    I have a few tips myself. It's better to rank low in a Prix than to explode, you don't get nearly as much points if you explode midway, play for longevity. Like Andre said, use your skyway effectively, because it won't drop you on a tight turn you can make it drop you further than it normally would if you time it right, On mute city use it right before the the Z shaped turn to skip to the end, on big blue use it on the 90 degree turn near the start and so on. Don't Play every car and swap every couple rounds, Pick one and master it, Blue falcon is all around, Golden fox has high health recovery and boost but is very fragile, Wild goose is best suited for combat but can't recover health alot, and Fire stingray is the fastest and turns the best but has poor recovery and combat, Pick a playstyle and run with it. Practice courses in time trials to get a feel for your vehicle, it does help. Avoid red bumpers like the plague, try your hardest to not hit them, Grey bumpers are fragile, when you see one glowing and smoking you can spin into it for a free KO and health increase. And lastly, Play defensively, the game advises you to play aggressive and go for KO's but it's risky, Check for the orange arrows at the bottom of the screen for racers right behind you and try to block them to get boosts for free and save spins for bad situations, don't spin willy-nilly or you won't have it when you need it.     Blocking racers behind you is *critical* if you’re using the fire stingray because it’s so hard to get up to max speed otherwise, and a single boost consumes an ABSURD amount of your energy.

    ​@@jc___underscore___Very true. I was in dead last, pretty far away from the rest of the pack, and completely out of health when I was coming into the latter half of the last lap on Silence. But I was very close to having the skyway gauge filled up, so I just took it super slow and focused on grabbing orbs while staying alive. Getting on that skyway thrusted me from a distant last at 17th place to finishing in a much better 11th place.

    its pretty crazy how much more direct it is compared any of the previous battle royale types. Tetris 99 is Tetris with more players, Pac-man 99 and Mario 35 were the same concept just with a single player game. the one thing all 3 had for a "new mechanic" was directing how your "attacking" went. meanwhile this is 99 players actually directly fighting each other on their way to the finish line. and the skyway is a nice new concept to the SNES-style F-Zero gameplay.

    im still trying to figure out how they expect you to make 6 back to back 90 degree angle turns in that one track. i was trying to get the time clear for it, but they expect you to do it insanely fast. yet you HAVE to go REALLY slow to even make one of those turns.

    Just to really emphasize Tip 6: Spinning makes you invincible from racers! That means even if you're in the Power Down state, you can survive getting hit by another player if you time it just right. And if you get a KO it'll bring you out of Power Down. Had myself saved from elimination this way in a Grand Prix

    Here are some strategies I learned: - Boosting right after the starting line will immediately get you up to top speed. This is especially useful with Fire Stingray, which has the highest top speed but the slowest acceleration, and the boost will negate the acceleration downside. - I try to conserve the boost meter to finish strong in the last lap, sometimes even saving up a full bar on more difficult tracks. Using the boost right before the repair zone will negate the meter you just used as well. It's helpful to get up to top speed after releasing the gas around tight turns, and you can use the remainder of your boost meter at the end of the last lap for a last-second catch-up. - I save one of my skyway boosts for the last lap to finish strong, even if I get one the lap before. You can get 2 or 3 skyways in a race, so use your first one early to make room for another. - You want to release the gas for better handling around hairpin turns, but you should also enter the turn on the outside so you can curve into the turn tight and exit out of it closer to the inside. - Practice in Practice mode/Time Trials! It's a great way to familiarize yourself with the courses in a low risk environment, so you will know how to take each turn in multiplayer. You can unlock a profile background from achievements on each course as well.

    2nd point seems almost required for wild goose, that recovery rate is painful 3rd point is exactly how i got 3rd place on port town 2 once, but my record is 2nd on big blue thanks to a kill at the end of lap 3 that took me from about to die to full health 5th is especially important for the last tracks of all the grand prix leagues (silence, white land 2 and later fire field), because you can't play those tracks outside of grand prix or practice mode

    This game absolutely rules! F-Zero coming back strong! Honestly? As someone who's played a ton of F-Zero games over the years including the original, X, Maximum Velocity and GX, this might well actually be the best one yet. I'm really hoping this proves popular and revives the series for an entirely new release! Play this game! After so long, it's finally good to be an F-Zero fan again!

