Yeah but what you are missing Sorin is that you have the WISDOM that most of the other KZread creators don't have within themselves. They may have fancy graphics and ways of showing the current flow but that doesn't make them better. You underestimate your talents and need to start back up teaching your beginner lessons. It's not a competition between them and you. If it was, you would be the winner. If you notice all of those other guys ALWAYS use schematics in their teachings. You are the ONLY ONE who can perform repairs just from your knowledge in your head. Please don't give up on us. We really appreciate all you do and want to see new classes from you. Thank you.

So true 90% of other youtubers make out its impossible to repair without a schematic, but sorin, my mate vince & tronicsfix show its possible without schematics.

Continue with the lessons you left behind and video-to-video sharing such dexterity. Really for that makes repairs of whatever it is without schemas have to know what it is doing. With electronics everything can go very well or very badly.

Well just something about your lessons. Your ones are different from all the others, it's like art teachers , they are all art teachers , but some are very messy , others work/teach very clean , you can learn from all. Your art is electronic repairs, and I think we all like your art in the form it is now. Something else , your videos are all RAW , no editing , no cut , very straight quick repair. Keep doing it , Thank you !

It's incredible that peole that walk by shor shop and those who have the priviledge to have YOU fix their stuff have no idea they were in the presense of a real life GENIUS. Thank you for these videos. As a video maker myself, I understand that switching on a camera to record what you repair to help someone else means the job will take 3 times longer. Please never stop switching on the camera. Thank you Mr. Sorin.

Sorin you are missing the point on why we follow you with such great admiration: You take us along side on the repair process, we've seen you struggle on difficult repairs (like last video) and say "I don't know" like us beginners do all the time and then you keep going on till you fix things in mind blowing ways, of course some purists (or people new to the channel) won't understand that you have very small amounts of time to get the job done, I'm sure many other "professionals" won't have the same success rate under same conditions. It is true others may have better animation, but you are a better teacher for raw, real life repairs, you don't skip parts to the process, you struggle, you guide us on your thought process, some times it feels like you can read our minds as if we were just beside you: "No, removing that cap is not a problem because..." Question time: How common are those chips that behave like mosfets? is it worth to stock a few from china? are they as generic as mosfets?

Just love his style. Minimum tools, a little lighter fluid and boom, all fixed. I've watched Louis Rossman use alcohol to find the hot parts too. The two best computer repair people on YT. Great stuff Sorin!!

Yeah Louis Rossman is great too. Bu Sorin being from the "Old Country" of Romania grew up in a world that you had to teach yourself how to accomplish things. I look up to him for that!

Kenneth I agree. Sounds like Louis learned most of what he does on his own too. Seems like he didn’t stay in school in too long. Yes, I do like Sorin’s old world style and demeanor. Louis talks a bit too fast at times but love the fact they booth share their knowledge without reservations.

Comparing your beginner lesson videos with some other KZread channels, I'd watch yours anytime. The reason is simple: you're the guy with knowledge based on real work experience. Theory is nothing without it's application. I liked your beginner lessons more because those were combined with practical demonstration. I'd really appreciate if you'd continue doing more electronic component lessons like caps, inductors, diodes... I recently discovered your channel and subbed immediately after watching one of your repair videos. Electronics is fun, and with you around, even more! Thanks for everything you do, keep it up.

Short: Please keep doing your beginner lessons. Long: I've been on and off trying to learn electronics for years, books, videos etc. Animations are great, schematics are great, but they aren't the same as the real thing. Your vast experience and genuine love of electronics from a young age, is what makes your practical examples more valuable. The fact that you slow down and hand draw the schematics as you're thinking them through and explaining them, makes it easier for the beginners to digest the information. Thank you for all you've done so far, and I hope you keep doing it for a long time to come!

Your unique offering to youtube is your guerilla tactics that take tough jobs on unknown hardware, with no schematics, and get to a solution within an hour. I find this approach most valuable and it's hard to find on other channels.

Sorin, Your teaching style is far better than the animations you talked about, as Nik Nik said in the previous comment you are raw and its always a pleasure to follow along, If you were a maths teacher there would be far more smarter kids in the class because they would pay attention to what your saying, Keep doing it your way mate :)

I have watched many beginner videos and the way that you explain things is so much more in depth/an easier way to understand the reasoning behind the how and why. I appreciate all of your videos and would like to let you know that the time is not wasted in creating them I know there is many that appreciate them.

