Hello. I'm currently studying Othello and I 'm writing an essay discussing whether Desdemona took a risk in marrying outside her class and culture. However I am unsure of this introduction: "As a white,Venetian Upper class woman in a patriarchal society Desdemona would have been expected to marry into the same class and culture. However in marrying Othello, a Moorish general in the army, she challenges these expectations. This essay will therefore explore the risk she takes in marrying outside her class and culture ". Any good?
Great

Sorry, let me rephrase that: as a white, upper class Venetian woman in a patriarchal society, Desdemona would have been expected to marry into the same class and culture; and to be chaste and subservient to her father and husband. However in marrying Othello, a Moorish general, she challenges these expectations. The following essay will explore the risk she takes in marrying outside her class and culture.

I have not actually read Othello, but this sounds good. It is straight to the point and you are making your stance very clear that it is, indeed, a risk. Well done💪🏻💪🏻

Thank you for such great feedback!
But can't you say for no.4 rule - "one could see..." Instead of those pronouns.
