Hi! What was the pay like? Great video btw!

I am a 3 stripe officer on a cruise line. Best jobs on the cruise ship; navigation because you work your watch and then you are off. Plus the women love you. Art auction and shops people. They are not crew and they work for companies like Harding or Starboard cruise etc. They make big money. An art auction manager can make more than the captain. Plus the shops are closed at port as are the casinos. Ship band and entertainers. Time off and nice job. . Cruise director and staff. Long hours but fun. Medical can be ok too unless there is a novovirus outbreak etc. Shore excursions.

Thanks for the information. Doing some research for the medical department.

Apply via instructions on the the cruise line's website. How close you are to the port is irrelevant.

Former casino dealer here. I never worked with anyone in my department who had never dealt before. I worked in a casino in my country (Costa Rica) for six months. You get more time off than a lot of the other departments since the casino has to be closed while you're in port.

Let me put it like this usually they hire people as either barman waiter or the other lower positions that ppl from poor countries take . You are not going to get hired as front desk or high end job on most cruiselines unless you are native english speaker and speak a couple more languages . To them in most cases your education dosent matter unless you are applying as a specialist to do a specific job or probably medical staff . For security job you need to be ex police officer from either India or Irsael or Philipines based on the cruiseline because to them its important to be able to communicate with your teamates in their native language . Most cases positions available are assitant waiter bar boy storekeeper (loading day is murder) cook ( hope you are from india ) or you will rot in that kitchen or housekeeping (average worktime 12 hours ) you have 15 min to clean a room and 30 rooms a day. There are other possibility to find job on the ship 3rd party - casino slot machine operator ( loading coins - currency into the machine ) Shop atendant or if you speak several languages positions in the art gallery are always available

I heard Shore Excursions and Youth Staff is a fun jobs to experience.

Go to each cruise lines website. They all hire photographers.

What is the age group considered for a cruise ship position? I understand most cruise lines are not flagged under a United States flag to avoid not only the pay structure but also other laws that might normally protect an older worker. Also, what prescription medications are you allowed to take, if any?

As long as you are 18 years or older, you're more than welcome! There are people of all ages working! I believe any prescriptions (except maybe medical marijuana?) are allowed with a doctor's note.

Only the Pride of America is US flagged. The big advantage is being able to hire workers from all over the world. The American work ethic was so bad on the POA, guests complained and now Norwegian can hire a certain % of foreign workers on that ship. Being foreign flagged also means they don't have to pay the 21% US corporate tax.

please tell us about HR department.

I worked on the then Sitmar Fairsea and Fairwind. I was a social director and absolutely hated it.

Are there IT departments on the cruisers, computer systems? I'm working in the IT sphere for years, I'm about to get IT Engineer degree so I thought to go on at least one contract on cruiser in IT Department

so I just got out of the navy... just wondering is there any position that I can apply to in the cruise? because I really want to work cuz I'm missing the ship life... I've been on deployments and I enjoyed it.. I worked with planes, I'm certified inboard firefighter.. I worked on security and safety.. and the kitchen.. I know I can handle the hours and having a roommate( I lived with 200+ sailors in one berthing) I just really want to work on a cruise ship because I feel like its a luxury compared to a carrier lol

dominic silva first off congrats and thank you for your service! Wow, with those qualifications you'd definitely get hired by a cruise company. They have onboard fire fighters and plenty of security guards. I think those would be great positions for you! Check out any cruise lines website to apply! You'd love cruise ship life, it's pretty luxurious for sure!

Customer service (like working guest services, entertainment hosts, etc) would be hired directly via the cruise lines. People who work in the stores are typically hired by Harding or Starboard.

The best way to get tips is to become wait staff in the dining room for the assigned dining so you get the same guests every night. Work the 7 day cruises because generally people leave the same tip regardless of the length of the cruise. You can make $150 - $200 USD a week tax free.

Any company would be happy to hire you! Since you speak so many languages, I think any European cruise line (such as Costa, MSC, Silver Sea) would be a great fit!

I can give you more information on the Deck Officer side of things. I’m from the U.K. So basically you do what is called a cadetship which is a three year program where you can either work for a specific company or through an agency firm who will sponsor your cadetship so you get a small amount of pay, you get onboard experience and if you choose the right company, you might get a job. You want to make sure you choose a good company who hires you out of the gate so ferry companies and cruises companies are a good bet. You do practical safety courses and it culminates with an oral exam with a ships captain to give you your license. If anyone has any questions, fire away 👌

@@justarandomperson9249 No. Security guards can have guard experience, ex police, or they will train you. However to become a security officer you generally need to have law enforecement experience.

There are no lifeguards but massage and fitness instructors work for the Spa and are run by Steiner or Canyon Ranch.

Nope! If you don't want to sign another contract, you don't have to! We did one full contract and left halfway through our second contract.

A purser! The purser on a cruise ship is a staff member in charge of financial matters onboard. Specifically, the Chief Purser oversees a staff that manages money and accounts, as well as many guest services on the ship. Behind the scenes, the purser's duties include accounting of cash during each sailing.

That's perfect! You should apply with a company like Harding or Starboard. They are the companies in charge of all retail on the ship. No cruise lines hire retail positions directly, you have to use these two companies. When you apply with them they place you on many different cruise lines which is really fun! That's what my boyfriend did on the ship!
