There were no subs back then. But you could get sent off. There were no physical yellow or red cards, though. The ref would just point to the tunnel to indicate a player was being sent off.

Yeah, that's a great point. I think it's not talked about as much because the Olympics hasn't always been considered a major competition.

It was actually 4 in a row given they didn't play in 34 or 38. Going into the 1954 WC, Uruguay had never not won a WC. And it took the Magical Magyars to beat them.

So even the first World Cup was rigged for Argentina just like in the last ever world Cup? Interesting. Argentina was the team awarded so many penalties in both tournaments. They had a controversial moment against France in both world cups. Also interesting how they were the first ones to qualify for the first and last ever World Cup final

Unfortunately, so. There was bad weather in the Mediterranean, so they couldn't get on their boat in time. So they missed the world cup 😅

@@Tri-campeon ¿A quién le ayudaron a ganar el torneo bobón? A un fracasado en mundiales que no tenía forma de ganarlo sin alguna ayuda de parte de la fifa. Esos favores se pagan, no lo olvides, ya ha pasado antes, siempre pasa. Y aún así no le ganaron la final a Francia. Podrán jactarse que les regalaron, digo que ganaron el torneo una vez más pero jamás que derrotaron en 90 o 120 minutos a una potencia europea, no sucede desde 1986 e inclusive teniendo mejores equipos en torneos anteriores no lo consiguieron.
