Carson has been known to be funny now and then, and he always shakes hands.

I've only known Howie as an AGT judge. I like his quirky, offbeat humour.

First time I can remember Johnny seemingly outside his element dealing with the brand of comedy Howie brought to the table. I loved Howie's early standup routines.

Nothing against Howie, I do think he's funny, but nothing he said here requires any kind of quick wit. He's not responding dynamically to the current situation. He's just going through a series of bits that he scripted ahead of time.

When I was a little kid in California in the 70sI couldn't get away from watching Johnny Carson late at night and I remember Howie Mandel being young and funny and I look back today he's so fast so off the wall he was basically a genius before anybody knew it.

Johnny Carson launched so many carriers....if you made it on the Tonight Show you were pretty much a star 🌟

Back in the day I worked at Children's Palace toy store in Toledo, Ohio. He was in town for a show(s), he came to the store, for props, whatever, a lady, bragged about for weeks, was his guide for his shopping trip!

Johnny Carson is the funniest part of Howie's bits.

Howie now days shaved his head and is a germ aphobic.

His personality is so infectious here. There is a sense of happiness at this time in his life, perhaps youth, his inner child showing through more than other appearances I have seen. That said he always debuts in an aim to bring a smile, it seems. 🙂 Whenever he is of course not talking on about serious topics.

I laughed out loud at the fish joke. Was not expecting that 😂😂😂

I forgot how funny Howie was. I remember seeing this when I was a kid. I laughed then and I laughed now. What a classic. Oh the good old days. Life was simple in those days.

I only know Howie from AGT. I had no clue he would make me laugh so hard. My favorite humor is U.S. English. Meaning is in the head of the listener. Howie can twist anything. "Got up to stub his toe, fell on the toilet."

I actually laughed out loud. Laughed so hard I have tears in my eyes. This was an education for me. I don't need to be afraid of a fish with a stripe when I snorkel any more.

I remember watching Howie's HBO special back in the 80s. I had recorded it on VHS and loaned it to someone, and the idiot lost the tape. It also had Sam Kinson's appearance on Rodney Dangerfield's 9th Annual Young Comedians Special. I no longer loan things out to people.

I remember when Howie would put a clearish rubber glove over his head and blow it up from the inside... hilarious, slayed!

I remember his comedy from back these days. I have tears from laughter still.

My mom watched this interview on tv while she was in labor with me. lol

I remember him and Ed Begley Jr on St. Elsewhere. I also remember his brother, a hypnotism act, came to our high school. Howie was the original sketch gag artist before Carrot top back in the day. Amazing how the 80s catered to dead laughter crowds.

I am totally going to use some of this on his talent show comments, just as soon as I watch one.

Howie used to end every comedy performance by stretching a latex glove over his head to just under the tip of his nose, inflating it by blowing it up by breathing through his nose, and then letting it shoot into the air like a rocket. After one performance he had an excruciating headache and went to the doctor to find out he had collapse his sinus cavity. He never performed it again.

Great stuff.

Howie was very ahead of his time. It was sort of a mix between dad jokes/meme humor, if that makes sense lol.

In 1984, I had dinner 🍽 with him in downtown Toronto. I forgot the name of the restaurant. It was near The Harbour front. Super nice, funny & a gentleman. I was 20 years old.

I saw him perform at Yuk Yuk's in Toronto, when he was just starting out. He was always the headliner, on last, because no other comedian could follow.
