Howl's Moving Castle - Merry-Go-Round of Life (Harp)

Музыка

Howl's Moving Castle is actually one of the few major Ghibli movies I have not seen yet, but the music is amazing (as with any other Hisaishi song)!
My patrons voted for Merry-Go-Round of Life in June so I tried my best to get this done in less than two weeks. Sorry I missed June by a few days D:
This is hands-down the most difficult and longest cover I have done, which made recording a bit of a challenge. Despite a few flubs, I'm fairly happy with this! (I did do a perfect run once but my audio equipment stopped working halfway through that recording)
Here, I am referring to piano sheet music from here, but unfortunately it doesn't say who arranged it... if anyone knows, please let comment so I can give the arranger proper credit!

@bugvomit Thanks for replying! My boy bugvomit. I’m not saying I think you’re bugvomit. Feels like I am but it is your username lol. Actually, you seem pretty cool!! Totally not bugvomit! But anyways, seek and you shall find my friend, when you seek with you’re whole heart. I will recommend looking into Christ. If you’re looking for love and for life, He’s the One you’re looking for. At one point I was also skeptical about religion, but when I found myself so depressed, I cried out to God, and the Lord appeared to me in a vision, and He saved me. Seriously. He filled me with all sorts of hidden wisdom. All the sudden I wanted to read the Bible all day. But this time, I understood what I was reading. I was able to stop smoking, stop drinking, stop chasing women- I was able a lot of the things that were hurting my relationship with God. All thanks to Jesus. I started singing psalms. Actually I was drawn to this video partially because I bought a harp so I could sing to the Lord like King David lol. Hopefully this touches you a bit. Cheers mate.

I'm not sure how to explain it, but this just makes me feel a certain way. I feel this nostalgia I've never experienced before. I feel dreamy, lonely, pure happiness and joy, desperation, and serenity. I just imagine myself in a field of flowers, on a beach, or at the railing of a boat, letting the breeze hit my face. Or maybe just laying in a patch of flowers, giggling. This makes me feel like twirling around in a secret flower field. I've never felt this type of yearning before. I want it so, so bad.

And I try to not drink a medicine as possible. And now, having given up, I decided to listen this melody, I closed my eyes and finally fell asleep. For the first time in a long time, I feel so relaxed, I did not have the strength, but after listening to this music it gives me something, some kind of cleanliness to do something. I always thought the Harp was a very classy yet old instrument, something that is for rich people. Pianos are great, but Harp is on another level. The skills you must acquire just to play a simple sing, plus the shape of it and how you hold it. Harp is one of, if not, my favorite instrument!

Hello there! I have played piano since I was a little kid and I learned harp as an adult. I would argue that they both have their unique challenges, but I personally find harp more difficult. With pedal harp (the type I play), you need to operate 7 foot pedals as you play to change keys and play accidentals. Each pedal has 3 positions and there is a very large number of pedal configurations. You get used to jumping around on the harp but I find it easier on the piano. The colored strings definitely do help with keeping track though, similar to how the shape of keys on the piano help.

the tide blew in with the soft gusts of wind and the clouds slowly drifted away overhead. the sky was clear and the air was fresh, filled with the scent of the ocean. as beautiful as this scene was, the subtle feeling of despair that it would not last was creeping. all that could be done by the soul was done. there was nothing left to do to save this scene. all that could be done was to adapt as best as they could and to forever remember this scene, hoping that one day the magic could return and all would once again be beautiful. but until the earth was once again living and thriving and a magical place where the humans cared about each other, all would continue to rot away. but for some, a very lucky few, there is a magical place. a place where you can go anywhere you wish without going anywhere. a place where the fire and scarecrow are your friends and the house becomes new every time you move it. a door that can take you from the middle of the mountains to the town square with the turn of a magical knob. but this must forever be kept a secret. for if the people found out, they would take away the last little bit of hope from the world. and not even the memory of the sea on the warm quiet day with the soft breeze and gentle tide would remain. -2:01am april 14 2020 by myself

I was doing my night routine, music were on autoplay. When you started playing I stopped doing everything. It was an amazing feeling. A very deeply feeling in my mind and heart, breathtaking, I almost cried(I'm not joking, I had tears in my eyes). I'm listening to it for like 30 minutes and I still got a limp in my throat. I want to thank you for that beautiful experience. It must taking a lot of practice and patience to learn playing on an instrument. Very beautiful, have a nice day.

0:25 - she plucks a red string (second red from our left), and it seems to wobble weirdly slowly. This is frequency aliasing. The capture speed of the video - possibly 1/60 sec - is just off sync enough with some integer multiple of the frequency of the string, so that each frame captures the string seeming to have moved only a little, when it's really moved, say, 2.05 cycles, or 3.1 cycles, or some-such. There is another example of this here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fY1-xcipk7enYpM.html

everyone is talking about feeling homesick and feeling safe and comfortable with this song. but for me, i sense a kind of eeriness. almost like the feeling of loving somebody who cannot love you. you try relentlessly to get them to love you, but fail time and time again. but one day, you feel your heart strings tug. and you know that maybe, just maybe, they can love you. so you search. search and search for this somebody who you love, but theyre gone. just gone. and right at that moment, you know. you know that it was never meant to be, and this person who you loved could never love you back because they simply couldnt. and perhaps, everything was a dream. but you hold onto the memory of your love until you are in heaven, looking from above. even though you know deep in your soul that your love was never there to begin with. and thats what i get from this song. sorrow and longing. it hurts in a way. :3
