The Adidas and Yeezy designs differ quite a bit in the detail, but BOTH designs are derivative designs of the highly successful CROC shoe from at least a decade and a half ago... CROCS was the brand that came up with the whole concept of the single component footwear in an alternative material...

I mean... are the Yeezy slides really that groundbreaking compared to Adilettes? Single-piece foam sandals/slides aren't exactly new stuff for Adidas.
@andresortiz3007
Жыл бұрын
It's less about the general idea of one piece foam slides. It's more about the aesthetics, Yeezy (the brand not the man) brought alot of deconstructed/simplified techniques and constructions to Adidas that they had never attempted. Their version of a slightly off kilter funky looking slide would have never released without the Yeezy slide being a forerunner.
@twotgfltandahalf
Жыл бұрын
@@andresortiz3007 If Ye was claiming some sort of infringement, the Adidas ones are likely much too different with their non-minimalist topographical design for him to have a chance in court. And with the long presence of one-piece foam slides, Adidas do have the argument that it's stuff they've done for decades. Personally, I either find them similar enough that you also have to include the olde slides too, or not similar enough to be an actual infringement. What I mean is the similarities are so small between the Yeezy design language and the ones from Adidas that you have to start look more generally at them to start getting into similarities. And when you "zoom out" enough to view both Yeezy Slides and the Topo, the Adilettes suddenly comes into the scope too. This is subjective stuff, really, but the bare-bones organic style of Yeezy is quite far from the machined Topo style.

@@Derek4k what? Selling shoes? Crocs for one lol or you mean making money off of anothers design? Like Adidas and yes Kanye did with crocs. He owes his succes to crocs, no croc and theres no inspiration for his derivative slides or rnnrs. My issue is his hypocrisy and ego. He owes all his success to sampling other peoples art, from music to fashion. His yeezys clearly took influence from adidas' archives like their top 10 2000s, but when adidas designers do it, who all designed his shoes, he throws a tantrum. What makes him so great and unique and entitled that allows him to take influence from others, but denies others the right to take influence from him? Then people say the tubulars are 350s rip offs, but they were both designed by Nic Galway so the question is whose design language is that owed to? To take it further Kanye stated 350s were inspired by nikes roshes, but adidas takes inspiration from him for their adifom qs and its "death con 3"? So if people want to say crocs are clogs fine then the adifom qs are sneakers and foam rnnrs are slippers/loafers clearly making then all different from each other. How anyone can excuse his bs is beyond me. Its obvious then to everyone but Kanye fans apparently that if the adilettes and adifom qs look like yeezy slides and foam rnnrs then yes foam rnnrs are glorified crocs otherwise they'd have to concede that his slides and the adilettes look nothing alike. So again what was he mad at? That adidas made a foam slide when he didn't even invent the concept of foam footwear, crocs did. If it's not that then what the design similarities between his slides and the adilettes which look nothing alike, whose only similarity is that they're both made out of foam? What lead to his downfall wasn't on adidas, but his own ego and narcissism. Anyone who believes otherwise is just making excuses for him like they always do when he does something stupid enabling his man child behavior which is what lead to him praising hitler and nazis.
It would be cool to compare the slides to the foam runners since they’re made of the same material. Would be interesting to see which one has more cushioning and all the techy stuff

Although I dont think it was the inital breaking point. Kanye tickled with adidas before that, wearing nike socks and nike products. He also once claimed that he would love to wear ajs again. That does not equate to “I buy ill-fitted clothes that don’t suit me”. Some people aren’t into labels but practicality and price. Those two things don’t always fall into the “fashionable” and sponsored by “influential” people box. It was not that hard to understand some people are triggered and projecting ideas that are not present in the comment at all.

Yeah, in Asia... these foam sandals are just a common thing to wear when you couldnt be bother to dress up properly. I just a simple footwear that has been available for a long long time... Kanye didnt invent this

Loved the honest add. I'm a girl who buys the Everyman razors for her legs (ladies razors are overcomplicated and underperform). As for the Yeezys, it's a glorified shower sandal to prevent athletes' foot in a public shower. Why the fuss?
yeezy was and is a scam. The shoes are low quality and extremly ugly, they, like many other brands, only lived of the name and the hype generated by sneaker speculators who drove the price and hype up. Nothing of value lost here.
Thank you for being respectful in how you handled this issue.
wow. impressive testing & not the outcome i expected. thanks for the education, weston.
Adidas has fauxed out Kanye’s shoes multiple times. When the Calabasas came out, there was a another like it from Adidas. So I’m not really surprised by this; it’ll be interesting to find out what they do.

Bro what are you saying. The Calabasas is just a re-worked adidas shoe that came out years ago. Adidas made both shoes. Every employee that worked for kanye had an adidas email..

Also the Calabasas was a stolen design from the Reebok workout. Literally nothing to do with Kanye other than putting the little gold writing in it.

@@LONKALUKSV I fully agree- I just remember there being a Yeezy drop and then the next day, adidas would drop something in the same color way that was “just” different enough. I could see it for what it was- if a kid couldn’t get a Yeezy, they could at least get a good pair of adidas that looked close. If ye looked closer he’d see more than he was realizing with the foam slides.

@@Corwinwill so goes Nike, fila, Reebok, new balance ect. Kanye doesn't design these shoes either nor does he own the patents for 90% of them. Adidas are free to make whatever shoes they like when they own the rights.
One possibility is that the adidas topo map slide design was discussed with Kanye but never implemented. You could also argue that Kanye and Yeezy have really pushed the style over function shoes that Adidas sells. And the purely adidas foam slide falls solidly into that category of style over function at an inflated price.

Adidas invented the slide as we know it today everyone forgets about this. But according to a surprising amount of people anything made of foam Kanye owns.

As someone that has both, all the measurements make sense. I like the fit of the adilette, which imo looks cooler cause of the originality. It just slides on better, with or without socks, compared to the Yeezy. That said I think the Yeezy has (barely) more traction, but the comfort is like 30% better on the slide, if I had to pick a number. That said, audilletes are like $60 online lol Yeezys not so much
I wonder who is buying these foam shoes like that because I rarely ever see them being worn, outside of crocs

I loved you clarifying like “was Kanye right (not about the…you know)” The adidas slides, however, are not as clean and iconic a design as the Yeezy slides, but he probably saw other companies ripping off the idea and then when adidas did something similar too, it was probably the last straw and he flipped. I understand from an artistic pov, too, but as a business decision he should’ve just waited out the contract and not renewed. Maybe he has a plan though.

I mean he ripped off crocs so what was he really mad about when its just the nature of the business. Especially when there'd be no 350s without Roshes so all I see is an entitled hypocrite. It's crocs who should have been mad at him lol, all he did was make a croc into a slide and loafer/slipper with the yzy slides and foam rnnrs.
had a good laugh at the hand-drawn B, "smashed/smushed" and Old Man Foam Sandals XD

Adidas have been making foam flipflops for well over twenty years so Yeezy's are quite slow in climbing aboard the bandwagon.
