    Good tips mentioned in this video. I am not sure how many people will see this comment, but I do have a couple of tips to provide, mostly adding on to what was already mentioned: 1. Have a general idea of how much energy you recover in the healing zones at your max (non-boosting) speed. As you look at different machines, you will notice each machine recovers energy at different rates. If you look at this with the Golden Fox for example, you will understand why Fox players try to frontrun right away. Fox and Falcon players almost recover their full energy right away, and Goose and Stingway players generally recover about a boost's amount (about a boost and a half for Stingway). This can help gauge your energy if you can think about how often per lap you can boost, and stick to that if you can, as you really should not boost if your car is already smoking. You can be KOed with a spin attack or a Red Bumper as soon as you hit the Power Down stage. Only push yourself beyond that if you think you can cross the finish line without anyone spin attacking you (and ideally, you have your spin attack for defense). 2. Know when to spin attack. I tend to use spin attacks a bit more defensively myself. You are far less likely to get knocked around if you are spinning, so I save it for times where it would be better if I do not get knocked around, such as trying to hit arrows or navigate sharp turns. Spin attacks can also help if you think a Bumper might hit you on the side as you are trying to squeeze past them. Lastly, if you can, spin attack anything that you can see is smoking, whether a Gray Bumper or another Rival, as the spin attack does more damage than just bumping. I would say these two alone should significantly help you if you are not already thinking about energy management and making good use of your spin attacks.

    That spin attack tip alone improved my play a ton! I didnt realize just how good spin attack can be in those specific situations. Specifically for not getting pushed away from the arrow boosts and for the sharp turns. Thanks for helping me realize that

    Excellent sir! Managing your health and speed is really what the game is all about. Learning the courses and how each vehicle preforms, comes with time and practice. Use Practice mode!! it really helps you improve your times. Also aim for longevity in the Grand Prix's until you can fight for the top. It's not worth crashing out in the first race or in the second.

    Great tutorial! Here's my personal tip that may or may not be helpful, but for me has worked well while playing as Golden Fox: If I notice that my Super Boost meter is really close to full, and I have a decent bit of HP while the healing strip is not far off, I try to sneak in a boost or two right before filling up on Sparks. Once that's full, you're locked out of regular boosts, potentially for a good while until you hit your optimal Super Boost spot.

    Stingray player here, since the SNES era. If you are a Stingray main, know that you are playing the long game. What I mean is that, due to the slow acceleration, you have to be patient and wait for your machine to go over 450, and then, you can outrun ANYTHING (except for other Stingrays). While crushing into other cars may not slow you as much, crashing into the borders, grazing them, and rough terrain can do a number on your velocity. Learn each track by heart, and only use boost if it's really necessary.

So I need my health to not explode from taking hits, and what is even worse is the speed loss from getting mauled by a goose. • @TedbearFZ

    @TedbearFZ

    10 ай бұрын

    1) Depends on the machine, spinning would def kill it most likely but if its like a golden fox or blue falcon a little touch can be enough to kill it. 2) Blast-Turning simply means tapping the accelerator very quickly while steering through a corner. Without it, Fire Stingray (blast tapping/turning is best for that machine) will have a bad tendency to under-steer and continue going straight, certainly at top speed.

    My biggest issue is I feel like I don't have enough energy to stay ahead. I play Wild Goose because every other car I try gets bounced around by the pack, I miss turns and lose speed because everyone gets in the way. Sometimes I can manage to get up front but then the pack just starts catching up to me, either through Skyway or general attrition. And on the rare chance I do get a good lead, the game throws so many exploding cars in my way I eventually get hit and then everyone catches up.

  • @TedbearFZ

    @TedbearFZ

    10 ай бұрын

    1) Swag pfp >:) 2) Racing lines and improving your general driving ability can be very challenging in this game especially with everyone else on the field. The main thing I would recommend is to hop into the practice mode and just get a general feel for the best lines in the course, figure out how you best like taking turns (cutting the accelerator and turning versus accelerating and strafing when turning, etc) and also figure out when to cut the gas and weave through the exploding snails. I can promise you it is a real (albeit frustrating) skill to dodge those effectively. 3) With energy management things can be very different from race to race. I would say watch your energy like a hawk and see what is causing it to go down to fast (IE, maybe you are boosting to liberally or are cutting into the rails more often than you think for example, in addition to getting bumped around a lot.) Keep playing and you are sure to get better!