    Pac man 99 didn’t work as a battle royale, and super Mario bros 35 was made for a limited time. Seeing how this is the first f-zero game in years, and the fact that Tetris 99 is also still alive, I can see it lasting longer than pac man 99 and Mario bros 35

    SMB 35 was advertised as limited edition. Meanwhile, Pac-Man 99 belonged to Bandai Namco, so it was probably their decision to shut it down. So unless the player count absolutely craters, I think it'll be fine.

    @@Gigawood Oh, yeah, this format works great! Nice way to implement the original game’s “safe zone” mechanic as well. Really; this would’ve been received better if: 1: This wasn’t the first F-Zero game in two decades. 2: There weren’t so many battle royale games on the market already. But it’s fun and that’s what matters; really!

    Yeah I realized that after 2 days of playing that the skyway is like the bullet bill extensions where on certain courses if you use it the skyway will last longer because the game doesn't want to drop you in an awkward place. I was hoping you would end the video by saying show me your moves XD

    Just a note about #7: You can get the Power extensions from Gray Bumpers and other players, but taking down the latter also fully recharges your machine, good for a few boosts (more so if you've scored multiple takedowns in the event.)

    Gonna piss a lot of people off with this, but F-Zero 99 is the most fun I've ever had with an F-Zero game. To be fair the only other ones I've played are SNES and X, which are great in their own right, but wow, the formula of this series fits the 99-player battle royale so damn well. It's not the big sequel/GX remaster people were hoping for but this had a lot of love put into it regardless.

    I kinda feel the same way. I know it's heresy, but I honestly don't like the 3D F-Zero games. All I've wanted was more of the SNES games, and this feels like a great addition! I just wish we got the BS Satellite cars and tracks on here!

    Well, it's obviously better than the SNES original and the N64 one is already 25 years old itself. GX is the one which was ahead of its time and still plays amazingly and would only need an HD version (and easier difficulty options for beginners). Just makes sense that a game partly made in 2023 is more approachable than games from the 90s. I like it as well and hope they expand it by adding more tracks, vehicles and maybe even modes or dare I dream a physical edition like they did with Tetris 99. Still hoping for that GX remaster as well though since it's by far the best of the franchise.

    @@SaltyToad00 From my understanding from playing the game, do correct me if I'm wrong, when you KO a grey car it raises your health meter, but doesnt heal you. But KO-ing another player raises your health bar AND refills it

    Been loving this game so far and these are some excellent tips. Best I’ve done so far is 2nd, twice. I also made 12th in a knight league Grand Prix. It’s so much fun and lowkey one of the best-looking games on Switch.

    One thing to add to the skyway is the fact that you can actually extend it's duration by using it in certain areas of the track. I can't really say exactly which ones, but generally, if it runs out on a tricky area (like with a sharp turn or big obstacle) it will boost you past it before dropping you back to the track.

    Another note: using the skyway in certain spots will cause it to last a lot longer because the game won't drop you above pits or on sharp corners where you'd immediately hit a wall. It's a bit similar to bullet extensions in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. There are also parts where the skyway skips a significant portion of the track, such as the zigzag portion with a lot of off-road in Mute City I. Getting a feel for where these shortcuts and extensions are can help you get a lot more value out of the skyway.

    I know the Queen and King Leagues will eventually come but I'd want to see the Ace League (which was only in Japan and that had Mute City IV, Big Blue II, Sand Storm I, Silence II and Sand Storm II as tracks) along with its vehicles (Blue Thunder, Luna Bomber, Green Amazon and Fire Scorpion) as future update(s). Though why stop there and have the GBA tracks and vehicles as well.

