As an early education public school teacher (K-2), I am SO glad to see this healthy view of preschool. There are Kindergarten teachers who think kids need certain things before coming to K, but it can actually do more damage than good! We spend a lot of time "unteaching" kids who learned upper case letters (most of the letters you read are lower case). Honestly, the best thing you can do with kids is work with phonemes without letters (Another thing we "unteach" is the idea that letters "say" things. Sing, rhyme, clap, decide if there are enough cookies for everyone, listen to sounds in the world, talk to your kids! I get a lot of pressure from parents to have kids reading "early", but please let your kids be kids!

❤️ My boys when they're preschooled aged wanted nothing to do with "school", so we did a lot of play learning. My girls on the other hand wanted to learn to read right away, write, color, and would play school. When applying for a job the application doesn't ask what age you learned to read nor what preschool you went to 😂 Early learning should be fun!

As a first time mom of a toddler, this has been so very validating! It’s just her and I during the day so I really don’t have a choice but to include her in everything I’m doing and she is learning so much! I would love to see a video of you with your toddlers and how you “teach them through life”. This stuff absolutely feeds my little mama soul ❤️

Can I just say that I love how open-mindedly and non-judgementally you address more hot-button parenting topics? People tend to learn hard into one way or another for certain subjects, and you have a really lovely way of making clear what you felt was right for your family, without damning other perspectives as the wrong/unenlightened way.

College however, I took accounting classes that I truly and thoroughly enjoyed. This *really* surprised me considering my major was fashion merchandising and I was also terrible with money. 😂 But now being a SAHM, I love everything there is to do with finances, budgeting, investing, etc. I can't get enough and our family is working on financial freedom.

When you spoke about Shelby's curriculum and school plans I was overjoyed to hear that she has so much autonomy and a sense of agency in what she is learning. The addition of the online classes was a fantastic idea to expose her to different modalities of the teaching-learning process. The twins kind of have a similar style and approach to their education, just at a much more age appropriate level. Enjoyed the video so much! Also, in 8th grade I really liked "The Clockwork Angel" series by Cassandra Claire, maybe Kennedy and Shelby will too!

Just started doing Good and the Beautiful pre-K with my 3.5 year old daughter. I'm letting her guide me on how much we do each day and how many days a week we do it. Somet days we do a whole lesson, other days only part of a lesson, and some days no lesson at all. I think it's good practice for both of us to do our toes in the homeschool waters. Math was my favorite subject. But I'm really enjoying teaching history and science. I feel like I'm learning along side my kids and redeeming my education while giving them a better one than I had.

I needed to hear that ❤️💜❤️ I am a momma of a 8 year old, 5 year old and 3 year old and pregnant . I wanted to start my 3 year old in pre k and realized he just wasn’t ready! It’s also okay that he isn’t ready! Thank you, Angela !

My favorite subject was probably art... or lunch, let's be real. It's been really fun to go from a student to a teacher and to discover new passions for subjects that I didn't enjoy as a child. I'm able to bring subjects to life for my kiddos and show them that you're never too old to learn new things.

As a kid I loved English because I was good at it, in high school I was able to take some dual credit first responder classes that I loved because I just love to compile all kinds of medical and safety information 💁‍♀️

I think it’s great how you’re letting THEM take the lead on it - I feel like it’s so much different than the “typical” route but can definitely be so beneficial.

We used Handwriting Without Tears. It incorporates music, motion, and hands-on learning. It worked GREAT for the 4s class so I introduced it into my 3s class, just as a beginning to get them familiar with terminology. I love the songs & work books.

My favorite subject was math. My math teacher happened to also be the town drunk but he was absolutely amazing at teaching and he made a big impact on me.

My 4 year old twin girls are excited to start this year but one more than another, so I’m glad we have the flexibility to just go at our pace and focus on their individual needs and pace. Marine Biology was a definite favorite in school.

Biology was my favorite. I loved learning about life and how many different forms it took. Thank you for this video. I have a 2.5 yo and worried about if I was doing enough to teach him his letters, counting, etc. He’s now at a Montessori preschool and he’s doing really well.

I am just starting out with homeschooling preschool with my oldest - thanks for the advice! I wasn’t going to do this year, but she is so eager to learn that I want to foster that. My favorite subject was (and still is) science. I can’t wait bring out the experiments!

School was very hard for me and just something to get through. That is one reason I homeschool. I didn’t want it to be the same for my kids.

I'm an Early Childhood Education and Elementary teacher, so I have always adored school settings and often used dramatic play as a tool to pretend to play school. As a child, I loved English and science classes very much. As an adult teaching children, I gravitate towards a Montessori curriculum in order to help guide/foster children's overall developmental aspects. :)

I needed this video. My first child goes to preschool next month and I’ve felt this sudden stress- should i be preparing him more by working on tracing or days of the week… but your video helped me to see letting him live life alongside me and explaining unknown topics as they come or as the landslide of questions are asked is better for me and for him too. Thank you so much for the wisdom.

My favorite subject in school was English and in college I loved my psychology and law classes. I did not finish college ( this was many years ago) but I’m going back in the fall to get my degree and I’m excited about it!! I enjoy your videos, I come home after a long hot day at work and watch to relax!! Thank you for allowing me, and others, have a glimpse in to your life. ❤️

Love your approach to preschool! Here in Germany kids don't start formal education until first grade (6 years). Before that it's just playing and crafting activities in kindergarden.

I like Social Studies and Biology at school. I remember I struggled with English and Math until I started extra lessons and started to excell at both...so I also want to follow interest and not push anything also let her be a kid, but my almost three has done everything I prepared for her which makes me proud and makes it all worth it.

In the beginning of my daughter's preschooling we did the School Zone Preschool workbook and loved it. (Mostly) I would recommend mixing up the pages and not going from page one to the end, but instead doing a page from each "section" in rotation. It took me too long to figure that out, 😅.

Loved this video! With a 3 year old and a 6 year old, I'm always trying to figure out how to keep one occupied when I'm working with the other. Our province has strict guidelines for homeschool so I'm not sure how time consuming it will be this year. But I would love videos on 1. Just what their preschool day looks like and 2. How you incorporate homeschool and work and what that rhythm looks like and what the kids do while you work. I'm always looking for ideas because my 6 year old is very energetic and extroverted and hardly anything keeps her attention.

I loved math. I liked that it was right or wrong and no one could disagree and tell me they don't get it or something. And this makes me feel better about preschool at home. I have a 3 year old and I'm trying to talk to her but I'm glad I'm not missing the boat by not sitting her down too. She is one of 6 so it is nice to enjoy her without the mom guilt.
