I think we’ve seen the last of this type of ‘character’ - Vale is an absolute legend, an ambassador for the sport. MOTOGP is going the way of F1 now - the riders are robots, PR is king and characters aren’t required. I just cannot see anyone coming up through the ranks who inspires so many people. Some try to copy but Vale will always be the best - he’s the whole package. I’m just glad he’s got to retire in one piece and with his health. Best of luck to him - it won’t be the same without him.

To be honest motogp has gotten quite boring already in the last years when he wasn't competitive. But i really can't see him in a managerial position. He's too much of a free bird for that. I can see him focus entirely on his racing team and spending his days traveling or racing in his private circuit with his friends.

Relaxed and easy going when interviewed belies the fact that he was an ultra competitive-take no prisoner racer on the track. If Vale was friendly with a fellow racer, that indicated the racer was of no threat to Vale. If a fellow racer posed a threat, Rossi treated him as the ultimate enemy. I have watched Rossi ever since he started. Unbelievable longevity. Most be difficult realizing it is over. He had a great run, so no need to feel sorry for him. I will miss him.

@Sivarao210 Prorez No way, two completely different people. Mark doesn't enjoy anything but winning. Rossi has a personality which is loved throughout the world Mark doesn't and never will. Mark isn't crazy, that wouldn't work but he is driven and a danger to himself.

The passion he has for two wheels and other hobbies is inspirational. When I seen vale racing in 96…I was inspired to see him accomplish things at young age. His career will forever be unmatched. Vale forever!!!

I can’t begin to say what millions all around the world will be feeling at the end of this amazing mans career.I can remember him at the very beginning and there was just something about him that made me say he’s going to be World Champion one day. His big smile, his down to earth approach to life, his willingness to pass his knowledge onto others and just his eagerness to please his fans. Wow greatest of all time indeed.
