Love your chicken set up! Watch the burlap. I lost one of my favorite chickens from pulling out the threads and choking on it. I did not realize they had been pecking at it until I picked it up and looked at the backside and saw all the missing threads. I feed the same mixture of foods to my girls. They are all 12 years old now, but they still lay. Chickens also love plain yogurt and it is good for them. I add apple cider vinegar to their water once a month to help control internal worms. Did you name your girls? Mine are named after female characters from the Harry Potter books. Their coop is shaped like a castle called Chickenwartz.

@@hmmhuh1222 It depends on how many chickens and the type of water container you have. I use a regular size bottle of ACV once a month. I pour a quarter of the bottle in once a day until gone. Change the water daily, as bacteria can grow in it. Hope this helps. My purple cochin banty-Lavendar Brown, won the Purina Chicken photo contest several years ago and was featured on their bag for a year. She was sitting at Platform 9 3/4 with her bottle cap necklace on and her trunk ready to board the Chickenwartz Express.

I grew up with chickens and cannot imagine the conveniences through the years that would have made raising chickens much easier in my youth. My grandparents had several chicken houses, not commercial, just for personal use for family and themselves. The eggs were always plentiful but nothing compared to the amount of labor. I certainly admire you. Although things are far more convenient now, it is still a lot of work and you seem to be very hands-on with any and everything in your life.

You are the Queen of functionality! What at amazing space! Some of my most fondest memories as a child were waking up really early to gather eggs. Being that I was far too young to have an actual job, it always made me proud to do that one job for my papa. I would always sneak out there early and talk to each chicken in hopes they laid more eggs the next day. I miss those days so much.

I love that the chickens have been given consideration when it's cold. Have to treat those girls right! Cold is cold. So many animals die from the elements. Given the chance, every animal would choose a warm place. Thank you for that. Kindness is a wonderful thing.

So fun!! I absolutely love the winterizing you did.. you’re so classy in everything you do!! Those chickens couldn’t have landed in better hands!!!
I just loved the part where you said, ‘if that’s what they want, that’s what they’ll have’. I thought that it was so cute and loving 🥰
I have learned from you that I probably shouldn’t cut corners to “save money” as I will end up paying for things in the long run anyway. I love how the coop turned out. It is a resort style coop for the chickens. 😀

IF I WERE A CHICKEN/ HEN I WOULD WANT YOU TO BE MY MAMA 🐓🐓🐓 its so beautiful how much care you give everything you do, I admire you tremendously Laura. You and Aaron make great videos. Thank you so much for sharing your world. Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas.
Very lucky chickens to have Laura as their mom. I hope you and all of your roost have a very Merry Christmas.
Love how you're zooming in to see details. Thank you! Love the chickens & the coop!
Your winterization of the coop is great! Those chickens are super lucky to be your birds! It's great to read the comments made by other followers! They REALLY have some great advice, info & tips for chicken people! Your chickens look "all fat & sassy" but; I, too, am wondering what happened to the others!? In addition, I'm concerned about you not wearing a mask while "keeping house/coop" for the girls! Laura, take it from someone with advanced COPD, you only have one pair of lungs. Protect them as much as you possibly can! You could easily store some in a ziploc bag in the coop. Inhaling diatomaceous earth dust is very dangerous, too; and the material you spread on the floor looks like another reason to mask up! Thanks for this interesting video! It's always great to see what the hens are up to. Take care and God bless all of you! Merry Christmas! 🙏🎅🎄🔔☃️

Really loved this video with the chickens. The way they talk to you is very soothing. Thanks for the time we spent with your lovely little Queens because that's how you treat them like queens enjoyed the time thank you

I love the idea of raising chickens, especially having fresh eggs for breakfast. Thank you for your step-by-step how-to demonstration over multiple videos. Also, the gardens around the chicken coop are my favorite: really magical!

Hi Laura, I had chickens as well and learned that the nesting boxes needs to be raised off the ground! They like to lay higher up than the ground, also the darker the better! Love the coop 😍
Wonderful tour! Beautiful coop! Mine is an old milking area in our barn that we enclosed. During the day I open the door and let them run outside, they enjoy scratching around for bugs and worms, they naturally return at end of day to roost and we close the door. They never wander too far from the yard area. Keeping open fresh water and an extra light to extend the daylight in winter keeps them laying.
Must say how much I enjoy these films with natural sounds
Great job on the whole chicken set up!! Looking good! I have had chickens for the last 20 years and I love them. The enjoyment far outweighs the work and the eggs are a bonus💜
That "sani care" is awesome stuff. I have usied it since it came out. Works great for oil leaks too.
Good morning Laura. Your chickens look absolutely happy and healthy. Hubby and I were sitting here watching your video and we noticed at the start of the video, you were not wearing a protective mask. Just a friendly FYI from an old nana and papa, so that you can remain Happy and HEALTHY, you may want to consider wearing a mask when working in the dust of cleaning the coop. We want to keep you healthy sweetie. ♥
I had 50 chickens at one point when I lived in the country and enjoyed them so much. Also sold the eggs. That’s a great coup you have!
It’s the most beautiful chicken coup. And they look so healthy. Our back porch is wrapped in screening and plexiglass panels that we remove and store away in the summer. We love it.
Great fun video on chicken care, I always wondered how hard it was to take care of chickens. Reading the comments there is a lot of great advice about chicken care, I know nothing but am fascinated by them. I think the way you winterized looks great and the gals should be plenty happy this winter, you take such great care of them they are lucky to have you for their mom. Thanks for sharing, have a great day, see you soon, bye for now.
Happy 1 million subscribers Laura! 😃😃😃😃😃
My grandfather made simple wooden boxes and hung them on the wall for them to sleep. And like you have branches all throughout. Simple and they were happy.
Love this and had to share it with my friend who has chickens. Thanks for the coffee with Laura and the 411 on how the chickens live. We had chickens for a bit when I was a kid and I remember enjoying them. I love that they still want to nest in that bag with the hay to lay their eggs, just like children right you give them a fancy toy and they want the box LOL

