    I feel like majority of pollution and climate change is caused by big companies and organizations. Individuals may seek change and be willing to pay for it, but the scale is nothing compared to the big companies. Also, even if individuals push for change, companies may still try to circumvent it in favour of profits.

    Disagree. At the end, it's a person who buy the product or service from the "big companies". If no demand, they're screwed.

    With our ageing population, it would be helpful if organic items especially food can be priced lower. That in turns helps us with medical expenses as we live a healthier lifestyle.

    34:30 to JP point - if I manage to accumulate my wealth to that point, pretty sure humanity can still survive except water level would have risen and air might be heavily polluted, I will have the financial options to afford travel out or purchase survival kits or to build a shelter to protect my family as compared to someone who do not have enough money? But still, as much as I love Earth, i will not sacrifice for other ppl benefits, and this, will destroy the next gen future. My contribution now will not change 3-4 or 10 years later. We are all selfish creatures in nature when given the ironic freedom to choose. The only change will come is when polices are enforced, otherwise follow the herd if you can't win against it There's a theory about guided queue poles. The narrower the queue poles are placed, the neater, more organised and save space. Wider queue pole position results in unwanted spaces, messy queues and human conflicts Fan of this channel. Tesla's problem is that their repairs are very inefficient and expensive due to Tesla not allowing independent repairs to be done on their vehicles. So Right-To-Repair is also very important (e.g. parts available for public to buy to fix products) Like even with Apple and Samsung they're not very repair-friendly in terms of part availability and digital restrictions in place to disable certain features when the replaced part is not paired to the system. The Right to repair is very important to prevent the buildup of e-waste and unnecessary mining of resources to replace a potentially-repairable product. (Louis Rossman on youtube he talks abt it a lot) Also for energy I honestly think Singapore should find ways to implement Nuclear energy into our energy grid or just research and try to build working prototypes to be safer and can be implemented alongside solar energy to power Singapore's needs cuz even though Singapore's current fossil fuel uses is mainly Natural Gas (cleanest of fossil fuels), and the solar energy production isn't fully laid out yet, we should think of other ways to sustain ourselves to achieve 0 fossil-fuel usage. idk someone educate me if I'm wrong but that's just my opinion.

    the not having children for climate change - its also to reduce the population growth cos the population growth is too rapid and thats why the resources are becoming scarce and being used at too fast a rate. thats why i thought thanos was fantastic. and his method was randomly half the population and did not target a specific group. just like diseases and disasters.

    I think it’s actually very hard for individual efforts to make a difference, even collectively. Given that it probably only reduces our carbon footprint by 10-20% (this is a guess). We probably need a combination of innovation and government policy to make a real difference

    Just a correction, internet cable is just an underwater cable, damn thick and hardy. they drop the cable down into the sea bed.. that's why trawlers may cut those cables. Satellite internet is what Elon trying to do.

    what if someone made it possible to filter methane from cow farms and use s the methane to burn for energy. . . . . but that would anger the animal activist because it would mean the cows are in a massive containment. . . . :>

    34:30 Isn't 'enjoying' the process of accumulating wealth just greed at that point?

  • @OngHakhowzer

    @OngHakhowzer

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think it is greed at some point, but a lot of us sadly will not be able to get to that point so easily, and when the minority that actually managed to get to the point where that becomes greed, I think they need something else to fuel them and push them to do something more meaningful. Like how people usually say Elon is greedy or Bezos is greedy, but at one point of time, the passion in what they did trumped the greed, so I think enjoying the process of accumulating wealth shouldn't really be seen as greed.

    imo it's assumed that people who have similar goals & consumption habits as what was mentioned will be trying to accumulate wealth whether or not they change their lifestyle habits to be more sustainable or not. so it's more of "how do i get there" rather than "will i / do i want to get there", cos either way such people will want to be wealthy in the end. i think it's also related to opportunity costs. do i want to inconvenience myself to be sustainable for a chance at a better future, or do i want to indulge in convenience and enjoyment of the present? to me it's kinda like short-term v.s. long-term gratification. of course, people can go on to argue about the morality and ethics of such "frivolous" lifestyles that seems to threaten the livelihoods of others who are environmentally-conscious, but at the end of the day, it boils down to personal preference, and what's wrong to one is simply right to another. p.s. i for one, am the short-term gratification, indulge in the now kind. if the world does eventually goes to shit i'd have no problem just up and leaving (iykwim), but for now i just wanna live however i prefer. though of course i realise i'm probably in the minority

    actually our grandparents did care about the environment and passed it down. We reuse plastic bags for trash. We cook every part of the animal, pigs organs, pig feet etc. Just that younger people want it more woke and more fashionable. Do they know kopi were used to be taken away in empty milk cans?
