the way he admires mavis and the way mavis admires him right back is so beautiful because you can see they both recognise each other's craft and even though he has a hard time accepting compliments it's amazing seeing both of them praise the other

When mavis said "where he go, I just go right with him" my heart went. Yes , mavis me too.

Something that I'm picking up on is when Mavis is speaking about him he subtly shakes his head like maybe to disagree on her compliments? Like does he know how amazing he is? And the way he beams while praising her skills, I love them they worked beautifully together!

Humility is often over employed in many cultures, and is a personal choice for many people the world over. I currently live in Japan, and whenever you compliment someone, it's in their nature to vehemently disagree. Those of us from the west tend to accept praise more readily, but some people still disagree from time to time.

I think he just has massive admiration/ respect for Mavis & her singing ability & as a result finds it tough to take a compliment from her, but as someone already said Irish people dont accept compliments too readily

she's right though, about him singing with his soul.... he puts everything he has into his voice. I was lucky enough to experience him live last week, and he took my breath away. I almost couldn't react in the moment though, I was so caught up and swept along in his voice, his words, and the harmonies.... and then after it was over I just burst into tears. he is phenomenal - as an artist, and as a man in general
