Hi Phil!! The PsyD programs I am applying to instruct the applicants to answer four specific questions as part of the personal statement. Each prompt must be roughly 300- 500 words and in double spaced format. This comes out to a lengthy 4-6 page personal statement. Do you think it is okay to add an introduction and concluding paragraph? That is, it would technically be two additional paragraphs added to the additional numbered questions. What are your thoughts? Should I ask the addmission coordinators? I hope this makes sense. Thanks again!

Hi Kathy, great question! You might ask the admission coordinators. My first reaction is to stay within the length of the prompt and to be as concise, clear, and articulate with what they've given you as much as you can. Although depending on the school they may not care, so it's hard to say! I hope that helps, best of luck though!

Yes, absolutely. Once downloaded feel free to make any edits or changes. Some programs may want you to add certain sections or have questions that they want you to answer. Hope that helps

Do you revise SOP? i have a mentor I’ve sent it to her hopefully will get some feedback this week . But I’ve also heard in another SOP video that you should let at least two people revise it?

That's great! Yes, I would suggest having two people look at it. I've found that people that know you well may have better editing suggestions because they know your capabilities or a little more about your story. Best of luck!

How long does a personal statement need to be? For the school I am applying to, it does not specify, only says it can be 2 pages and 1,000 words.

I believe as long as it answers the questions that the school has in a clear and concise way. 2 pages, 1,000 words seems reasonable.

Good question, I think that's up to you. If you feel like it's helpful information for the committee to know about some of the reasons...that could also be a topic that's discussed in the interview, it's hard to know whether the information you provide will be helpful so it's up to your discretion
