I have the MAV7700AWW and like many others had an issue with the C clip. I noticed when I took the old washers off there was a spring-type washer that was not in the new kit - which probably made the assembler's life a whole lot easier getting that C clip on. I also noticed that the plastic collar did not seat flush against the new metal roller bearing, so I did end up squeezing to two together prior to assembly with my needlenose pliers but I still had an issue with that C clip. I used my flathead screwdriver and inserted it into the groove where the C clip goes to push back the new assembly as far as I could while inserting the ends of the C clip, but it was still a bugger to get that C clip on. Not nearly as easy as the tutorial makes it look, but doable.

My washer is 20 years old. About 10 years ago this repair was needed re wet clothes after the spin cycle. I used the thin washer then and it worked. Ten years later clothes were getting wetter again. Again I used the thin washer, it placed the arrow where it should be when rotated but did not cure the wet clothes. With no other option I placed the thick washer in. Although I shaved the edge of the C clip retainer, not enough of the groove was exposed to get it on no matter what I did. However, I solved it and perhaps the solution might help others. Using a Dremmel I ground the edge of the washer down at an angle on the outer facing side, exposing the groove and allowing relatively easy insertion of the clip. The machine now works fine again - the thick washer did the trick. Great video.

The C clip was a pain in the butt! My 1999 MAV7600AWW washer stopped spinning, and the pulley was totally trashed inside. We had to file down the C clip ends to even get it close to the channel. But now everything works awesome, and the spin cycle almost dries the clothes for me! We also replaced the belt since it was trashed, too. Thanks for the help!!

Great video. I did have a lot of trouble with getting the C clip back in. I had to go out and buy a long pair of needlenose pliers, and I had to make sure that the smooth side of the C clip was against the washer. Thanks, you saved me $100.

My washing machine had a problem where it was not spinning, I turned it on while tilted to watch the belt operating and it seems to be working fine. Turns out to be a broken E-Clip, the whole pulley assembly was just falling off the main rod... Replaced from Lowes at ~$2. Works as a charm now!

Great video! I would like to add the following notes for diagnostics. My washer could agitate and pump water but wouldn’t spin. Years before the thrust bearing failed the washer would squeal when the spin cycle would stop. Near the end the washer would make noise during the cycle and it sounding like plastic cracking/grinding. The E-Clip is hard to insert. I used RoboGrip pliers from Sears and made sure the Lower Cam was rotated until the maximum shaft was exposed. Hopefully this additional information helps somebody.

This is a great How-To repair video. However, it would be nice if you could spend 30 seconds on the front side to help diagnose the problems created by a worn thrust bearing. You state 3 things, two of them are operational and probably easier to figure out. The "Washer is Noisy" is a little vague. It would be fantastic IF you could give an example of what to listen for. Thanks for the Repair Tutorial!!!

Based on the info available here, I replaced the Thrust bearing, thinking it wasn't disengaging and allowing the tub to spin. In the end I needed to replace the Pump, as the bearing was shot and it was seizing up and preventing the tub from spinning consistently.