In all seriousness though,to all the Golden Fox players you actually wanna boost a bit more aggressively with that machine because your recovery allows you to get more life than other machines,so you’ll always be boosting more than other machines.

    one thing about the 4th point (don't go boost crazy) the amount of boosting you can do depends on the vehicle's recovery stat for example: golden fox can fully heal off of a single pit zone, where as the wild goose can only really get a single boost worth of energy and about 7th point (go for takedowns) killing a player will fully restore your energy bar, making it extremely important for low recovery vehicles (wild goose and fire stingray) killing a gray bumper only heals an amount of energy equal to the increase to max energy

    Here are my tips after playing for a few hours: 1. When your boost is unlocked, make haste for the pits! With high-regen cars like the Golden Fox or Blue Falcon, you can negate (or mostly nullify) your very first expenditure of energy if you immediately boost and charge into the pits. In tracks that don't have a traditional pit lane, save your boost for when you actually make it there. It'll make a great start to the race regardless. From there, make it a habit to keep your boost topped up so that you can utilize this regen tech again in later laps. With low-regen cars, you can still utilize this on the first lap to get a head start. 2. Spin attacks galore! To expand on the video's point about this, spin attacks should be used as often as possible when you're in heavy traffic. Not only are you invincible, but you also do a bit of damage and knock-away, so if constant but strategic spinning knocks some fellow racers out, that's more wiggle room for you! Do be warned, the clashes between players and bumpers are what generate the super boost items if you're ahead of the big gold cars, so you'll probably find you need to use the boost more often to stay in the lead, or keep a skyway visit available just in case. 3. WATCH OUT! If you're in the lead, you and the position jockeys behind you will face heavy and explosive bumper cars that constantly spawn ahead of you a bit into the first lap. The heavy bumper cars will kick you around and the explosive ones will really damage your shields. This is another reason you need your shields to be available in case you mess up. 4. I agree with the strategic use of the Skyway. Once your super boost meter runs out, you're supposed to get dropped off, but Nintendo thought ahead and let it exist as long as there's a turn after the normal fade-out period, so that you don't plunge into the city, forest or sea below unwittingly. If you use it just before tricky sections, it can really save your hide or turn the course of a bad race you're otherwise having.

    @@Gigawood I lean as hard as I can on those hairpins to ensure limited exposure to said bumpers until I get to the upcoming straight. You can also use the spin attack mid-turn to avoid getting blasted off somewhere inexplicably if you're paranoid enough, though you still take some damage.

    If you're in 1st place and it's the last lap, focus almost solely on just avoiding the CPU bumper cars rather than going "fast"/boosting. Nearly all my 1st place finishes are because I kept a cool head and focused on dodging them than worrying about someone coming up behind and passing me. If you dodge well and let the explody

    Good luck! F-Zero is NOT an easy game. If you want some more practice, the tracks and gameplay come straight out of the original SNES F-Zero, which is on the SNES app on the switch. 😄 Fire Field is going to be an absolute NIGHTMARE when it releases, lol

    Also use the skyway in elect spots as doing so will have it run out of juice in areas where the track isn't straight enough for it to let you go back down. Also, on some straights, if you are on the side of the skyway that is hanging over the dead zone, it will refuse to put you down until you move over on those areas. One example of a good spot is just before the ramp in Mute City and when you are coming to the first wavy turn leading to the magnet barriers in Port town 1 or 2. On Port Town 1, it'll more or less finish the lap for you save for the first corner and on 2 it will take you past the final wavy section too as it cannot drop you safely until just after the last bend before the racing line. On White City 1 I found the best place for me is right before the 180 turn as it allows you to catch a yellow boost but runs out just in time to drop you on the final ramp at full speed, allowing you to clear the entire corner and land almost as far as the next 180 turn. So far I have been able to make these skynet uses at least 2 times per race and consistently end up in the top 10, and usually 5 or higher and have won quite a few grand prix too.

    Also, if you lean briefly before turning, you'll turn way faster than normal. I call it "Hot Turn" since you kick up the sparks and your ship yanks immediately into the turn.

    Another tip is to look for stray cars near the areas before the pit. If someone is way out from the heard it means they are VERY low on energy and being in the bunch WILL kill them. Just boost up their a**, spin, take the full heal and max energy increase and bypass the pit entire (as you wouldn't need to go into it after that). I get at least 1 KO per race from that. It might not sound like much but by the 3rd lap that full heal is godly and doing it in all 4 races leading up to the last track in grand prix means you are basically unstoppable come the last track with the insane energy meter you will start with. Also the grey cars ALSO give you max energy increase too and are easier to get KOs on so grab those guys in mini and grand prix (not so useful in single races as they only give back 1 boost of energy with it).

