Another great episode of my favorite TV show. 😁👍 That ugly cap has been bugging me ever since 1:57 😠🔥

Yes you're right. That cap looks bad but it's testing good. I ended up changing the Mosfets again this morning along with that bad looking cap. Short was gone like before. I powered on the device and Mosfets went bad again. Laptop is going back to the customer unfixed unfortunately. .

@@NorthridgeFix Hahaha You always foolproof your videos, so i knew you did! That job was too good of a tease. You gave it your best. 👍 As Hristo Stoichkov says - "Sum tie win, sum tie lewn". 😂

@@NorthridgeFix this is VCC_CORE core line where blown resistor and capacitor you got the short. Most likely a rare event happened - cpu itself is shorted. IC is battery charge controller. And mosftest near by IC gives VIN line

Was going mention that cap amazing work as always HP should seriously offer you a consultation job to help them design better labtops you seem to always be fixing these things and would have a great many ways to help them improve this line.

@ARI GOLD EXPERIENCE but it's sad coz I have a laptop with a similar problem that, similarly, led me to a rabbit hole. I think the processor might be shut, in my case :( I had great hopes that this would give me some pointers. Nice video, tho ;)

It's amazing how fast time flies when fault-finding in electronics.
I appreciate you uploading no fixes, helps us noobs understand the diagnostic route when dealing with tricky boards like this.
This is like watching an operating room procedure performed by a skilled surgeon. Thank you for allowing us to see how it is done.

Surgeon: its not fixable. Send back to family 🤣
I think your work is amazing. Some of the process you use today were simply not available when I went through college, and I totally respect the new advantage processes I'm learning. I think your skills are spot on, to the point, and well equipped to get it done the best way possible. If you say it's a no fix, after learning what all you go through here, I more than respect that. It's not time effective.
When I do stuff like this it is real hard to give up, even if it is no longer cost effective to repair... I respect your ability to say "No Fix" and move on.... I need to learn from you on that I think. :)

Respect brother. I have toiled the internet for years looking for you. It doesn’t get any better.
That real time resistor blowing video was killer! Love the videos brother!
The whole video I was looking at a cap that was bothering me and looks like it's cracked or something. It drove me nuts.

Keep doing the good work, fixing and helping customer's to fix their devices.
Hey, I'll allow you to take a shot at fixing any device I own before I let any other EE out there. I respect your work!!!
Sir im a cellphone and computer technician here in the philippines and i wanna thank u for your videos i learned so much about troubleshooting, ive watched all your videos and keep uploading.
Brilliant video! Very good reminder that although something might be possible to fix, it isnt always economic to spend the time to do so (especially when you dont have a schematic and board view). Thank you!
Must be hard to draw the line on this, so near, but (maybe)so far. This type of repair must haunt you 😂
high respect to show these repairs ( fix or no fix ). Your expertise has te be paid anyway. After watching your videos, i feel more confident for my own small repair shop. Im often presented challenges. Sometimes im too afraid to even start the repair. But after watching this, even a no fix seems acceptable.
this was as instructional if not more than a straight forward repair... Thank you for sharing
I love watching your videos. It’s like therapy plus I’m learning a lot. Thanks for the content
I appreciate your honesty, big respect!!
I really love this video because you are an honest Technician. Good job!

Absolutely love your show, awesome how you show all the steps you go through and find it adorable how you call your dad "Big Boss" xD hope you and he have a good new year
The shop I’m building will work just like this. Love it. Thanks for your experience
Amazing explanation! I'm from Argentina and while I learn to diagnosis boards I'm practicing my technician English. Thank You a lot!!

I love how this guy diagonised bit by bit ,though not to full success ,but it was the best example for a leaner like me

Good attempt, you have to draw the line somewhere. I hope that the customer watches this video to understand that you made a genuine attempt to fix the problem.
Glad that there are still honest people. Great Channel too.

Non ritengo sia proprio così però fermarsi così presto significherebbe dichiarare il 90% delle riparazioni no fix il che non renderebbe certo il suo lavoro remunerativo. Ha buona tecnica però questo si.
This Circuit that blow is switching power supply. Google about it, simply 2 mosfets, 1 Coil, capacitors and driver.

