Why the hate? Howard has regrets and insecurities. He has matured and his transparency is real. He now realized how uncool and what a jerk he was. I actually like him now.

The "hate" is from hardcore fans who don't like the PC direction his show has taken over the past 6 or 7 years, with many popular guests like Gilbert Gottfried being banned because of edgy content

The hilarious, non PC free spirit howard of the 90s is always there in archive form but I think this is the best outcome for howard to be as he is now. Howard suffered tremendous abuse when younger, from bullying to his dad never showing him how to be a man (it sounds as if he was totally ignored). He got therapy and admittedly when getting older your testosterone drops and the confluence of those two factors were conducive to him becoming a lot wiser now for the better. It would be unnatural if howard into old age tried to be angry and edgy and furthermore it would totally stunt his growth and he would be less interesting... here we have the full trajectory of a very interesting life and this conclusion if not inevitable is the best we fans could have hoped for. So in short if howard didn't evolve it would be unnatural and bad for him and us since it wouldn't ring true or at least we would see the potential for growth lost and that would be a shame. I had to edit to say my favorite guests: Gilbert gottfried (especially the amy heckerling assistant call was beyond hilarious), Elegant elliot offen (absolute insanity which gets me more tripping than a kilo of LSD), and many more but favorite moments in general are all the fights and drama that has happened (like scott being offered 250k for anal).

It's hard staying relevant for as long as he has. If you don't change, people criticize you for always doing the same thing and not growing. If you do change, people get mad because they "liked the old you better." You can't please everyone. Howard seems to realize that. He has always remained true to himself, despite criticism, and he continues to do so.

You hear this shit all too much...I think A LOT of people look back on their younger years and don't like what they see. It's part of growing as human, you "live and learn." Howerd Stern shouldn't be so hard on himself. I grew up loving him and his show. NO REGRETS STERN!!

He was always insightful and extremely smart and compassionate but if you didnt listen to the show you wouldn't know that. If you just took his image without listening properly you'd think he was gross and empty.

All the shit that happens to us which is negative in our life make this enemy manifest, yes. While Howard was younger he did channel that anger and self loathing into comedy gold which worked wonders.

Love old Howard and the new. All that talk he's sold out is BS. He's a real person who's evolved. Self reflection is not bad thing. Long live King of All Media!!!

Wow, I am appreciating Howard Stern more. He seems kinder, more thoughtful, caring, aware and humble. So grateful to have watched this. I never used to be interested in him that much because of the harsh energy he would exude but now I honestly feel inspired by him and his story. Thank you Howard for sharing.

Howard is a textbook narcissist. A non narcissist could not survive in his shoes.

I like Howard. His evolution I think has gotten to the real Howard that’s completely likable and respectable.

Been with the Stern Show since '91. I don't catch it every day now (ironically, since I've got Sirius at home and his channels run show material 24/7). But I listened over this past weekend, and they've not lost any ability to be engaging and funny. The show has been through many different eras. Everyone has a favorite. I know they'll have to leave one day, I just don't want them to.

Regrets? If that's the case, no matter how uncomfortable he feels of his past, it's what made him skyrocket.

Howard finally grows up. Dang wish I could have been listening to him since he got on satellite radio.

People change over time, Stern isn’t any different. Stern was the one that helped to “push the envelope” in mainstream media and entertainment which this is seen in so many different platforms to this very day. Nowadays you have too many people that are trying to be edgy, shocking, controversial, normalizing vices, etc. that it is the new norm but that approach was cool when it wasn’t the norm. I used to watch Howard Stern when I was 9/10 years old (when we first got cable) after my family went to bed. His content was a product of its time.

The host of one of the most listened-to radio programs in the world felt as if he had never really been listened to before. Ain't that the truth.

I will always be grateful that Howard cast a light upon the late, great Phoebe Snow, discovered her genius, incredible voice and humanity. She was absolutely the best and the most magnificent mother to her beautiful daughter.

His audience is a fraction of what it used to be. And his show blows now. He wouldve made less of a difference in the election than Russians buying a few hundred thousand dollars of facebook ads days after the ballots were cast.