From a Sorin to another more capable Sorin, just RESPECT and GRATEFULNESS for taking the time to teach us new tricks. As about the shorted capacitor, I’ve seen a motherboard back in the day, where all all electrolytic caps that we’re around the CPU were swollen or open at top. Still, that computer, which was a glorified file server, never missed a step, never froze, never bluescreened. So yeah, sometimes you can go away with removing a capacitor, it just depends what was his role 🍻

You are explaining the capacitors just fine. For those who don’t understand maybe use the example of old school, automotive breaker-point ignition. As you were describing the function of a capacitor in a switch mode power supply, that is the same function of a condenser(capacitor) in the ignition system. With points closed, 12v battery power goes to ignition coil. When the points open to induce the primary field into the secondary, a huge arc can form between the contacts causing a number of problems least of which being catastrophic damage to the points and significant RF interference because it’s essentially a spark gap transmitter for a brief moment when the points open. . The condenser absorbs the energy that would produce that arc, stores it until the points close a discharges.

Quick, nice diagnose, and doggy fix :) Without schematic it is hard to guess the capacity of that cap -so I understand it, but I've said: doggy because you ripped off that pads :) You had solder station ready and hot, so you could take that cap in 10seconds. Don't be lazy :)

Your beginner videos contain something that other people are often missing: many practical demonstrations. We like your beginner videos as well, especially if you keep the focus on the practical aspects and make small projects, perhaps. For the theory, you can direct viewers to other content that you like. Another important point is that a lot of people focus on making the video polished (for style) but then make it too short, skipping a lot of important details. I would rather watch a longer and less slick video that gives me the details. Your videos also have the important quality of demystifying electronics: it is not a black art, just knowledge to be acquired. In any case, thanks for sharing your skills!

Dear Sorin I've searched also for electronics for beginners, yes they are nice but for me (as a beginner) it's always hard to find the connection between what I'm learning and laptop fixing (which is my passion hobby) in your video it's more directed. I was optimistic when you started your beginner series but the you stopped because you thought it boring, I assure you it's not for someone who want to learn, with all respect to your wife opinion but maybe she finds the whole electronics thing boring. I would love to see you explaining things that others may find dum but for a beginner who's trying to shortcut time is very useful Like: - when you open a laptop where do you expect to see a voltage, and how much is that voltage. - when you come with your power supply where do you put it on the motherboard, why And what are the value that you start with. Many thanks in advance If you answer or not 😀 Big fan

Thanks to this video I fixed a similar model HP. The symptoms were the same and had a low resistance path across the power rail. I never would have had to guts to pump so much current into the board. I almost gave up because nothing seemed hot at up to 4 amps. It turned out the bad capacitor was on the bottom and it cooled off immediately with the power off. After removing the bad cap (not replaced), the laptop turns on. However, the battery doesn't charge. The voltage at the power input is pulled down to 15V (??). Still, I pretty happy.

I learned from you to make a light sencitive transistor from an ordenary one. I tought i should bring one to work today and try to make an optokobler with a 2N3055 and a diode. Nice to do with my apprentices. I think your fokus on how to reuse parts from boards is important. It is a lot of components on the electronic garbage we throw away today. I think it should be a place for your electronic knowlege because you are different.

Thank you for the video, it was educational. I didn't realize it is possible to find shorted component just by touching the board. In my case it happened to be AD7676 chip, very hot on a laptop that doesn't power on or charge.

The nice talking doctor said he can't fix my speech, but that I should still take some purple pills that make me go "Woooooo !! Woooo !!" , and the fingers doctor said I shouldn't type anymore, so I took His laptop and now I have police chasing me, and my battery is dying, and there's a nice old lady here trying to feed me worms. How do I fix my battery, Sorin? I don't think the old lady knows how electricals work, like you and I do...

That is so true. everything these days are so cheap even the hi-end products. Sometimes a bad cap could be loading down other power supplies making them read 0 volts. Ive had two caps go bad before.
