Hi KK, Come one....stop......you are making us blush! Randy
A lot of this is super luxury stuff. I like that he calls it "recommended" instead of making it seem like this is all basic equipment. For example the chain counter ($1350) which is a device that replaces spray painting or putting a tag on your anchor chain($12-$20). It seems completely unnecessary but he is likely controlling his anchor from the helm remotely and the standard would force him to take what on his boat is a long walk when he should be focusing on other things (like setting the anchor). Very knowlegable, very nice boat, very well equipped.

Hi Eric, thanks for your comment and you are correct. Mostly luxury items. I have spray painted my anchor chain for years until now. Thanks for watching! Randy

Wow, just Wow!!! By far one of the BEST walkthroughs of what works and what doesn't I have ever seen. Thank you so much for doing this video, especially for the Leopard as that is my favorite boat and I want to know what to get and also be confident that it is tried and true and not a waste of money. Based on what you have recommended over at least 6 years of cruising, I would be a bonehead moron NOT to follow your recommendations, LOL...I will probably get all of the same things you have as I can't see any item not being a necessity to having an enjoyable and worry free cruising experience . I am amazed at how CLEAN your boat is and how organized everything is, absolute perfection, hats off to you both. A clean and organized boat is a happy boat as far as I am concerned. Blessings to you and your wife. I hope to see you out on the big blue someday. Keep Smile'n and thank you again for an amazing video.

I have a new Lagoon 42 on order so I found this video very informative. I would love to hear more about your downwind sail choice. It looks like you have an asymmetrical spinnaker. Would you consider a symmetrical or parasailor next time? What sail maker did you use? Thank you.
@SailingSVHappyTogether
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Hound, I have an assymetrical spinnaker and I tested the Parasailor but found it a bit cumbersome to fly. With that said the parasailor is the best true downwind sail for a cat. We may have both for our next boat. I am glad you liked the video! Randy

@SailingSVHappyTogether
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, Yes I forgot to mention those and they are actually very important. I used to have an issue when all the AC's would fire up at once and kill other stuff or cause a shutdown. I am surprised they dont build them into the AC units before install. They AC units used to hav an inrush of 20 amps on compressor start up and now its about 11. HUGE difference 😁 Thanks for mentioning. Randy

Very informative. We are planning to buy a new boat and were overwhelmed with the options. There are just so many things and I know we don't need all of them haha. Thanks for putting it together. English captions would have been useful though. Would have solved the audio issue.

@SailingSVHappyTogether
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, The safe is aftermarket. The new boat will be here in January in Fort Lauderdale. Thanks for watching! Randy
Thanks, Randy, this was very informative. Any reason you don't have a soft-start? Any plans on having a soft-start on your new boat? Also, you cut out on your router internet antenna. Because of cellular service, would you still have an internet antenna on your new boat? And something you did not mention (maybe it is a standard option), lightning protection. Does your electronics have any lightning protection? I understand there are these devices that are like a circuit breaker only for lighting. Thanks again!
@SailingSVHappyTogether

HI Bill, I do have soft start. The lightning protection is not great and doesnt work well regardless. I have been hit before on my previous boat. The router Antennae works great but we use Satellite most of the time. Randy

Would you go to an in boom or in mast main sail furling system ? Or stay with the stack pack ? I'm thinking about buying your boat when you buy your new one . I think single handing would be easier without the stack pack . Your thoughts ?
@SailingSVHappyTogether
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Z, We have done a ton of research on the in boom furling and in the end decided to stay with the stack pack. Its less of a "system" and bulletproof for offshore use. Also the in boom adds 300 LB's to the boat. Thanks Randy
Very informative. If you don't mind saying, what was the total cost of all the factory add-ons and aftermarket components above the base price of the boat? Thanks.
@SailingSVHappyTogether
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, Well the total cost of boat, options and after market was about 900K. Many have done it for less but we outfitted like there was no tomorrow! Randy
This was excellent Randy. I have a question about the KVH TracPhone. I’ve been looking at it online and am wondering if it will fit my needs. I, too, plan to work aboard my boat and need to have ready access to the internet. Since I’m designing textiles and carpet, my files are Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator files which tend to be large and will be emailed to clients then back to me for corrections, etc. Sometimes I can use a JPG or TIFF format, which condenses the files, although I’m not sure by how much. Would 2GB enough data for large files like that? Thanks Randy! Peace & blessings
@SailingSVHappyTogether
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Kia, I think the data would be a killer. You would need an unlimited plan. What they do is charge you less but no cap on megs. The problem is they slow down your speed. But you could send your emails at night and it wouldn't matter if it took 5 minutes to send a few files at night. That is what I am thinking for you. Randy
@robcohen

If you are copying data that caches well, you may want to investigate WAN optimization systems.

Great info Randy, I assume you will sell the 48 when the 50 arrives? anyone that buys one of your boats gets a pristine, well thought out and looked after boat. I'll call you after the lotto win.!

Hi you wonderful people. Its imperative to redo this video with better sound. One of the most important video's to watch when commissioning a cat.

Congrats you are going to love that boat. Ours sailed great! Leo from inspirations in Fort Lauderdale did our enclosure.
Great Video Guys !! We have enjoyed Binge watching the videos, My wife and I are at that place when we are soon pulling the trigger on a Leopard, So question from the Wife " Why do we need a 50 would not a 40 or a 45 not do as its only the two of us " what are your thoughts.....Thanks do much again I know the 50 is an entirely new hull and almost dwarfs the 48 when seeing them Side by side at the dock.

Hi J Sten, Thanks so much for watching our channel!!! Tell us your favorite episode!! Well here is the thing. All the boats are great and yes the 50 is quite a lot to handle for the two of us. We have several friends who have purchased the 45 and it might just be the right boat for a couple with TONS of room to spare. We bought the 50 because we like to entertain and we often have all the kids etc. We also like the extra comfort of a large boat. There is no right and wrong but I would have to suggest the 45. Especially if it is your first boat. Thanks again for your enthusiasm! Randy

How do you manage weather and the forecasting?

HI Marc, We use Windy.com and then Chris Parker from Caribbean weather center. Everything is pretty high tech these days but near shore local effects can change the forecast and often does. Randy
