How Ukraine Lost and Liberated Kherson - Russian Invasion DOCUMENTARY

Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues with a video on the Battle of Kherson. After the full scale and unprovoked Russian invasion started in February of 2022, occupation of Kherson was the biggest Russian success. In this video, we will describe how Ukraine lost Kherson, managed to stop the Russian advance against Mykolaiv and Odesa, and then turned the tide by counterattacking and liberating the city of Kherson and the oblast.

I am from Mykolaiv and have been here the whole time. We didn't have a proper water supply for months since russkies had destroyed the water pipes, the city seemed completely empty, considering how much people fled due to the tough conditions when the city was partially besieged. At the time I studied at the local university and was about to get my bachelor's degree. I remember may 5th, when russians decided to bomb the city with rocket artillery. I was writing my research for bachelor's degree when the shelling started. I really didn't want to go hiding in the shelter, so I hid under the table with my hands on the keyboard and was typing my work when a shell hit a library 30 meters from my house. So...yeah, just wanted to share it with someone. Thanks for the coverage.

More countries NEED to support Ukraine & decide that Russia can't keep getting away with this. Ukraine needs help gathering some sort of air force.. Since the current landscape of the battlefield is so exposed & dangerous. Russia has heavily mined the fields, been pushed back to their fortified lines & the landscape is beyond horrible for battle. I can't imagine having to fight across wide open flat areas with today's weapons & surveillance abilities.. it seems basically impossible to overcome a landscape like that. I foresee a huge stalemate in a lot of areas due to this battle reaching these "no man zone" type battlefield locations. Unless Ukraine gets a huge increase in support from European countries & America, then Ukraine will be in a really difficult position.. both sides have lost huge amounts of soldiers. This war is no joke. *(Obviously this won't happen but i wish Russia could let go of this obsession of taking over all of Ukraine... They started This war even after they acquired crimea, etc. idk why they are so dead set on all or nothing with Ukraine. I wish it could stop. So both sides can stop losing so much.)

I am Ukrainian, and when I studied the world history of antiquity in the 6th grade, the Macedonian kingdom, it was told how the Macedonians considered themselves one people with the Greeks, Hellenes, that they have the same culture, and so on. And then I discovered an analogy with Russia, which imposes itself and entangles itself with Ukrainians. The only thing that scares me is that the Macedonians lived before BC, they are not enlightened in relation to our time, but here it is the 21st century. If you look at Russian history textbooks, there is darkness there: their history begins with the Scythians, who lived mainly on the territory of Ukraine, and paradoxically, the territory of settlement is similar to the modern borders of Ukraine, and this is before BC, then they have Slavs, and almost all artifacts and information about the Slavs from the Slavs of Ukraine, Belarus and Poland. For example: the idol of Zbruch, Ukraine, they have it in their textbooks, and some other idols from Belarus, but they don't have their own. They don't talk about their Finno-Ugric peoples, who ethnically made up the core of Muscovy, and then assimilated under the Slavs, and the language was a little modified from Old Bulgarian, which explains why the Russian-to-Ukrainian translator sometimes redirects me to Bulgarian. Even Russian historians of the 19th and 20th centuries confirm the ethnic core. And if we take the language, then an outstanding historian of the Russian Empire/USSR (I won't remember the last name, you might be interested) said that the Russian language is like a cake: the cake is made up of Turkic and European words, and purely Russian words are a thin chocolate glaze. Further on in history: the topic of Russia, and Russian schoolchildren from the 9th to the 13th century sit in Kyiv, and what is happening there. The 4th century is studying what is being done in Kyiv. For example, Ukrainian textbooks, when we pass through the Russian Empire, we do not pass what does not concern our lands. For example, the Russo-Japanese war, or some kind of coup in St. Petersburg, or something else, we don't go through that, but the Russians go through what happened in Kyiv. If we take the history of Russia before Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, then they were sitting on the outskirts of history, and after the conquest of Ukraine due to bloodletting, they reached the pan-European level, biting off the territories of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and then Sweden. What later allowed Peter I to create an empire, and here it was not without Ukrainians, as the idea of the empire was given to Peter I by a Ukrainian, a religious figure from Kyiv - Feofan Prokopovych. Next, let's take the artistic side: the famous Hermitage in Moscow was created the following year after the Scythian gold was found in Ukraine, which was the main composition at the opening.

  • @Kwerd

Next, artistic and literary figures: Taras Shevchenko was listed among Russian writers and artists, even though he is a Ukrainian from Ukraine who devoted himself to Ukraine. Or Ilya Ripin, who is listed among Russian artists, although he has the most outstanding works of Ukrainian themes, he is a Ukrainian from the Cossack family, 80% of his work is about Ukraine, he wanted to open an art school in Ukraine, but there was a lack of funds, and before his death he painted the picture "Hopak" , originally a Russian artist, of course. Next, the artist Samokysh, a Ukrainian, wrote that he creates for Russia in order to make a living, and all his heart is for Ukraine. Then Kuindzhi, an ethnic Armenian, wrote that he was forcibly enrolled in Russian artists (by the way, in Mariupol, the Russian military destroyed his museum). He is also an ancient Russian artist, and there are many such examples. Azov's paintings were taken to Russia, not to mention about thousands of Ukrainian museums that were looted and taken to Russia.
