How Germany Won the 1954 FIFA World Cup...
Спорт
This is the story of the 1954 FIFA World Cup. It is the story of two teams. The Golden Team Hungary and West Germany were playing their first FIFA World Cup after WW2. Hungary were the clear favourite to win the World Cup whilst little was expected of Germany. The 1954 FIFA World Cup would end up being one of the greatest World Cups ever.
This is the fifth video of a series focusing on telling the story of each FIFA World Cup. TheSportsFiles channel is all about telling great sporting narratives. What better way to start than to tell the story of the history of the FIFA World Cup. If you want to learn more, please hit that like, subscribe, and notification bell.

Yeah, they're quite possibly the best team who didn't win the World Cup.
The format for this world cup is shocking. The groups were pretty unfair due to the seeding, meaning a non-seed that beat a seeded team would likely then have to play them again just to confirm it before progressing, unless they could at the very least earn a draw against the other seed, and extra time was played if there was a draw. The Hosts weren't seeded (the only time the Host wasn't seeded when seeding was used) (even Qatar were seeded). Even weirder the seeding occurred before the qualification had actually completed, with Turkey ending up seeded under the assumption that Spain would beat them. Even more bizarre the four group winners (Hungary, Brazil, England and Uruguay) went into one half of the draw, whilst the runners up had the other half (Yugoslavia, W Germany, Austria and Switzerland). This created an uneven route to the final.

100% agree. An awful format that, thankfully, they never used again.

@@TheSportsFiles-mm1kg Would be an interesting what if to look at what could have happened if the format had continued. Not that easy a task, as the 58 world cup was unseeded with a draw based only on Geography; and later draws had only top seeds, half of which went to the hosts and defending champions. But might be possible to guestimate.
Very cool video! Thanks for that!
These have been pretty good! Be looking forward to seeing you keep doing this!
6:02 bro you replaced Uruguay Flag with hungarian flag

Ah a good spot thanks.
The German commentator for the final match, was amazing! If you have watched newly re-mastered & edited footages of the match by any chance, you'd know what i'm talking about?!

Thank you. As a new channel, I really appreciate comments like this.
Stupid format honestly. We saw the same with the stupid playoffs in 58 when Czechoslovakia won 6-1 against Argentina and had something like +7 goal difference but Northern Ireland went through because they won in the playoffs 😂

Yes, they've honestly had a lot of poor ideas for the format over the years.
They said it was adidas, but we know it was Dopping.

1:56 11 Europe 2 Americas and 1 Asia makes up 14, not 16?

The host and reigning champions qualify automatically. So, 14 spots required teams to qualify.
Easy answer : by cheating
This was the worst format of any world cup .1950 was a close 2nd

I agree with you. Fifa really did try some strange formats over the years.
