Winterizing your vehicle is very important if you live in a part of the country where Winter brings freezing temperatures. Freezing temperatures can put a great deal of stress on your vehicles' engine and related systems. Cold temperatures can also bring ice and snow, a challenge to your vehicle and to you. But, if you prepare properly, you can have your vehicle at it's best and be way more ready for any unforeseen circumstances.
This video shows what I do to winterize and prepare my vehicles for our cold mid-west winter weather!

Great video. I also keep extra blankets and non-perishable snacks should triple AAA take long to assist. I am super paranoid so I also keep hand n feet warmers just in case. Loved the video Tx for sharing

Keep a few Dura Flame logs in the trunk. If you have a break down light the logs.🔥

In addition to the previous equipment another considerations could be. Kitty litter/sand in the trunk if possible low to or over the rear axle. This provides ballast and heavier back of the vehicle for traction. Fuel: Relax I am not talking about five gallon cans but keep the fuel tank pretty fuel. Extra rear axle weight can translate to better traction. You heard me. Wheels biting deeper into the snow can actually help reduce chances of a spin. Seems counter intuitive but read about it. As the fuel burns off the sand/kitty litter/ballast can take over. Also pick a non freezable ballast. cement Blocks, sand, kitty litter etc..... For those videos that recommend water keep this in mind. It can freeze so keep it in a temperature controlled environment, preferably cabin but you can also put some bottles on the front cabin passenger footwell if no passenger. You Milano get in a situation where the remaining bottles can freeze. I would have no problem with taking sips of the bottle before it freezes, expands and cracks the bottle. Yes that may mean a few sips out of WAA h bottle but would you rather have let’s say a twelve pack. I would rather have six warm and six partially open bottles to prevent expansion rhan six totally cracked unusable bottles. Rare obscure thought but a small cooling pan can come in handy as a ice melting device. Use the engine to slowly melt the ice and recaps the water back to the bottles before the crack and become unusable. A very cheap pan that won’t melt to plastic since about every modern vehicle has a plastic trim cover in the engine compartment. I might be in TX now but I got my teeth cut after 18 years in New England, three in Ohio, nine in Indianapolis, plus one In Minneapolis and seven in PA/MD. Never once had to put this equipment into use but Murphy says the time you need the stuff nothing else will do and stores will be closed. Major business storm closures should automatically be a sign the trip may not be as critical as you think!!

@@HowSkills yep. Again the days of major and long term Primary road closures are rare but they can still happen occasionally and they may make closure decisions earlier for safety. Sooner you shut it down sooner plows can get to work. Also remember that if the plows can’t keep up with the precipitation rate they may just close and wait out the storm before plowing.
