HP laser interferometer test

Ғылым және технология

I put together a laser interferometer from old HP parts. I used a 5508 display, 5517B, 10780C receiver, 10706A plane mirror interferometer, a single 10703A retroreflector on the 10706 to make it a linear interferometer, and a no name retroreflector for the measurement RR. I made the cable to connect the display, laser and receiver myself. This is just me testing it out for the first time. I plan to use this to calibrate lead screws in my cnc machinery among other things.

Hello John, I have acquired a 5508 display and a 5517 laser. Did you right down/record how you made up the cable to connect your 5508 with your 5517 laser? What pins on one device should go to what pins on the other device? What pin and socket type and circular connectors did you use? Sincerely, Paul Davis, CA
