Hoyt Alpha X 33 Long-Term Review

Спорт

After several months of testing, here is my long-term review of the Hoyt Alpha X 33.
This if the second of eight hunting bow reviews, which will be followed by a shootout where I pick my favorite bow of the year.

I love my alpha x 33. The draw cycle is so smooth. Thanks for this video.

Great review! I wanted to really like this bow, but after shooting it alongside the Lift 33, I just couldn't get the Alpha X 33 string angle to work. I went with the Lift 33; although I felt the Alpha held a touch more better on target. I may still go back and tinker with the X 33 to see if I can get comfortable with it!!

When I shot them side by side, I really liked the draw cycle of the Alpha X33 more but the back wall was better on the Lift 33. In the end I chose the Alpha X 33 because the draw cycle was more important and the back wall on extra hard was already pretty nice.

@@MasterofNone365 I would agree with that, too. What is your draw length?

@@toddshumaker2715 29" if I'm using my Carter Wise Choice. I'm about 1/2-1/4" shorter with the UV Button. I also shot the Alpha X 33 beside the RX8 Ultra and I was surprised that the Alpha was smoother on the draw. Last year, the RX7 was smoother than the VTM 34 to me so I bought the RX7 instead.

There are so many great choices out there. Really liking a lot of the bows I have in this year. Would have loved to shoot the Lift 33, but they sent the 29.5 in for testing. Still a great bow, but I tend to live bows in the 32-34" range best.

@@ArcheryTalkVideo a few of my local shops seemed to be short on the Lift 33's so I guess that became a nationwide thing. Great review brother!

Thanks for the review. I am confused on how you draw 70 pounds so comfortably though. I am only a 27.5" draw and have been lifting weights my whole life. I bench well over 300 pounds and hate drawing 70lbs. I can do it all day if I had to but I'm going get all shaky after about 20 shots. I turn my bows down to 63 pounds and it feels like a night and day difference. Even 60 lb draw feels heavy on some bows that have a poor draw cycle.

I can assure you I can’t bench anywhere in the neighborhood of 300 pounds. The only reason I set the bows up at 70 pounds is for the speed numbers fur the videos. 65 pounds would be my normal preference for a hunting bow. My target bows usually range from 56-58 pounds.

I can only bench 70kg & I can shoot 80lb bows, you need to work more on your back muscles & use the correct draw technique (elbow to the sky). My back muscles are good up to 105kg based on what i do at the gym.

@@stephengatley8144 I can one arm row 150 lbs and do about 25 correct form pullups. I don't think it's an issue of strength in any muscle group.
