⏩ What's with the gloves?
Not after any KZread fame here which is why I'm not in the vids - they're not about me they're about the how-to! I used the gloves for the first couple of projects I filmed which just happened to be messy ones and it kinda just became a thing - easy to spot my videos! If that's not your thing and you'd prefer to watch a face, all good, I won't be offended, there's plenty of better looking ones to watch already on KZread ;)
⏩ Where did this start?
I really enjoy tinkering with different projects - they usually require a whole bunch of research and learning along the way. It's satisfying on doing a thing and standing back and going 'Yeah! Totally did that!'. I had a bunch of mates asking 'how did you know how to do that?' and 'I couldn't never do that myself so I thought; I need to start something where I can help others that might be thinking the same thing :)
⏩ What will you find here?
The purpose is simply to make these videos as top quality and helpful as I can. They will always be free, there's ZERO agenda and the only motive is to try and upload what I would want to watch to help with that particular project. I'm also keen to keep building this little community and will try to answer all questions when asked - fire away :)

I loved how you just stripped the wire to daisy chain things. I was definitely about to cut the wire. That's why I always try to watch a few videos on the things I'm about to do. I'm replacing all the switches in my boat. Could you possibly do a video on how to wire a double pole/double throw switch? Up position would be just the red/green nav lights. Down position would be all three nav lights, red/green nav lights and the white stern light.

Great video, I would like to know the little things also such as what gauge wire are you using and how do you hook the wire to the gauges so that they come on when your gauges come on? Do you use a t-tap and tap in somewhere? Also do you have to run the wires to the battery the positive and negative or can you use an expandable circuit and go to your fuse box and run the negative to a bolt to the metal frame? Things like that

For the 12V switch power (not dash lights) to trigger the relay (load), I am thinking of tapping into a near by existing cig lighter, that way it is only powered when the veichle is on then i wouldn't need a new fused source. this should work right?

G’day Adam ! Really enjoying your vids. I don’t know how often you check back on (older) vids, re: Comments. You wanted to hear about (our) Applications, and at the risk of being Wordy, here goes: 2003 Ford CamperVan switch panel in cockpit, two panels in cabin, and one at rear doors. I have a ‘habit’ of overusing Relays, in the aftermath of a vehicle fire some Decades past. My brother insists that the habit is ridiculous. Next, I have a pretty strong (distrust) of Chinese-produced wire products due to their proliferation of using CCA (copper clad aluminum) wire, as opposed to Better, Safer, more expensive true Copper. As it pertains to wire panels, I appreciate that you’re daisychaining using Your wire instead of oft-supplied, cheap #20 wire. My biggest question here is about power & loads in relation to daisychaining. Is it Safe to daisychain Grounds if each switch has varying amperage loads ? Is it Safe to daisychain the 12V switching feed in to say 6 switches, when/if more than one switch might be ‘on’ at same time ? Any changes to Fusing, wire size ? If you increase Fuse, doesn’t that create a risk if one switch fails during ‘on’ when chained to other ‘on’ switches ? The output To the end destination, do you always feed a relay from that line ? Several of my components are in the 30A range (driving, fog lights, …). I suppose my confusion centers around which legs should be fused, and how to protect switches, wire, etc when daisychaining ? I anticipate a small added fuse block somewhere in the cockpit to cover stereo components, and switch panels; but even those have current limitations. If I’m feeding straight 12V to that (added) block, out to switch, then daisychaining is moot, no ? Cheers !

So you ran one negative and one positive from the batter, a positive for the dash light and then a seperate wire from each switch to the relay to complete the circuit for the light bar, winch etc. How do you know what amp wire (& fuse) is sufficient for each of the positive and negative wires in given you might have multiple switches on at once?