    A main tip that people should know is to steer using the d-pad. Using the analog stick can make steering a little wonky since you can overcorrect on movement and end up making your car go back and forth.

    I knew holding down got you a further jump but I did NOT know holding down before you land stops you from losing speed. I must have missed that tip in the tutorial???

    its not mentioned there. there are things mentioned in the controls in optiosn that the tutorial doesnt talk about. i tried the "gliding" in practice and found out there about the lack of speed loss when landing. and i think you HAVE to make use of that to clear the course times in practice. heck, some jumps dont get you fully over some obstructions if you dont hold down to glide further.

    Spin Tip: Always prioitize having spin available to you when you're going through a pit area. That way you can try to knock others out of the pit area and give them less chance to recover energy.

    Other tip from a loading screen: If you see a smoking racer, boost or spin into them. It will instantly take them out even if they're only just barely in the danger threshold. Also, I slightly disagree about not using the Skyway on a more straight part of the course. There are WAY more speed boost panels on easier parts of the course, allowing you to go waaaaaaay further on it than if you pop it in a tricky area with tight curves. Sure, it can save you from some really nasty turns, but if you can handle the tricky parts of the course manually, save the Super Boost for when you can maximize distance gained on it.

    It's always better to finish than explode, you'll always beat a rival and rank up. Basically, just avoid boosting, especially on expert tracks. Bring behind is not so bad, you get a lot of gold orbs.

    It's a great re-start for the F-Zero saga. In the future I hope to see online private lobbies and local multiplayer for this or a new F-Zero game, in this way community and official tournaments can be organized as in Mario Kart and Splatoon.

    The gray bumpers have put me in worse situations than the red ones man, the slight bump it gives can totally screw up your alignment for turns and make you miss important boosts and whatnot, by far the most frustrating part of the game lol, but I still love it

