 1650Ti vs the 1660Ti in the AMD one .

For the same price, you can get the Intel i7-10750H, RTX-2060, 300Hz Screen, 512GB SSD or the AMD Ryzen 7 - 4800H, Nvidia 1660 Ti, 144Hz Screen, 1TB SSD. Which is better the better unit to get? Thanks

For gaming I would say the i7/2060. I did a video on the RP 17 which is the fastest 4800H system available, with a 110w RTX 2060 and it only slightly ahead of an 80w 2060: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lKFrxMeSfZTFo7A.html 300 Hz screen is nice too. If you can make use of the extra 2 cores in your software that may swing it in favour of the Ryzen system

Now looking at Alienware M15 R1 big discounts for this system across the board and looking at OLED option with i7-9750H, RTX-2070 MaxQ, 16GB RAM, 512 SSD. Just not sure if it is the best option even at the discounts through today?

the entire vapor block on the GPU is "ryzen" up, if you watch further near the cooler you will see the pipes going down back 6:24

@@MTM69 I stand corrected. I have just taken the back off again and looked at the screw holes, and the bulk of it is plastic. Although I would say the air grills are metal. So they have thin metal grid where the black mesh is. You tap it and it rattles like metal and is silver on the inside. The deck definitely is aluminium. The lid I still think is thin gauge aluminium, although it can be very hard to tell.

Thank God for giving people the idea to invent taxes. The 1660 ti version it's like 1350$ here, I bought the same spec TUF A15 for 920$..

@@fabilord98 I set the boost to efficient agressive with just -2% in cinebench , + gpu uv and oc, pretty good under 85 degrees. Stop listening to other people's opinions, it's not as bad as everyone suggests..

gabi marin sorry, but when more then 10 tech youtubers benchmark this laptop, and all of them come to the conclusion that the cooling solution is the worst, compared to similiar models, and all of them can show their results that it actually thermal throttels, then i dont care about other opinions, like yours. Then i only care about the provided facts...

@@fabilord98 1. It doesn't thermal throttels, it wouldn't have those higher benchmark scores compared even with i9 2. Similar models (same specs for the same price) doesn't exist, at least in my market (but if u find a gtx 1660 ti + 16 gb ram + ssd + 144hz screen under 950$ on another brand of laptop then buy it cause it's a steal) 3. Some reviewers that you find are sponsored by ASUS, some aren't, and their final opinions will always be influenced. Opinions from people that actually bought the product are the ones you should consider anyways..

@@OWNORDISOWN most of the chatter on reddit says it's gonna take a while longer than that before you can actually get your hands on one (more like July/August). For a lot of reasons, but much of it is that it's probably going to take longer than usual to bring the wattage down from the pretty crazy amount the new cards are gonna use while still squeezing out good performance.

Why did they send you the base varient and that too the intel one, doesn't make sense at all.

There is an option in the BIOS for fan to he always on. Have you turned that off ?

@@OWNORDISOWN No, I haven't turned off. But I found the pitch of fans more annoying, must be the fan and blades size. Also, the the fan curves are so aggressive. In the other hand I found that the performance is so similar, surprisingly there is no much difference in games between a 90w 1660ti and 110w 2060. Transferring large files I noticed that the ssd in omen is much faster than in the eluktronics. As you said, the screen are too similar, bur I prefer the 17 inches

@@OWNORDISOWN I just returned the omen. Too loud and I didn't like the sharp edge facing you. I also returned the rp17, impressive machina, much more quiet but, the speakers were garbage, the screen had some bleeding and the fact that you can't update the GPU driver were too much. Now, I am still looking for laptop... I hope I can find something good soon.

100% with you, it's a great bang for your buck model but I HATE how it looks, just the overall shape of it, the gap between the keyboard and screen when it's closed, the port placement, the shiny logo, etc. Not for me. Also a bit too thick and heavy for my tastes.