Wow, he's definitely a different person from years ago when I was a kid listening to him on the radio. He's humble, eloquent, down to earth as all heck, & a genuinely candid nice guy. I've admired the work him and his wife Beth especially have done for years in regards to helping homeless animals. I've always respected the man but I think after the interview I respect him 10 times more. Great interview

Even though I deeply disagree with him about Hillary, I feel that Howard has been going through a lot of changes since 9/11. I listened to that show, and I observed him go through a shift over the last 18-19 years. It is like he has gone through a re-evaluation of what he considers important. I'm looking forward to his new book.

@Anderson Cooper I'm just saying, she hasn't done it solely for the love of the people and to make society a better place. There is an element of money and power that drives it. There's a difference between being a bit wealthy, and being worth hundreds of millions from leveraging your political career.

I used to not care for Howard, but he is much more relational with his guests now, and not so overpowering with all of his shock jock stuff, and I quite enjoy his interviews now

I really have loved so many of Stearns's interviews over the years and generally, his work. Definitely one of the best in the business. But I really appreciate what the last president had to offer the country and I suppose, thank goodness Hillary didn't come on his show 🙂

Howard's split from Alison did not "lead him to therapy." He actually started therapy 5 years BEFORE the split

I hated Howard Stern’s guts for his abusive, destructive harassment speech in his interview with Dana Plato. He dehumanized her drastically throughout her entire appearance & made the degradation seem so enjoyable that I only could bear segments of the whole production featured on a documentary about the young starlet’s rise to fame & the tragedy of her demise to tragedy. Being still so young, excessively rich & vulnerable following her success on the T.V. show ‘Different Strokes,’ sadly, Howard Stern portrayal & dismissive showcase of her as she was presented in the throes of her drug addiction, money struggles & lowest self esteem possible was detrimental to her fate of a short life within days of her death. It was nauseating to see the story of the men who took advantage of this desperately sick young Lady who apparently needed intervention, love & a chance to be helped so exploited at the end of her life. She left behind a young son raised by her parents to witness grown men take advantage of her name & position to help cause her death instead of helping to try to save this precious young Lady’s Life. The Young drug addicted man who manipulated her by living off her in an unstable life of a traveling RV doing anything she could to maintain a living including pornography & other indiscreet ventures led her to the popular radio show. There, without expectations of being defiled & made a joke of, she thought more focus would be on her TV fame & what her wishes & aspirations for a hopeful future for a return to TV & a role to revamp her earlier career. Plato agreed to the notorious interview thinking that it would be a promotion of notoriety that she was in the career moves of auditioning for a new acting role. But all she got from Stern was focus on her drug use on film before performing sex scenes in a regrettable pornographic film she naively chose for money to support her habit & the thugs making bank off her name. To me, the negative national exposure & shocking reactions of so much hate & dismissive reviews of her appearance is what in my opinion hammered the last nail in her coffin. It would be interesting to hear Stern’s reaction to my opinion & the known perspectives of a lot of the public over 23 or more years ago if he recalls his treatment of her. In closing, I recall being a cringe adrenaline rushed member of his audience so I myself feel a bit sensitive & sorrow for Plato’s plight. It may have been an inevitable tragedy but now I can’t help but wander if this debacle sealed what may have been prevented.

I always liked Howard. I respect him now more than ever as a 50 year old man who's just now entering therapy after years of substance abuse and running away from myself and my problems. Thanks Howard 👍

The only time I had ever seen or heard of Howard stern was a few clips of him from American idol where he appeared mean or heartless or making fun of a contestant. So I didn’t like him. Seeing these interviews completely changes my perception. I’m beginning to realise you shouldn’t judge someone you don’t actually know, that’s just something your brain does

It is so sad. It reminds me of a show about a lesbian that posed as a man and found that men were lacking and craving real deep relationships with each other instead of or in addition to the typical joking type interactions they have with each other.

For many years ,Howard was very kind to people that contributed to the “show”. Since his success is now a reality, he can display the personality he always had, but never believed would sell. His real talent is editing, both with his ribald humor and with his famous celebrity interviews. He realizes what will entertain his audience, and what listeners have heard before. Keep working, Howard…Sal needs this job.

This is an important lesson in branding. When you brand yourself to be a crass, arrogant, gross prick you shouldn't be surprised when credible political figures don't want to talk to you.

Howard's old interviews with Mr Trump made Howard relevant since 2016...yet Howard was begging Hillary Clinton to do an interview which of course she declined...