    Okay, at the time I started this comment I’ve only seen tips 1-2 and I am letting it go, breaking, commenting, then letting it go again because a broken clock is right twice a day. 1. This displays a boost start but doesn’t explain it well, nor which vehicles should start which way and when they should. If your the only car (like in time trials) you time the presses. 3, 2, 1, press and hold gas and you get a boost start without stalling out. Slightly slower than if you stall out. This is optimal for Golden Fox (ALWAYS) and time trials. HOWEVER… there are situational times with other cats present where you want the one that stalls you out. -Fox: never -Falcon: if there is a fox next to you (the more the better) do the start where you stall out and look at the indicator for cars behind you and get in front and let the fox bump you forward. if it’s a stingray or goose and no foxes around use the version that doesn’t stall out and be on the lookout for if they try to get a stall boost and use you to bump them forward. -Goose: you use the stall boost only if there’s a Falcon near you. You can’t get a bump from a fox. Be wary of stingrays. Also, if a Falcon is dump enough to try stall bumping you just spin attack them. -Stingray: if you see a Falcon or Goose near you at the start stall boost and have them bump you forward. Otherwise if it’s foxes or other stingrays just do the boost start without the stall. 2. Sigh…. Clearly they don’t… whatever. Okay, so turning is also Vehicle specific. Here’s a break down of the fundamentals of taking a turn in auto racing that applies to this game and pretty much every racing game (with slight modifications based on game physics). Tires use grip to accelerate, break, and turn. The capacity of grip that can be used before a tire loses traction (starts to slide out or drift) is 100%. This varies from car to car and in a games physics engine it varies from car to car and follows the games rules. If you exceed 100% (turning too sharp [for the speed], breaking too hard, accelerating too hard, or any combination of the 3 and you exceed 100% of the grip capacity, you slide out. If you’re able to always use 100% grip, you’re a speed god. If you’re a professional speed runner or auto sports racer with world records you’re probably using on average 98-102% of your grip). So, the proper way to take a turn is first of all make the LARGEST turn radius possible for said turn (unless you can take it at max speed with a smaller radius). The larger the turn radius the faster you can go. How do you achieve a larger turn radius? If you take the inside line that’s the smallest. If you take the outside it’s larger, but it can be bigger. If you start on the outside of a turn and are inside the turn at the Apex of the turn, then back outside this is the largest turn radius you can take which allows you to take it at the highest speed, which will be faster. To set this up you make sure your speed is at the fastest you can possibly take the turn (no slower, no faster). Go outside, break (if needed, not often in this game, usually just let off the gas), turn, hit the apex, hit the gas coming outside the turn. however… each car is different and video game physics. -Fox: use what I said above, it actually controls the closest to a race car. -Goose: similar to fox, but occasionally tap gas to regain grip -Falcon: tap gas a bit more. -StingRay: best handling just make sure you let go of gas and tap anytime your at 478. If it’s below 478 it gets crazy cornering ability. Longer turns you tap gas a lot to make sure you’re about 475-477 in speed and never 478 so you have good cornering. This video game physics and logic work in this, but not most games and definitely not IRL. 3. Broke clock is right twice a day, this is once. 4. Sigh… kinda. Depends on the vehicle. It’s a very generic tip. Each vehicle recovers boost at different rates and each has a different value for health. However, the amount of health depleted to boost is the same for each vehicle. In order of best health recovery to worst as well as lowest health to highest you have Fox, Falcon, Stingray, Goose. With Fox you can do 21 boosts per race (if you don’t get a KO and take zero damage and recover in the pit each lap). With Goose you can do 13. 5.25 boosts per lap to 3.25 boosts per lap. But this is going into power down mode… So with fox you should boost about 3-4 times a lap and Goose only 1-2. Fox can essentially boost twice as much as Goose. 5. Okay… close… Spin before you take a jump to be safe in the air. Because it restores spin. Also, each cat jump’s different lengths. In order of weight from lowest to highest it’s Fox, Falcon, Stingray, Goose. Holding up makes the jump longer but slightly slower. Holding down makes it faster and shorter. And yes, press down when landing so you don’t lose speed. Also if you have 478 speed with Stingray and there are no corners to cut from a jump it’s faster on the ground more often than not. 6. Yes, it negates damage and knock back… but there’s more to say. When you are overtaking a car on a tight turn spinning is helpful because it negates knock back (also damage). And when someone is approaching from behind you can spin in defense so they don’t knock you around. Also use it when in crowds approaching a boost or jump to ensure you aren’t knocked around and can make your line. 7. KOing gray cars extends meter and gives a slight health recovery that about 1 boost worth. KOing human controlled cats give a full health recovery. Health bar extension caps at 3 extensions. So, in GP you can farm for 3 extensions in early races to have more boost/health, but after that they only give a health restore. 8. Broken clock is right twice a day. 9. Sigh… Each track has spots where you should boost. Look up the boost sections for F-Zero SNES speedruns, every car should boost there once per lap. Then there are secondary, tertiary, etc spots to boost. If you get the skyway and it’s a straight away but also a spot to boost, boost there. If you’re a novice, sure, use skyway for tricky spots. If you’re more skilled use it for spots you’d normally use boost. Or secondary boost sections. Also, you can hold onto skyway to help get KO’s. Without skyway you have to be mindful of your line when getting a KO. WITH skyway, you can go out of your way for a KO and fly off in a direction that’s difficult to recover from and pop the skyway. A. You get the KO and have a good line that doesn’t need adjustment and you just continue and use skyway later when it’s better to use. B. You get the KO and are in a bad spot and desperately need realignment so you use the skyway to get right. C. Miss the KO and have bad alignment and use skyway to get right. Also if you’re in first with a skyway you can save it to use the moment someone comes near you to avoid an overtake and/or just after they overtake. If you are near the pit stop drive normally in the pit then use the skyway. Skyway recovers less health cause you’re going faster You’re about to die, use skyway. You CAN die in the skyway, but it’s less likely as most cats are grounded.

    Everytime I go into a GP it’s stacked full of 99 S20 players. I’m only A- I’ve been up there close to leading before but some of those guys are ridiculous. Played White Land 1 earlier and 2 guys finished 10 seconds ahead of the field. Definitely some insider knowledge on that track.

    I would say start out with the Wild Goose since it takes the least amount of damage and collisions don't affect it as much. Perfect for when you're in the middle of the chaos. Just don't overuse your boost unless you really need it, or you won't have the health to survive the 4 laps.