    I been watching videos about this game, this one is pretty good but I have a question from a tip that I have heard from others. People mention that you can still use the rocket boost in the beginning as a high risk high reward method. What you do is after rocket boosting you drift quickly L or R depending on what direction/position you face. This will put you in front of the opponent and when your engine stall they will bump into you propelling you forward while they lose their speed. I haven't tried this myself yet but do you think this is a good stragety? I know it is risky but maybe you can get good enough with it to pull it reliably?

  • @TedbearFZ

    While I personally dont use it in 99, that is the optimal startup strategy in F-Zero SNES, I dont believe (and I can be wrong on this bc I dont use it) the speed gain from getting bumped from behind is worth it, but completely stopping the person you launch in front of can be really good, ESPECIALLY if they are a rival racer.

  • @codyflasher7657

    I find it weird everyone says stingray has the best handling. He has the best grip but fox has always had the best turn in which is why he can drift turns no other car can which is why he has been my favorite since the SNES. (Turn in being how fast the car can turn itself when using your sharp steer combined with regular turning.) You can take 180 degree turns without letting off the gas or losing speed. It just takes time to master.

  • @TedbearFZ

    Blast turning/tapping gives the same result in much less time to learn imo, which is mainly why. Also because it doesn't lose grip often, so our not sliding around going off your line.

    I'm going to be doing a video on death wind 1 soon. but it's probably the worst track for stingray. The number one thing I'd say is to boost early to get ahead, and make sure you hit each boost plate every time. Try to use skyway boost when your in a pack as well.

    1) yes and no… Think of 8 points in time (or 8 8th notes). Each dot is 2 points in time (or a 4th note). And go is rhe last point. For Stingray you wait until 3 point have passed which is shortly after the 2nd dot appears. For Falcon it’s 7 points, which is shortly after the last dot appears. For goose it’s 6. For fox it’s 8. These are just relatively close to their actual times, but if you try to always peas gas on the third dot with every vehicle you won’t get a boost with 2 and will stall out with another. 2) there are some machines that are better and worst dependent on if it’s a cup, single race, which track, which cup, and more… Falcon is hands down the worst vehicle overall, but it’s not bad in classic. Foxes and geese are the two best in cups. Foxes are the best on single short tracks, stingrays are the best on longer tracks and tracks that have a lot of turns that lose speed.

    Related questions 1. How do I find out the racing line myself? (Short of looking up a run of F-Zero SNES) 2. Also, is there a "scientific" way to know how to negotiate a curve. Like how should I have known that turning through the damage tiles was the right move in White Land 2? Or how to properly do the S-turn in Silence... 3. How do I know when to let go of the pedal, or when to blast-tap through a corner?

    Game had it's moments but the sweats are taking over and I don't wanna be apart of it. Day 1 was peak for this game because more people were at a similar skill level but now it's one mistake and you're being sent back 40-50 places. Also the inability to practice with the skylane makes it a matter of trial and error to find out where it's optimal to use, which is impossible because the length of it isn't set. Overall a very confused game but good for those who can actually have fun playing it.

    what? You can get bumped by another player if you do the "hold boost" at the start. It's completely possible and i do it constantly. Just do the hold boost and then spin to get in a good position and get a good bump.

    i absolutely loved the concept of this game but i hope they add a mode with less players, because i want to feel i win only because of my skill, and not by lucky things.

    I know this is old and you may have already corrected it, but the very first tip is just dead wrong. The best moment to hit the "gas" is right at the start of the match. It's high risk - high reward.

    It really depends on the machines accelerations. For example with fire stingray, id say the consistency of doing it at the third ellipse to get that guaranteed boost start is worth it more rather than risking getting none for a better one simply due to how bad its acceleration is. With the golden fox it doesn't really matter, and with the BF and WG it kinda goes up to the player.

    I feel Goose takes minimal effort in comparison to other machines when you have patience. Fox takes the most skill when knowing you have critical health values most of the time and while I'm glad they nerfed Stingray from the original because well let's face it, he was the best and everyone would be using him, he is still the distant third pick for most people. Using Falcon, however, was dissatisfaction in a nutshell and felt completely useless when playing at high levels.
