Sailing SV Happy Together
Sailing SV Happy Together
Hello and we are glad you found our channel. We are a couple of hard working entrepreneurs who found a way to cruise before retiring. Lennie is a General Contractor who built custom houses and I was a Flooring contractor serving the largest homebuilders in Florida. We have been together 27 years and boating has been the passion for both of us. We had power boats for years until our youngest left for college and we had the time to sail. Then we had the crazy idea that we would sail to Panama and up to San Francisco where I learned to sail in San Francisco bay. We decided we needed a Catamaran for that trip and that is when Lennie bought me a Gopro and we started the channel by accident. I posted a video to show my family and 300 people watched it. And that is how this all began. So if you love life, people and fun join our adventures and always tell us how you like the show! Our channel is NON MONETIZED. That is how I am able to use the great music from your favorite artists.

I saw a video from the cruising kiwis where they added Ivermectin to the anti foul bottom paint and it greatly reduced buildup.
Love and miss you guys!
HI guys!!!
That background music is really distracting
I know it was too loud sorry!
1300 bucks for an alternator regulator. People must hear "marine" and lick their lips
Glad to see you’re still out there living the life. Be safe.
Hello and thanks!!!
I know your dagger board was rough looking but that's so cool that they drop down.
HI Ronald, yes they are awesome!!!!
Love the lighting. Looks like a party 🎉 on the boat!
It is😁
glad to see another video, great work. sucks about your daggerboard, i've never seen ones that fold down electronically like that, crazy. Just fyi, the music is great as always but it's s smidge loud over your voices, i had to turn subtitles on.
Hi and thanks. Yes I left sail on too loud for too long. Sorry!!!
The work you are doing with Warrior Sailing - RESPECT
Thanks Leon!!!! hey everyone, Leon here built our boat!!!!
First, thank you. I am sure you guys know but for others FYI some boats have small decals on both sides to indicate lift points.
Yes but Kinetic didn't want the labels and I know where the bulkheads are now so easy peasy
@@SailingSVHappyTogether Copy.
How about scanning the pendant and print it on a 3D printer?
That is a great idea. I should do that regardless so I could remake it at any time. Currently my dentist glued it back together and we sent it to South Africa where Kinetic will put a circle of carbon fiber behind it for support. It will be awesome. Crazy how important a little memento can be.
Beautiful boat and beautiful couple. SV Happy Together could easily be the largest sailing channel on You Tube. Thanks for another great video and sharing your new journey with us. BTW: Great music. Love the old school stuff that is better than the new stuff!
Hi Charlie, thanks so much and I agree on the music. They don't make it like they used too. I took up guitar and I am learning to play all the old rock and pop songs by Journey, REO, Billy Joel, Elton John, Tom Petty and the list goes on.
Lovely edit guys. Yup pretty stressful hauling out particularly for the first time in a new place. I love the folding dagger boards. We did Coppercoat on our bottom and we are 1 1/2 years in and it’s pretty good. Requires a monthly scrub but no real issues so far.
Hi Mike, we are 3 months in with the black widow and we haven't had to scrub yet...bizarre. It's clean. also the marina water is a factor but it's been nice and fast.
Love your videos! I was first introduced to you through Bulletproof. I’m a dentist growing my group in small town TX. Thank you for your mentorship from afar! Just an idea, but you should see if Craig has a lab guy that could fix your necklace. Those intricate details should be no problem for a lab technician.
Hi Jorden! Great idea and Craigs lag fixed it today. I am sending to SA to have the backplate of carbon made and it will be awesome and live forever.
@@SailingSVHappyTogether So glad to hear that you were able to get it fixed!
Love the content you post, don’t stop❤
You got it!
Your joyful portrayal of being happy together during a haul-out, combined with a heartfelt invitation, captures the essence of camaraderie and the beauty of shared experiences, creating an engaging and uplifting narrative. And I am Floating Village Life In From Viet Nam
Thanks so much and appreciate your thoughts
😎
Thanks!