    ^yeah, the wild goose and blue falcon are probably the easiest to start with. The Fire Stingray, which was the best car in the SNES game by a mile, is the most difficult to use in 99 by a long shot.

    @@Surl9596 Probably somewhere where being airborne too long will cost you speed, or cause you to jump out of the track entirely. Or the first set of jumps in White Land, so that you can hit more jumps and get more spins. It will probably end up being something of a rhythmic up-down-up-down for short jumps with clean landings.

    Blue Falcon: all-around vehicle, second highest acceleration, & second slowest top speed (which isn't saying much compared to...) Golden Fox: slippery glass cannon, best acceleration, worst top speed, fast energy recovery, & gets more Boosts compared to the others Wild Goose: takes less damage from attacks, doesn't get pushed around as easily from other vehicles, second highest top speed, second worst acceleration, & slowest energy recovery Fire Stingray: worst acceleration, BEST top speed and handling, and apparently not too good at aggressive driving (aka, attacking other players; don't quote me on that one)

    your reccomendation #1 isn´t fully correct. Same with the SNES Version of FZero, with the early start you get that initial boost, and when you then move to the side so another car bumps you in the back, you can actually have an even better start than with a normal oder super boosted start

    I think it would vary with the vehicle: Falcon and Fox would probably use the early boost better with their acceleration to recover from burnout, while Goose and Stingray would be better with the timed boost to make up for weaker acceleration.

    So, 6 hours in. "Little screen" test 3 hours "Big screen" retest over 2 hours, so that i dont blame the game for no reason. Sadly this game is gimmicky at best thats because of the fact, that there are too many CPU players on the streets that behave very rubber bandy and like a hockey puck, no matter how perfect on the edge you cut those bends if the Game wants you out it gets you out (main mechanic to create a demand to play), this goal is reached by several factors: Your speed decreases/others speed up (outside of boost power) so, that you will check if your thumb really is on the controller. Goldencart, that is at times impossible not to hit, will start to dodge you like a fing Fish if you need it the most. The outranking comes sudden and inballanced and unbelievably brutal. For instance, you barely make it to 60 because of the factors i just mentioned but on big blue you, which is harder, you are in the top twenty, in the third race your in the middle and in the following race you get trampled on without making any mistakes, while smoking (boosts used). Its impossible to keep up because of the speed issue with the rest, still in a grand prix you mostly see the 1. place just a few hundred meters before you. STILL you will be outranked (would be MUCH better if just the last three would be !) because its impossible not to use boost power, should be easy, because of the nature of the game, to find other smoking vehicles right? must be a death meatch shit fest right? WRONG. you barely EVER meet a smoking car and the stupid gimmicky "turning attack" that is as accurate as a stuffed animal vending machines "robot arm" doesnt help either. The third factor are the controls, they rather are oriented towards the advance title, than on the X, XS or what it is called, or weirdly even the original, from which the courses and graphix are originating from. sometimes the circle curve "air brake thingy" just doesnt grip, even if you go off of the throttle(pro controller wireless and wired).. which comes across like "well, mister server i pressed the button" server:"request received, button press rejected" the normal ramming (Fzero X, R-L Buttons doublepress, red outline) would have been the better opinion and it would have turned this game into a thrilling extreme e sports parade instead of a browser game. The result is the following: I kept on playing because of a "broken heart" (revengious feelings) rather than because i had so much fun (rewarding gameplay). Thats the wrong way to keep people in a game if you ask me ! (reminds me on on evil GF's) This game has an artificial filter on it that creates handycaps triggered by several factors, which i cant tell you i just KNOW that this is artificial game control. Sadly very common in the free to play, massive multiplayergame- industry.

    ​@silverdamascus2023 The only reason Pac Man 99 is closing is because the servers and IP are OWNED BY BANDAI NAMCO, not Nintendo. Super Mario 35 was only meant to coincide with the 35 Anniversary.

    @@silverdamascus2023 Tetris 99 released in 2019. Its still going strong. Mario 35 ended because it was always an anniversary only title. Pac-Man 99 isn't Nintendo so who knows what Namco's deal is. There is no telling how long F-Zero 99 will last, but if its several years from now, there isn't a reason to think about it right now.

Many games released nowadays are dependent on servers that if shut down, your game becomes non-existant, even single-player games.
