    I did a similar conversion to my 2021 Four Corners and added a Jones H-Bar and Sora flat bar shifters and Shimano MT-200 hydraulic brakes. I wonder if Marin could offer a similar build from the factory with Jones H-bar (or equivalent), and Alivio drive train with the 48-36-28 crankset and Shimano hydraulic brakes? The Four Corners frame seems to suit the Jones H-bar really well.

    I'm wanting one but tubeless. West Texas isn't friendly to any tubed bikes I own. Certainly leaning on pulling the trigger and ordering one. I have a 29 inch inseam and I'm 5'9. Think 54/medium would work? Tube looks sloped enough for standover height

  • @marin_bikes

    @marin_bikes

    Жыл бұрын

    Howdy! Yes, at 5'9" a medium should suit you just fine. Noted on needing sealant, and a few of us have injected sealant into tubes via removable valve cores. Or you could also have your shop lace up the wheels with some tubeless-compatible rims. Cheers!

    @@marin_bikes I had a friend successfully tubeless the stock rims on the nicasio plus with some tape. Might give it a try. I personally just don't use tubes for anything but road bikes that stay on pavement. Everything else has to be tubelessed out here sadly

    Not sure which one Andrei has, but note that the Four Corners models are equipped with eyelets that allow for virtually any common rear carrier to bolt up with ease. We here at Marin are especially fond of racks from Tubus, but they can be on the pricier side.

    Did he really choose the right bike if he had to replace the bars, the drivetrain, the brake and shifter levers? Please give us more flat bar, rigid, steel frame bikes, Marin. That is what this guy is using, and you are promoting, but that is not what you are selling. I think the Muirwoods is the only bike that actually matches what you are promoting here and that is a bit of a budget bike.

    @@nassozeebo Hi Emil - we have a number of models that "carry forward" into the next model years without any changes. We don't make updates just for the sake of change, but only when they are necessary. The 2023 Muirwoods didn't need any updates for the new year.

    To me the Muirwood does not ride like a budget bike, it performs quite well esp for climbing and descents. Very versatile geometry, shifting is excellent and the only things I change was the seat post, saddle and pedals. It may not be expensive but it’s certainly high value for the performance.

  • @nassozeebo

    @nassozeebo

    Жыл бұрын

    @@williamchan8866 agree. It looks pretty great. Im comparing it to bikes like the kona unit x and surly kramus. Those have better overall spec, replaceable deraileur hanger, nicer/wider tires, more mounting points on the frame, doesnt have 27.2 mm sestpost, proper thru axle insteas of quick release axle and geometry/a fork that allows me to upgrade to a suspension fork in the future, if i want to. But still… a kona unit x is 60% more where I live, compared to a muirwoods. Those bikes just feel more premium overall and feels a lot more ”future proof” so im leaning towards the extra money being worth it. In my eyes the muirwoods look like a great bike but the kona unit x basically looks like a dream bike. :) I dont think marin has anything that is comparable to the kona unit x but please correct me if im wrong. :) i wish the was a more premium muirwoods.
