    Exceptional How-To video! Clear, simple,’s step-by-step walk-through that made replacing the washing machine boot/seal totally doable by someone who has never done this before. Took me a bit over an hour as my model was slightly different than the one here, but overall a very doable project. Thank you so much!

I highly recommend this video compared to any of the other 5-6 videos I attempted to use....I didn’t even make it through half of them because they either left out info or were reminiscent of an early MTV music video. The spring on the wire which attaches the bellow has definitely been stretched out a bit...the wire for my bellow won't even stretch to the 1 o'clock position and this guy has it stretching all the way over to the 2 o'clock position. I really need a third arm to wrestle this wire into place. Great video,very helpful and informative, thanx.

    Great video! My boot replacement was a breeze thanks to you. I originally watched a different video, which was not exactly my model, indicating that I would need special spring tools and that I'd have to disconnect wiring and remove the counter weights, with an estimated job time of about an hour. I only had to remove the top panel, control panel (no disconnecting of wiring), bottom panel and door and needed no special tools besides a torx 20 driver. It took about 15 minutes. Cheers!

    Another excellent, helpful Appliance Parts Pros video. Agree with other positive Comments. Perfect, easy-to-follow steps and procedure flow. On a DIY scale of 1 thru 5, with 5 being the hardest, I'd say this job was a 2-3. Definitely a task most people can do. Just requires some patience. Main difference between my experience and what is seen in this video is that I spent approx. 8-9 hrs altogether - incl. initial troubleshooting, establishing what is needed to fix, researching DIY videos, ordering parts, making notes + 2 hrs cleaning all of the parts I took off + incl washer innards + cleaning area behind washer prior to re-install. Only a DIYer would do all that making a much more complete, thorough job than if done by service technician. If I did this again I could get the total time, incl. ordering parts down to 4-5 hrs. One other detail: When disassembling I removed the plastic soap tube that connects to the rubber bellow tub seal at the 10 o’clock position. It was caked with detergent, etc so I removed and cleaned. When I re-installed I added a 2-1/4” diameter pipe clamp to the upper end where this tube connects to the bottom of the plastic soap tray. I could foresee the possibility of that connection leaking, which if it happened would require you to disassemble the washer again. This video -- which only applies to this specific washer rubber door seal has been screened 263,000 times in the past 8 years. Gives you an idea of how common this fix is. Over the years I have bought many replacement parts from APP for a wide variety of appliances. Matt -- the technician-teacher is indeed “the Bob Ross of appliance repair”. Thanks again. Keep up the terrific work!

    Thank you for the helpful video! My wife and I just replaced our tub seal, following your steps very closely. I think we're good, but one thing we noticed is that the door doesn't stay closed as securely any longer. Once we start the wash machine, the door locks, so we don't have a problem with leaking -- that much is good! I will take the front cover off again and re-evaluate the placement of the locking mechanism.

    This repair can be carried out without having to remove all the panels. This can be done through the door itself. I have a washer dryer setup, with the dryer being on top of the washer. So getting the dryer off the washer is a tedious task. I would literally have to disconnect everything. I was able to remove and install the seal just by gaining access from the door. The final inside clamp was a bit difficult due to limited access. But with a mirror it wasn't too difficult to line up. Thanks for the video!

    Matt and appliance part.com have the easiest to understand videos. I had an F5E2 error and an occasional leak across the top of the bellows. I found that the larch hook on door was a little loose. Checked and error code was still there. I didn’t know to how to delete codes. Manual was taped inside the bottom front panel. Inside the lower front panel is the drain pump with attached filter. I cleaned years of coins and other debris from the filter. No more leaking and I don’t need a new bellows. The loose door hook and the high water volume caused by the clogged pump filter were the problem

    Excellent video. I'm told that the bellows that have been installed are failing prematurely. The reason is that people overtighten the clamp. I looked at several videos but this by far was the BEST :-) GREAT TIP on marking the band that holds the bellow in place!!!! Since the bellow is rubber I'm guessing I could have easily tightened it more, which I'm guessing may not be a good thing! Without marking it I wouldn't have had any idea how tight to make it when putting it back on. One other video did not take the panel or front door off which sounds like a great time saver BUT I think it would have been way more frustrating trying to take the band of and even more trouble getting the bellow and band back on!! The only frustrating thing is that there are SO MANY varieties of washers that each seem to have a different trick to getting the control panel off :-( This frustration is not directed at you, its just a fact, not something you could have done better in the video unless you made 100 videos, one for each model :-D Thanks SO MUCH for putting this video out there, I can't tell you how much time and aggravation you saved me!

    Oh, almost forgot... as someone else mentioned it was a nice tip on using the vice grips to get the spring wire back on. I'm sure I would have thought of this myself, but then again maybe not :-) Instead of vice grips though, I used pliers (couldn't find my vice grips). I think piers may actually better, since you can let go of the wire by letting go of the pliers. With the vice grips it's a little trickier to disengage them and I used my other hand to help keep the wire from slipping off while I let go of the pliers.

    Thanks! My washer has a dryer stacked on top so taking the top off is not practical. Why do you have to take off the front? Can the repair be done without removing switches and panel?

    Great video. I replaced my bellows but not the door won't stay closed. If I hold it shut and start the washer it temporarily locks, the tub begins to move but quickly the lock light goes off and the washer stops. I did not have this problem before I did the repair, what did I do wrong?

    Good video. However, I just did this repair. Let me assure you, 100% that the top and front do not have to come off. In my case, it was a stacking washer/dryer. It was custom built in to a closet so it would have taken an hour just to get the dryer off and pulled out You just need a 90 degree drill adapter, to get the inside screw clamp off.

    What is the name of the plastic part that you pull the tub seal off of?

  • @george420
    @george4204 жыл бұрын

    If your hands are small enough. And depending on where the tensioner screw is positioned for the inside wire loop. Its is totally possible to replace the seal without taking any panels off at all.

    My bellow adheres right to the washing machine without a clamp. Like it's glued there. Is this normal? It is a whirlpool wfw9050xw03. We just purchased a bellow replacement and cant continue on with the repair because the old bellow is apparently glued to the washing machine? Any advice?

    I took my washer apart today and the secondary lip on the plastic seemed to be broken off in some parts. Is this going to effect the washing process or causing leaking issues or is it less crucial ?

    This video was extremely helpful and I completed it in about an hour due to a few hiccups along the way. Using the vise grips for installing the retaining ring to the front panel is a MUST. DO NOT overtighten the screws on the lock mechanism when reinstalling the front panel/door. It caused the lock not to engage and I could not run the washer. MOST IMPORTANTLY: be careful not to knock the fill tube from the dispenser off while removing the tub seal or installing the new one. Apparently the seal that connects the fill tube to the dispenser is notoriously bad and cannot be reused without leaking. I discovered it was leaking after running a test load (fell off three times while putting the new tub seal on). Do yourself a favor and just order the dispenser seal (8181747).
