Thanks a lot it was such a great Helpful Video.
Seeing a Guru such as yourself using a Netgear Unmanaged Switch makes me feel really good about my own choices as a 60 year-old Luddite trying to keep up with modern technology, haha, thank you. Normally Open/Normally Closed seriously confuses and stumps many people, good explanation. Great video!

Ah mate, I'm still working my way up to your BOSS level of installing your own switchboard. I'm tempted to become an apprentice electrician so I can muck around with higher voltage - over here they only let you play with 12v at home. That Netgear unmanaged switch is great for POE, it's got a high wattage ceiling so you can plug in lots of POE devices and it'll handle it, a lot of the cheaper ones are low watt, so as soon as you start using the ports it'll starve and not be able to power all the devices.

@@headsoftech Thanks for the Netgear POE tip. I plan on adding a few security cameras to cover my property and POE would eliminate having to worry about maintaining solar, batteries and wireless issues. Dogs are pooping in my front yard and I am determined to identify the owners walking them so I can deliver their dog's poop back to them, haha.

Legend, I recently wired up a security cam system here - just used a proprietary 4k DVR package as it was cheaper. You know what I'll post that video actually, maybe it'll give you some ideas or something to laugh at.

Thanks mate...exactly the tutorial I’ve been looking for ... clear and well presented...!
Thank you for this video.. I have been looking everywhere for a video explaining how a power supply works within an access control system and this finally put the last piece of the puzzle together for me.,
Thanks a lot. On my intercom already had the 12V output. I needed to bridge GRD to NC. Your video helped to work it out.

Good explanation. Thanks!
Great video!
Helped me for connecting dahua DHI-VTO2202F-P. So yeah thanks mate
Very good video is clear door electronic lock points
Excellent video
Thank you for this video
Important to add, that handling live wires, that they NOT touch(short) each other. As you can be breaking/blowing stuff up. So better to leave a little bit more plastic on the wire ends.
NO = Normally Open, NC = Normally Closed

When you connected the POE splitter you used a 2nd ethernet poe cable.. is it possible to use just 1? the same the you use to connect the Intercom

I also join to the question, can the splitter be used for both the intercom and the lock? thanks.
Hi, I have a AMOCAM Wired Video Intercom System at my home. It don't thave enough lighting at night. So, I was thinking of connecting a DC LED light to this. Basically, I want to know if this is possible to work when a person presses the intercom button and turns on the light automatically. ?
Hey-Yo, My Tech Guy, have you got a recommended Portable Power Banks For MacBook Pro 16" and 13"?
Can you help me understand what you’re saying at 1.05 mins in NO means when there is current, it’s open NC means when there is current, it’s closed You’ve said the same thing for both scenarios or am I just not understanding this correctly?
I have a latch that buzzes loudly would a ac to dc rectifier make it silent ?
Fantastic video, im thinking about installing a video intercom as well, would the wiring be similar for an electric sliding gate. thanks

Thank you for the super quick response, i your videos are great, I take it that you didn't connect your home intercom system to the sliding gate so you can press the unlock button to open the gate. i have the gate already that opens with a remote, but from the house, the signal can't reach the gate, I'd like to install the intercom that also opens the gate from the monitor that has the unlock button.

Ah nice one, I haven't tried myself, but I imagine it'd be similar. Best to always read the manual or contact the manufacturer of the motor/intercom to confirm. Let me know how you get on.
Great Video! Why did you follow the wiring diagram of 'Magnetic Lock' and not 'Electronic Lock' or 'Elecro Mechanical' lock?
@headsoftech

Nice one. I went for the NO configuration - so the lock is normally closed which is shown as an Electronic lock in the diagrams. I just explained it in a dynamic way, using the NC diagram and converting it to NO, to hopefully give viewers the idea that you can still figure it out if all the variations aren't shown.

@@headsoftech Ah ok understand. the exact NO configuration you went with was directly above in the 'Electronic Lock' diagram. Thanks so much for your detailed video it really helped me out! I am now suscribed!

Ah mate, I sold my Mac Pro 5,1 a few years back, but I heard that it runs best with High Sierra, since Mojave getting Bootcamp installed has gotten into Boss mode territory.

Strange, that VTO outputs 12 Volts and 2 A. That lock needs only 0.2 A, So you dont really need a spliter. 2 Amps of power coming from that particular VTO would be more than enough, dont you think? Something is not right. What model is it? it look like a DHI-VTO3221E-P. Maybe the one you are operating is an older model
Just get wyze products use a smart plug and or electric deadbolt doorbell
NO=Normally Open NC= Normally Closed
