    Watching the early episodes with the fight for survival was the most tense I've ever been watching KZread. I wonder if it's possible to adjust the rules or use mods or something to bring that sense of danger to the mid and late game. As the series continued, completing this challenge became more a question of how than if. I personally think that the possibility of losing should be present throughout the whole thing to make it truly challenging. Maybe a self imposed time limit to achieve all the achievements, seeing how the time limit of the carnivore achievement made losing a real possibility. That said, I enjoyed watching the mid to late game a ton, this is one of the coolest challenge runs I've ever seen.

    I'm definitely not that into playing the game myself, but I always found that conceptually the game has a wealth of really interesting ideas, so I found this series to be a real thrill to watch through. The challenges made it super interesting too and it was fun to see the game unfold as a whole, given that it's not something I ever got around to myself. Thanks again!

    I had an amazing time with the back-and-forth interaction between viewers, and the thrill of living on the edge was fantastic. I still can't believe that this piece of steel went on a boulder in the middle of the ocean. The next obvious step is to dive blindly into the new DLC, right? Exploring it without any prior knowledge will be a blast. Low-tech solutions can also be really fascinating, whether they’re enforced through strict restrictions (like no steam turbines) or through time constraints. That's part of the fun in speedrunning, new problems emerge, requiring creative solutions. For example, in my latest speedrun, I opted for an open-air hydra setup (cycle 6-7) to save on power. This meant I had to build a canister filler to make the mechanical filter work in a high-pressure environment. Later, I used those massive oxygen bottles to fill the early “rover spam” rockets (cycle 16-17). Facing challenges earlier in the tech tree really make really interesting challenge, though it might be less relatable to a broader audience.

    Honestly, the most challenging thing was 300 cycles prison challenge. If you could at least go get some sweetles, gecko and cold from frozen bioms, it would be so much easier. I didn't really liked this part, because it basically forced you to use morbs, heat deletion from ethanol and supercomputer, and sunbug reactor. I think it would be so much funnier to run early through scalding sand to get some water for oxygen. But still, very enjoyable series, went from total disaster to almost relaxing videos. I really liked when you desided to crash land, it brought back challenging part. Thank you very much for the series. Also, I feel like your video montage skills improved greatly during this run, very good job!

    Random Seed. Take the 1st dupe every double cycles. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128. I originally thought take a dupe every 3, 6, 12, 24 cycles but I thought it would be to hard so go with starting at 2nd. Starting at 2nd could be to easy so take the 1st dupe It's gonna take you to get up to over 2048 cycles to get 13 dupes.

    I think this type of edited-down challenge-run-style content would do well in any game with enough complexity and enough difficulty options to make people wonder just how far you can go. Factorio recently had an influx of such edited content after DoshDoshington pioneered it a couple years ago, and since then a bunch of other content creators have embraced it as well, to great success as far as I can tell. So the audience seems to be there, not just in ONI. It is of course totally reasonable to stick with ONI exclusively, if that's what you prefer. But if you do decide to branch out, I think your style of videos would work excellently with all sorts of strategy games in the broader sense, from colony sims and anything centered around automation and logistics, to even RTS, turn-based strategy or grand strategy games. Even puzzle games, even if those would clash a lot with the kind of comment interaction that you seem to have liked so much about the current series (because instead of helpful tips, you'd probably get spoilers for future puzzles sooner or later). If you're interested in suggestions for any or all of those, particularly more niche ones that might not have a lot of videos of them on youtube (or none at all!), feel free to ask!

    I've tried to play my own Oasis map just because you made this series. I realized that the heat pressure is actually not that great if you keep your starting area as intact as possible. The debris AT is stronger than you may think just beacuse the ridiculous amount of sand you have around. I used my 70 degrees waste from the metal refinery with 800tons of sand and by cycle 200 where I finally get steel for proper set up, the base is still around 22 degrees and the AT is still only near 90.

    Brackene from the Gassy Moo's basically gives a mood bonus to critters, similar to the amount given by Grooming them. As such you can run the same Stable without grooming using Brackene to substitute for the grooming bonus. So yes you can basically just run a Gassy Moo stable or so, and automate the rest using that milk. So yes you can, but should you do so, eh, maybe?

    There is /one/ way to save a severely radiation poisoned dupe. Get someone to carry them to a rocket, launch the rocket, explode the rocket above the planet. Their absorbed dose for some reason gets wiped. Of course, you need a rocket pretty available to have time for it, but it does work.

    play without atmo suits next time (except for the acheivements) :), ALSO those large planets make it easier. having a space/resource crunch is harder imo. maybe some arbitrary rule like 1 geyser per planet or even NO geysers. It can always be harder. no teleporting allowed... no upgraded rooms (great hall, luxury baracks, etc.), other building restrictions like no air filter, no electric grill... no solar panels....