Your girls are super sweet! Thank you for sharing how you care for them.
Might have to steal a few ideas! Merry Christmas and God bless your family x
Hi just found your channel, I am at the moment looking after my neighbour’s two leghorn chickens and I didn’t realise how much fun it is looking after them. They are so low maintenance and to get eggs as well is so lovely. Your coop is fantastic and the way you look after them is just perfect, I didn’t think I would be so interested in them. From York UK
Ok so I have a small coop but have been poop scooping for a few years now... the hardware cloth on the rake idea has been a game changer and a back saver!!!!! Thank you so much for passing on this wonderful tip!!!
Loved this! I've been wondering how you went about the plexiglass. I also adore that you're so conscious about their comfort, as well as their well being! Not surprised at all, but it just warms my heart! 💗
Looks good and the chickens look healthy. Using plexiglass is so smart for protection.
Fascinating 4 star luxury chicken operation there and the gourmet diet...jaw dropping!
What she is talking about is Stall Dry...different names but does the same thing to keep the floor dryer. She has it all covered. Good job!!!! She is a chicken lover, thus I love her! IMPORTANT: Don't use a heat lamp. You have everything else covered. Get a infra-red panel or something that will take that edge off like a panel with a cube that comes on when the temp goes down to 35. Okay girl, - you get a big A++
Don't want there tootsies to get cold. How cute! I'm very happy the way you have provided for your chickens.

WOW! What a 5 * accommodation your chickens have. I used to have ducks, you really become attached to their individual personalities don't you. I miss them so much but we don't have room for any now :( .....Merry Christmas Laura, Aaron and Benjamin, thank you for all you do, I love your videos. Sending love and blessings from Kent, England ♥

The hens look really healthy, they are very lucky to be looked after so well I’d love to have chickens to care for and fresh eggs every day. The coop is amazing 😃
Thank you for the tour, it really was educational.
Your girls have it made! Love how well you take care of them. Really nice home for them to roam and play!!! If chickens play!!!! The plexiglass is awesome. I want some for my screened in porch.
Hi Laura. The gurls r looking great and look happy cozy for the winter. Happy holidays.
Such a gorgeous coop! Great video thank you! I can recommend putting the roosts across the corners, this is where my girls prefer - tucked in away from any airflow rather than across the middle of the room
Your girls look very happy. I love chickens. They really make nice pets.
This is the most beautiful coop I have ever seen!
What a thoroughly enjoyable video! Your coop is adorable, and I think your chickens are very lucky to be there. You have done a great job in considering their needs and likes. Love the large yard you have given them. Very nice space, and natural looking. Thank you! Yes, they do need grit and oyster shell. Lucky birds.
The coup is slowly becoming my favorite part of your property! Lol It was such a great addition and the girls look so happy and healthy

Such a nice coop! Chickens are so fun and fresh eggs are the best! One thing you might enjoy is soaking and sprouting grains for your flock. The chickens really enjoy the sprouts, and the nutritional value is great for the birds and for the eggs they produce. Merry Christmas!
Love the look of panes on the plexi
Thank you for all your awesome videos this year, I hope you have had a great christmas and have a brilliant 2020!
Hi Laura, from a practical standpoint in putting up the winterising screens and roof etc. I think it's fantastic. I have a suggestion. We put up and take down things all the time and over time the holes that you drill into get too big to adequately hold the bolts and screws. My suggestion it to fill the holes with a mixture of wood blue, dowel and tooth picks every time you remove a screw. That way you can re drill into the space.
They must be the most happy chicken, lucky girls xx
Very nice setup for chickens
Pretty ladies. We used to have four. We moved and gave them away. But I’m ready to have chickens again. It was my husband and I first times to have chickens and everything came naturally. Happy Christmas xxx
Great job taking good care of your girls!! I’ve had my auto chicken door for years and absolutely wouldn’t be without one. The coolest thing we have installed a couple years ago are the cameras inside the coop and also in the run. Now I can see them on my phone or IPad no matter where we are!! It keeps a video log and sends a message when there is movement. The only thing I would change is the water inside the coop, especially for winter. The moisture is supposed to cause frostbite. I know you have the ventilation at the top which is good. I always go out and put a thin layer of Vaseline on the girls comb and waddle if it gets in the single digits. One other thing is the poop board under their roost. Oh my what a wonderful way to keep the coop clean. I just scrape the board into s bucket every couple days and it goes in the compost pile. Their floor stays nice and clean resulting in less work and money spent on their hay and wood shavings. Merry Christmas to you and the “girls”!!!!!
Ohhh the wreath on th chiken coup is soo pretty 😍😍😍😍😍😍

Great job !!!
Hey I cant wait to see this seasons again
We gather dry leaves in the fall and bag them in garbage bags. Then every week or so we dump out a bag of leaves in the coop for the chickens to pick through and makes the coop smell nice and gives them something to do. Then in spring it makes nice mulch for the garden.
Happy birds! Lucky birds!,🤗
If this is your chicken coop, I can only imagine your house how beautiful it must be
I use the same bedding and use it for kitty litter. It's great. Hoping to get chickens this spring. 🤞💚💚
LOVLEY video! Thank you for sharing!! 🥰💗
Yay! Thank you for the update :)
I used a ladder style roost for my chickens . It was a two rung ladder three feet long about four feet tall. When it was time to clean the coop you just fold up the roost to clean. The chickens like it and you could move it when you want.
