His style is largely influenced by classical Irish music. The triplicate rhythms and specific major scale vocal runs are reminiscent of the Irish Tenors. Hozier is definitely one of the best musicians to emerge in the past decade.

He pulls so many faces in this performance! One of the things I love about him is that he doesn't usually pull faces while performing, which has the effect of making it seem that much more about the music itself, about the *sound* he's creating. But this was freaking adorable.

this song completely shifted the trajectory of what would become my music taste. i've been "preserving" this song as much as i could for the past 8 years in hopes that i get to keep feeling the same way i felt when i first heard it. listening to it live emulated that feeling again. and after years of saying i couldn't possibly choose a song as my favorite, i have now come to realize that this is really my favorite song of all time. can't wait to have an answer now the next time that somebody asks.
@feelingfreaky409

"preserving" a song is soo relatable. I didn't even realize other people do it too lol When I think i've found my new favorite song, I'm sometimes too scared to listen to it too many times thinking it might lose its magic and speciality. But as you said, it's not like that with From Eden and it's my favorite Hozier song now))

@@feelingfreaky409 that's exactly how i used to feel about my favorite songs! it just feels too special to play over and over, to the point that i'd skip it if it came on shuffle. but i learned to let go of that idea and just enjoy it whenever it comes up, and i find that the magic never really goes away :'-)

I was daydreaming while listening to hozier's music one day( like always) and since I write lots of stories I started putting down a story for this song. basically the story was andrew hozier hanging out with his friend(a woman day care teacher) and they just start goofing off with words and chords. he sings, "Babe there's something tragic about you, something so Magic about you," he meant her. and off handedly he said, "don't you agree?"She laughs and says no. so then she sings," Babe there's something lonesome about you. Something so Wholesome about you," and also as a offhand comment she sang," get closer to me." before pulling his chair closer. now every time I hear this song that's what I think about. and that's the thing with hozier's music. it's like a story with music. it could mean anything you want it to mean. and that's how he wants it to be too.

I can't be the only one that's just entranced by that part of him playing out notes alone, whilst the background singers clapped... Goodness me 🤤😌
Babe, there's something tragic about you Something so magic about you Don't you agree? Babe, there's something lonesome about you Something so wholesome about you Get closer to me No tired sighs, no rolling eyes, no irony No 'who cares', no vacant stares, no time for me Honey, you're familiar like my mirror years ago Idealism sits in prison, chivalry fell on its sword Innocence died screaming, honey, ask me I should know I slithered here from Eden just to sit outside your door Babe, there's something wretched about this Something so precious about this Oh, what a sin To the strand a picnic plan for you and me A rope in hand for your other man to hang from a tree Honey, you're familiar like my mirror years ago Idealism sits in prison, chivalry fell on its sword Innocence died screaming, honey, ask me I should know I slithered here from Eden just to sit outside your door Honey, you're familiar like my mirror years ago Idealism sits in prison, chivalry fell on its sword Innocence died screaming, honey, ask me I should know I slithered here from Eden just to hide outside your door
Just cant understand the downvoters