I appreciate the new video, thank you! Greetings from Anacortes…
Hi Ray, thanks!
*Thank you to my 2nd family Happy Together! ❤✌💯*
Hope all is well. Great family time. Make sure to dodge those hurricanes. Xoxo
Nothing better being with family.
Hi Steve, Agree!!!!!
What a delightful and warming video. So nice to see that your whole family enjoyed this experience, is really ''happy together''. Paul
Hi Paul, thanks and yes it truly was one of a kind experience for these kids and grandkids. So fun
You do a great job of putting these videos together! And Lennie doesn’t look a day older than she did on your first sail!
Family fun and you get Shaggy mixed in, I can always count on the musical selections! Cheers! And come on Eileen, really!
Hi Greg LOL I love to pick this stuff!
❤
Thanks
You are so lucky to have such a family outing. Keep on smelling the roses since life is so short.
Hi Leland, you are right and thank you!
Great video, it seems like y'all are really enjoying the new boat
Thanks Joel, we are just loving it!!! its in St Lucia now. Headed to Grenada
Awesome video, awesome music as usual!! You're defiantly living the dream!!
Sounds like our world is getting smaller and smaller. Soon the will be no safe harbours. Showy display of one’s wealth not a good idea among the poor.
Hi Duke, no I promise it's not like that. 99% of harbors are safe and people are wonderful. Agreed on not being showy but all yachtsman are showy to some degree because we have a yacht (sailboat) and they dont' know which ones are expensive or not. If you are a good well traveled person you know how to dress and behave.
Hi Randy, you should get a non-lethal like a Bryna.
Hi There. yes I have considered. I like this for defense
That light wind sailing is phenomenal. Truly the difference between a boat you want to keep and a boat you can’t wait to sell. The technology thing is always a conundrum. I know a guy who setup a carbon cat with no shore power, no generator and no shore water. Oversized water maker, oversized lithium and oversized solar. Hard to do with solar. We tried on our last boat and were nowhere close. I guess those integral alternators on twin diesel main motors really is as good as a genset. Such a tough call on light dinghy vs Lux dinghy! I guess we tried to double anchor a lot but you have to get wet. Not ideal for restaurants. Drop off passengers, then go set anchor 20 feet off shoreline then bring shore anchor for stern up. Kind of a pain. I think light tender probably the ticket! Lenny is awesome. You two are great together! She puts up with all your tech stuff, which I do too and know can be trying!
Only someone with experience could write this comment 😀. We know alot of people considering the integral systems but I still don't think it's ready for durable world cruising. More and more boats are being built with them and I am probably old school on this but I love my solar and my generator. I may add a hydro power system in the future. We ordered the UP carbon dinghy to be custom built in Miami and it will weigh 200 lbs less. We also ordered the Avelo diving system which will get rig of all our heavy dive tanks and weights. Weight is everything on this boat!!!! Thanks Rynne!
@@SailingSVHappyTogether enjoy my friend, well deserved! Life is precious! Those dives and sunsets are priceless!
Wow! That was exciting! I’m glad it went smoothly!
Hello and thanks!!!
Superb video, thank you.
Hi Paul, thanks
Amazing people and the boat is pretty cool too. 😎
Hi Ted, hahahaha, thanks man
Nice as always.
Thanks!
That boat is simply amazing
Hi Boody, thanks I agree. We are enamored with it
And OC Tender with Zerojet looks just so totally in harmony with the Kinetic, Will def fit happily in the happy togetherness ❤❤❤ In fact any other tender I know of looks just so out of place on a beautiful yacht like the Kinetic. As an architect and industrial designer it hurts my eyes. No hassle with outboard motor either.
My new UP 240 will be custom painted to match the boat and I agree. The Highfield just doesn't look right on the boat. I agree with you completely.
Light weight tender: OC Tender all carbon made is Bay of Islands NZ and get a Zerojet (friends of mine) electric jet engine made in Auckland NZ....... best combo ever!!! 👌😋❤🥰 The Whynss have one.