This guy is just learned everything diy. He doesn't know how to properly proceed with fixing motherboards. It begins with reading the schematics to understand how the device works. It doesn't have a charging issue, he already put a fully charged battery inside from a donor laptop and proceeded to remove the ic that is responsible for charging the laptop. Big time fail.
I learned a lots n lots work ethics from this channel
perfect example of proper troubleshooting process
Would be interesting to see a compilation video of a bunch of your rejected repairs like 30 seconds in you say no fix for this reason, next....and so on. Appreciate you sir. Thank you for sharing your skills knowledge and experience
Last words is very important to me. I ever worked on a board that spent 8 Hs and nothing result. It so wasting my time. Love from Indonesia
مجهود عظيم و رائع . شكرا يا مهندس
Hello Alex, I'm Caleb from Nigeria. I discovered your channel few days ago and ever since, I've been going through the videos on your channel. You've got great technical skills to show off your ability in this field, you're good at what you do, nice work. Needful to note, seeing all the great works here, I didn't hesitate to hit the subscribe button plus smash the like button for each an evey video I cover, seeing the quality of your works, I started smashing that like button just from the beginning of the video . You're good, pls keep doing more of this . I'd like to know where to get circuit schematic for motherboards of different laptops, hope you wouldn't mind telling me ? #I hope you find this comment .
This is Outstanding High Quality educational content! Thank you very much.
Real struggle is seen here. Thanks for sharing.
resisting a rabbit hole is hard for me. I respect that you know when to say "no fix"
I'm quite thankful that my HP laptop still works and performs well except for a minor battery problem that can be resolved; if I have the money to replace it.

It looks damaged but its working
Crazy when you see something on camera before he sees it, and it gets looked over several times. Sometimes having a second set of eyes is great! Maybe consider livestream repairs?
You're very patient, sometime there only so much can do. At least you stopped when you knew it would take too much time.
What type of a soldering wire you are using? And how much temperature of the air do you use for removing the chip whithout damaging the pcb. And the diameter of the nozzle did you use the remove the small components?
This is fucking mastery, i'm enjoying it with a good ol' cold beer watching every episode like an idiot watching Kardashians.

bravo for the excelent video... try on the coil that you removed to inject 3 volts 3 amps without the coil on the motherbord. with your thermal camera you will see the short circuit... becareful without the coil and inject the voltage on the side with the short circuit...
Are you using the new leds ring light? Maybe it's just placebo effect but image looks more clear and bright!
PS: love your videos, very helpful
Hi Northridge, just checking if there is any update on your training course... I would be interested in learning from you. Great Video. Cant fix them all.
Good Job. 🙏🏻
Awesome video!
Very realistic man n tons of knowledge
i like the no fix videos more because they are the ones that are more educational
Yes kudos for showing it doesn't always work out even if just for the sake of time and human resources. 👏👏👏
Nice video thx. Which soldering station do you use?
This remind me the nice memories when I use to fix 100 of Honeywell smart meters where I found a lot of short circuit on the PCBs
Your best video. You can't succeed without failures.
That Physically Damaged Capacitor... You Said Very First In The Beginning... 😎
You can't win them all pal .great video love watching . Out of interest when you injected voltage in to that cap .does it matter what side of the cap ?
Great troubleshooting! By the way, where did you got your hot tweezers and what diameter are you using on the hot air nozzel? Thank you for the sharing!

Good effort man
Great video thank u so much
So, your meter in diode mode makes a long beep when there is no resistance to ground (a short) and a short beep, when there is no short. In that case the short beep is comming from the charging of the cap?
Frustrating ! It takes great discipline not getting person with the repair. Great video 👍
If you had the circuit diagrams do you think you would have been able to fix it Just thinking that right to repair would have made a massive difference here
Top boss and excellent.
Thank you so much.
Hi there , how do you know that on which side of ceramic capacitor must inject the power to find the short ? any side can we inject ?? please explain in your next video . thnx
