How tough is the economic outlook for Scottish football?

Спорт

Kieran is joined by data analyst and financial expert James Dailey. They discuss:
- How can we overcome the lack of money in Scottish football?
- What are RB Salzburg and AZ Alkmaar doing with analytics and advanced technology?

Outwith Celtic and Rangers(2012) the attendance numbers at matches are pretty poor. We need to do SOMETHING about TV rights.

I agree with the point of including Analytics, I have recently switched careers after having worked in MLB in New York and from an on field (or pitch) competitive perspective. Analytics allow smaller clubs in markets with traditionally less populous fanbases to punch above their weight class and keep the sport interesting. As a new fan of Scottish football within the last year it’s very apparent the monopoly between Celtic and Rangers and more recently Celtic (whom I support) it’s ultimately detrimental to the league and to the fans of coming generations who could potentially become less likely to spend money to support their club because of the lack of a reality in which they compete for the title or the cup competitions. A potential solution considering limited club budgets is to have the SFA (probably not going to happen) create a dedicated team to identify how scottish clubs can create their own analytics departments. This would avoid everyone trying to copy a particular club and instead innovate in their own Scottish way. Long and short: a league wide effort to implement analytics as a standard requirement for each club in the premiership would create organize competition and innovation on the field. And for the clubs claiming spots in Europe, they’d have a a bonafide chance at making some noise against clubs with an ever growing financial leg up.

The answer is a fully blown European Superleague with promotion and relegation form depleted domestic leagues or Scotland merges with other football markets to create a regional superleague with higher tv market size. The third option is to somehow get Sky to properly invest in Scottish football and offer.a tv deal at least equalling 100Million per season. Those are the options and that's it

As a football fan I want to give an opinion about the Scottish national team through one name...Billy Bremner. It's the original Scottish football: cheeky, intelligent, creative = dangerous. However, such players cannot be developed without a patriotic vision of domestic clubs. 20-30% of foreigners into local clubs, it brings benefits, everything on top of that causes serious damage in the long term.
