Helps that Taylor is a beast. The only thing that would have made it more generic would have been cleans in the chorus with no abrasion whatsoever, which was one of AILD's biggest traits and one of the things they absolutely popularized, regardless of who invented that. I like the grit in Taylor's 'cleans', and he gets deep as a Hollywood stylist's closet when he wants to.

a blegh, a breakdown and a solo. we are truly blessed by the genius in Nik. I almost broke my chair when the breakdown hit cause those early 2000s mosh moves came out of this old man.

Generic =/= bad. Riffs are cool, it sounds great, vocals are awesome, but in terms of originality... Well, it's a whole lot of 2000s metalcore panels put together. It's like comfort food, you've had it a million times, but you're gonna love it for the 2 millionth time just as much.

It was extremely generic lol. You must not listen to much metalcore if you haven’t heard all those ideas a million times before. He did them very well though.

@@M4RCi92 Generic maybe nicer to say traditional like a lot of what WWE wrestlers do is traditional or what works on crowds but they put a lot of their heart into it and nobody calls them generic wrestlers because they do all that work into making their own style, I think Nik did that here.

@@goldengrill769 I don't watch WWE, so I can't really say much about that. But again, generic by itself isn't an inherently negative word, it just means that a thing doesn't really stand out from a crowd of similar things. And if that crowd happens to be quality 2000s metalcore songs with meaty riffs, well-executed vocals, and a solid sound, then being generic is a compliment. I don't see why Nik would take offense at the word if it describes what he created perfectly. :)