I saw their system and I ordered a Carbon Dinghy. I am not using that engine I am doing a Honda 20 but my boat will be 200 LBS lighter than what I have now
Very good you two, love the videos! ❤ from 🇨🇦 BC
HI there and thanks!
As has been said many times, by numerous people, it is so good seeing you two posting videos again…thank you! Cheers from Anacortes
Hi Ray, thanks so much!!
Good on ya mates 🫠
Good on ya mates. 👍
Thanks!!!
I hate the heavy tanks. Why not invest in the smaller tanks? You’ve got the money. 🤷🏻♀️ 🌴🥥🌴🤷🏻♀️⛵️ Anyway good videos. 👍
Hey, yes me too. There is a new system called Avelo which is carbon fiber and uses no weights. We are being trained in for Lauderdale on then in July and then will buy 2 system for the boat which will take 200 LBS off. Also we ordered a Carbon Fiber dinghy for another 200 LBS savings so lightening the load and easier to manage at the same time.
I sell carpet, resilient & ceramic all day, I work for a commercial flooring contractor in DFW. You own a dealership, don't you? I used to be a Shaw rep, prior to joining the dealer side & I have a small YT channel like you - a lot in common! lol Love the channel, been watching you for years!
Hey, awesome. Yes I owned Heritage Carpet & Tile for 35 years and sold it to a private equity firm in 2019. I finally fully retired last week and turned 60 so big changes for me and more time for sailing!
@@SailingSVHappyTogether Congrats! Great time to sell it - Congrats & enjoy retirement! Looking forward to more videos now that you have more time! Lol People don't understand how much work goes into editing a video!
Great video guys. Boat suggestion (potentially this is stupid and not ergonomically possible, I’ve never been on a kc55) but I think a well placed MFD or two in that forward cockpit, Like the ones you see on the masts of racing monohulls, Would be a great add. It would save the “ boat speed? Wind speed?” Shouts. I know these videos take a lot of effort. They are appreciated. 👍
Hi John, you are correct and I will be installing Wind Speed, Wind Angle and SOG in the center of the forward cockpit. Great idea. I am constantly asking Lennie. Thanks for the nod on the videos and I am really enjoying these right now
Great to see you guys again, the new boat is looking better and better. Now just master beaching the dingy (not putting the beach in your dingy, lol). Have fun and keep the journey going.
Hi Pj, Thanks! We just ordered a Carbon Fiber dinghy which we should have done originally.
You could use a Takacat with a ~3HP ev outboard just for open beach landings (under 100lbs).
Hi Robert, agreed but instead we ordered a Carbon Fiber dinghy which I should have done in the first place.
This is great seeing you research and use all the electronics on your boat. That is a big task most do not think about. It would be nice to go to a class sponsored by B & G or Ray marine depending on what is on your boat. a 1 week class before you ever receive your boat would be a huge help.
HI Dc, I agree completely, It has taken about 20 hours so far or reading and watching KZread videos and practicing. We still are scratching the surface on what a lot of this gear can do.
@@SailingSVHappyTogether with all your high-tech gadgets, it would be nice if you also talked about plan B when something breaks that you're not prepared for. What I'm getting at is don't fall too in love with everything because there will be a day.. I was in IT for 30+ years, too much gadgetry concerns me. 😁
So far sailing in good conditions with bow winches looks great. That boat sails super nice in low winds. Do you have the hybrid option? would you get a hybrid system with this boat?
HI dc, So far she sails well in most conditions, 2 weeks ago in Saint Martin we were tacking into the wind which was blowing 25-28 knots true with full main and jib. Front cockpit was wet of course but it is self tacking so we were inside with the door closed doing 11 knots upwind. It was amazing but would have been wet and a hassle if I had to use the winches to tack each time. No we didn't and wouldn't do the hybrid option. Weighs too much and unproven for a world cruiser. One day I am sure they will be standard but I wouldn't touch it unless coastal cruising
Awesome video , such a pleasure to watch !!
Hi Timothy, thanks so much