    I have recommended a tougher one. No turbines on top of the other non approved ones and I'm still not sure if ethanol generator should be allowed either. Additionally a run in which dupes can only learn skills that are required for a single end point in the skills tree is an interesting challenge I can't recall anyone trying. Doing that kind of difficult run plus lights out mod would be the toughest run I could think of. I wonder if he might want to start in the new frosty asteroid with lots of radiation lol for a nice reactor!

  • @EnlonWhite
    @EnlonWhiteАй бұрын

    On Oassis Asteroid, running these traits, you will have a difficult time, traveling outside the starter, and even a few maybe emergency rush research/blocking with insulated tiles to prevent super heat. Geo INactive, Metal Poor, Volcanic Activity, and Irregular Oil Sense you put a time constraint of staying 300 cycles in starter biome, you could have issues with volcanic heat leaks into the outer biomes. Second these traits of volcanic activity and Irregular oil will BLOCK or hinder many paths. Sure you may have easier access to oil and Lead, however its a 70+ Celsius area to deal with. (heat air locks are possible if the temp is never going to be above 90 C at the entrance.) Heat question/why 300 cycles? (not considering any mods at all) Unless your using weeze worts I dont see how. (moving heat is different then deleting it/changing it.) (which you would only have if you left your starting biome/carepackage), Maybe a petroleum generator with ethanol trick trick to make water/02 and a very specfic aqua tuner trick. (see Brothgar builds for Oassis) I do not see you actually deleting heat in the first 300 days without using exploits which most I find would be cheaty. Aka your going to heat up, and the 300 days is just a question of, did you take too much time to insulate or drag your feet on tasks too much. In other words an odd and overly complicated restriction. Still 200 days seems more fair and reasonable, though with travel outside the starter biome I only need 120 at most to stablize (looking for water geyser to make a SPOM bascially). 30-50 days to insulate is really the time frame to have but once you do, you got like 500 cycles of freedom as long as you moving the heat around properly, so why the 300 days? Seems more like to drag on the game unnecessarily. With travel outside restriction to 300 days, yeah, I am stuck on 3-4 dupes only (maybe 5 if I was allowed another trick but probably not. which means the 300 day limit might not only be reached accidentally but by shear lack of dupe labor issues. Meaning the limit is not really a limit unless you are doing well and if you are doing well, it wont matter really. Be more annoying if anything. If you are not doing well there are likely other issues, and you wont be really ready to leave before that time anyways. no the only true issue on this challenge is the Carnivore, and Locavore achievements. Those are usually the only real issues on most of the asteroids. Once you do those, the rest is just a domino effect of getting done. As for power, 300 cycles is just Dupe power, and limiting your need for power vs is a dupe running and powering something saving me dupe labor or not? Or another look at the 300 cycles, is the time when you can start using solar/hydrogen power. which feels silly as its just delaying the Power achievement further for no reason other then you can. I personally dont think denying yourself other power options after it is done is really anything more then a willingness to keep shooting your own foot, just cause you can. All this does is just limit your Maximum size of a colony at worst, at best....you feel more earth savior/cleaner I guess? Dont get me wrong playing at the highest difficulty with 2,000 kc of food per dupe needed, and all the other issues would be great additions to the difficulties. One could argue those are just delays as well. Though, the delay caused by them is more a choice/you can make a choice to deal with them or the results of them. the 300 day wait is more, am I ready? Yes I should go outside the biome then, if not then I should not bother. Volcanic Activity really makes it harder to go outside the starter biome. Higher difficulty should at times limit your choices, but not outright deny a choice, (or limit too much). Dont know why I am so passionate about this to be honest. Great Video either way!

  • @EnlonWhite

    @EnlonWhite

    Ай бұрын

    Oh yeah the dupe limiting factors where actually really good, as you still had a choice of picking 1 of 3, I am too spoiled on mods that let me reroll a dupe or such. I have beat vanilla no mods, no care packages so I can understand that limitation being there. However, I see no point in a random starting 3 dupes, that is just asking RNG to ruin you play-through, I dont think RNG causing ruin to this would be fair, as ONI is more a skill challenge not really meant for RNG. If they introduced random events or issues, that is another story, and more like a entirely different game mode at that point.
