Jeven, I help my two sons with their channel on KZread (editing, logistics, and all of the normal dad stuff). Thank you for providing the sort of instruction that you do. When I find my kids watching videos on improving their channel...it's almost always one of your videos. Not only do you make great videos, but you are a fine inspiration and role model for them. We've tried to slowly improve our video-making skills over time and nearly always try a tip that you provided (including their first scripted video...meaning one with a plan). They recently made a trailer and used many of your tips. Bottom line is thank you for doing what you do and being a positive influence on youth who are interested in sharing their experiences with others.

You are absolutely right about taking the time to practice talking out loud your script/outline. Even do test videos and listen and watch yourself. Take 1, take 2, take 3, etc. Be your own best critic. Revise, revise, revise. Just did this recently with my FIRST KZread video. Worked really well. I still have a long way to go...! 😁

I love writing scripts, it allows me to get my thoughts clear on paper. I follow the script pretty loosely though and I will do clips if I forget things (which I usually do). Then I’ll just add my personality a bit to the script I’ve written so it doesn’t come across robotic. I like connecting with the person and not just the information they have to share

Great video Jeven! I think your way of thinking about the problem and take away is better than just thinking about the formula, but of course like you said some parts of the formula, especially the hook. I've tried both writing a script and the bullet points outline, and definitely the outline works better for me. There are a few certain things I might script and almost read word-for-word if it's something more technical so I know I'm using the right words or numbers or whatever.

(Most of) my most popular videos are due to me writing ✍️ down the script in detail beforehand. That being said, it was more individual scenes that I would film, and put together in post. Looking back at my content though, I’ve taken more of “The Office” style where I do the “verse”, and cut in interviews in the middle

Although I'm just getting my KZread channel started I have found that script writing is extremely helpful. If you are making videos I would highly encourage you to write out a script even if you don't like doing so. I find that at the very least it helps me plan out my video and polish my content.

Jeven: I joined Skillshare in order to listen to your Final Cut Pro tutorial, which is great. However, that is the only FCP video you made for Skillshare. Are you planning on making more tutorials for Skillshare? Do you have a comrade who also teaches FCP who you recommend that equally drops your name too? Your videos are to the point, lots of info in a short amount of time, no dramatization which can be distracting, and very organized.

It would be great if you can make a video on how you would turn an idea into a script that’s not your daily experience and you have to research first. Thanks for another great video. I am a total newbie at vlogging and have wondered quite a bit about scripting. Some of the video that I have shot is of me biking or driving through campgrounds. As I drive I am doing a narration that is rough. When I get home I replay the audio track using speech-to-text software. That gives me a script that I then edit and clean up. Is this an efficient way to do this? It does seem quite time-consuming. Right now I am using my laptop screen as a poor man's teleprompter.

So instead of 'writing' the script because "thinking and writing" (@9:45) and talking could be different, sounds like you should dictate it so you hear yourself and commit that to a file at the same time.