To prevent parasitic drain, I want to put the USB and voltmeter on the last switch so it has to be on for them to work, and then can shut off when not in use. I also want to wire the small LED indicator lights to this switch so they come on when the switch is on too as it would be the first one I turn on. It is a bit of a puzzle. This was a great tutorial for making daisy chain jumpers, especially for doing the inline insulation removal to make it one continuous wire. I do have a question with regard to your (+) output wire from your switch to power your device/load. Since you have your single (+) & (-) wire leads to go to your source of power (battery) and the single output wire coming from the switch to go to your load i.e. a light bar. Where do you ground/earth your light bar to? Typically lights have a black (-) and (+) wires to power them. If you have one (+) coming out of the switch to connect to the red wire on the light, where do you connect the black wire on the light. Lets give the example that you have a light bar at the back of your vehicle and you switch panel is at the front of your vehicle. You are running a single (+) wire from your switch output to your light bar (+) wire. You still have a black wire on you light bar that needs to go to ground/earth. Ideally vehicle batteries (-) are grounded to the frame. Are you just finding a bare metal area, frame/body/nut/bolt to attempt to find ground/earth to to complete the circuit. I am making a switch panel out of a plastic project box and plan to have a single (+)(-) source "IN" and daisy chained to 6 switches much like you have, and then having a cable gland with the 6 (+) switch outputs coming out, but im curious about what to do about all the load/device grounds/earths. Granted i am able to find a nut or bolt near by with ground/earth continuity to the frame, is that all i have to do? Or should take that main (-) coming in to my box and and daisy with eye connector over to a threaded stud in the box to make a ground/earth stud and secure with a nut, and then take 2 eye connectors and twist 3 wire lengths together and crimp in each connector and then fasten to the ground/earth stud, and run the 6 (-) wires out of the cable gland with the 6 (+) wires? i hope i made any light of sense. Thanks for your time and any advice you may have.

Awesome Video! I do have a question. So I'm planning on having 3 switches and a volt reader. One for a Radiator fan, the other 2 for 2 separate led light set ups. So, after I set them up like this video showed, do I connect the Positive Power directly to the battery?? And for the dash lights wire, I have an adjustable lighting in my car. Do I hook it up to that directly to that or to the switch on my headlight switch is? Just need some help and can't seem to get the answers I need online.

@@VideoShowMeHow I have read about people finding the grounded prong in the radiator fan relay, putting wire in that specific slot and pressing the relay switch into it. I don't know if that is okay or not so I've been very skeptical of that method. And just read that my specific LEDs can be hooked up to the the fuse box and they have the proper circuit adapters with the fuse for them so I think I won't need the switch for those but definitely need one for the radiator fan and how to have the volt reader read the battery. Forgive me, very new to electrical stuff..

Subscribed..nice work Adam.. tech questions. Battery power in when piggy backing each switch say each switch rated to 20amp if your running 4 switches what would be the SINGLE fuse amp rating to safely run the 4 switches. Secondly tapping into side light/dash illumination wire how many milliamps or fuse for that single wire run into the same 4 switches and should you fuse at fuse box or fuse behind dash area.

I'm running a 6 switch panel and I believe this should work fine. Or should I just grab another fuse slot from my box specifically for the dash lights? I'd hate to rob a slot for something else I could use and doubt the LEDs in those draw much amperage. Thanks for any insight I appreciate it!

How would you wire in a main on/off LED rocker switch, to control all the other 5 pin rocker ACC switches? Would a simple 3 pin LED rocker switch work? Reason for asking, is my 10 gang marine control Carling switch panel, has Two main LED on/off 6 pin switches, & Eight ACC LED on/off 5 pin switches. Wires are all 10 AWG. The panel is divided in half, with one main 6 blade switch powering 4 ACC switches on each side of the panel (2 mains for 8 ACC). So a 10 gang panel, and all 10 have a 20A circuit breaker inline. Problem is the 6 pin main (2ea) Carling style rocker main power switches have broken. I can't find replacements anywhere! Best I can do is replace both 6 pin switches with ready available 3 or 5 pin switches. The panel was pre-wired (wired just like you show here) when purchased, and the manufacturer is no longer around. Trying to get my head around going from a 6 pin to a 3 or 5 pin. Also, the two main 6 pin switches have 5 hot (+) & 1 earth (-). Top left is +. Top right is -. Both center are +. Both lower are +. Best I can figure is the main 6 pin only need one ground, because it only has one led. Any help here would be massively appreciated!
