    Ian had a WAAAAAAY harder position, you can't even imagine how crazy is to win a normal Queen vs Rook endgame, this position is already a victory, meanwhile here can mate in 16 and is already a victory, in normal positions like Ian had it is mate 26+ that even some engines say just +60 and not seen a mate

    @@Deathf1yeryeah its very difficult in Blitz in most titled Tuesdays there’s always one guy in a rook vs queen ending. The weaker side shifts his rook back and forth for 50 moves on the third rank and then it’s drawn. It’s impossible to figure out the procedure otb. The defence was discovered by the bell computer (making it the first time a tool discovered something mankind didn’t know) and Walter Browne passed the 50 move rule. That was in a classical game so good luck in a blitz game.

    Qa5 is also winning bro 😁 if Kc8, then Qa8+, Kc7, Qa7+ if Ke8, then Qb5 pinning the rook if Rc7 blocking the check, then Kd6

  • @62sy

    @62sy

    Qb6+ is better. After kc8 you play Qc6+ and take the rook on the next move. If Ke8 then you just pin the rock and take on the next move.

  • @christopherpavlicas

    @christopherpavlicas

    You're correct. There are several ways to win in this position. But since you mentioned Qa5+, did you consider Qb6+? Qb6+ is more efficient. In fact, I prefer it to his move because Qb6+ begins with Check. It is the first move I considered.

  • @jorgecancino4560
    @jorgecancino4560 Жыл бұрын

    I probably overanalyzed this, but the sequence I found started with Qb6+ with three variants. If Kc8, Qc6, getting the rook regardless of the next move and winning. If Rc7, Qb8+, Rc8, Qd6+, Ke8, Qe7 mate. If Ke8, Qb8+, Rd8, Qb5+ where you can find more variants. If they block with Rd7, Qd7+ and it's winning by material. If they do Kf8, then Qf5+, forcing Kg8 because of the mate on Qf7 if Ke8. After Kg8, Qf7+, Kh8, Qf6+ with a fork. You win the rook and eventually the game. Needless to say I felt extremely dumb after seeing how simple the actual answer was.

  • @yosua0

    @yosua0

    Yeah, I came up with Qb6+ / Qa6+ up aswell, they also work and Qb6+ is actually also Mate in 6 moves so as good as an answer as Qb5 :)

    Nice but you did a lot of miscalculation, First you are right there's 3 variations. Qb6+ followed by: 1) Rc7, Kd6 and you will win the rook on the next move because of the pin (i found it easier). Or your method. 2)Ke8, Qc6 pinning the rook to the king and you will win the rook on the next move. You went for unnecessary check. 3)Kc8, Qc6+, Rc7 is what you missed I'm not saying it is not winnable but it has a lot of variations and it is not easy Best way to win this type of position is to attack the rook first.
