    Thanks for the straight forward demonstration without a lot of filler. Too many videos have the presenter telling us about their last holiday or something similar.

    For years I have been silver soldering bandsaw blades. I overlap by the same as the blade width. The ends need to be heated to a dull red to anneal them. File or grind the ends to half their thickness. You may need to make a simple jig to hold the blade for soldering. Flux up and overlap the ends. Cut off a tiny bit of silver solder and put it next to the joint, heat with a small blow lamp till the solder flows. Use a flat ended tool to press the ends of the blade together. When cool, do not cool in water! Trim with a small file till the thickness of the blade is less than the thickness measured across the tooth set.

    This video would be vastly improved if the camera were pointed at the work, not the speaker for most of the video.

    I got a ideal welder and grinder that I weld our blades for but I always have trouble with the 1/2 or smaller blades on the annealing stage and they keep breaking.. have any idea what I should do differently

    Hi! When you pressure weld a bandsaw blade,one or both holding jaws move closer to each other thus creating the pressure. Could you tell me how much is that movement? About a 10th of an inch if I were to guess. Or less,50 thousands? Appreciate any help! Thank you!

    Please change the title to: "HOW TO USE A BANDSAW BLADE WELDER." If someone asks how to weld a blade, "use a blade welder" is sort of not an answer.

    They ARE designed to be ground that way and it is the only flat/straight edge of small round wheel!!! You use this wheels side to 'square' the blade edge, then on the top of the wheel to grind flat each face. Imagine trying to hold a bandsaw blade vertical to get a flat edge on the round part of the wheel. No Eninsteins here 😆

    Well I mean most of the industrial bandsaws like these have their own built in band welding stations built on. I'm on my first day of technical school and we have these and practiced this... any dingus knows if you don't have this you're better off just buying new blade bands.

    KZread is not just for noobs and people who never touch industrial equipment. Many non-industrial users own full size industrial machine tools or are hunting one or want to buy or fab a blade welder. That's why I'm here. I've access to my bros blade welder so I'm going to buy blade cheap in bulk then spend a day welding a bunch. It used to be common to weld one's own blades for much smaller saws like smaller horizontals many hobbyists buy used. Separate blade welders are still available and they can be separated from a scrapped saw (more than a few KZread viewers work on machine tools too).

    The most useless tool I have seen lately! I would use a router and be through before one would get started with this gadget?

  • @Comm0ut

    @Comm0ut

    How would a router weld a band saw blade? That should be an interesting video and get MANY views. Resistance welding is how band saw blades are joined in production and is older than anyone watching KZread. Those welders have been standard on industrial machines for a very long time since a bulk roll of blade is cheaper by the foot, cheaper by far to ship and supports making multiple blade lengths all of which should have been obvious.

    @@Comm0ut I was referring to cuting a circle out of a board. I don't think many cabinet shops have the tool you used? In my shop Time is costly. I ,personally would love to have a set up like yours but I feel the cost would we to excessive?

    I got a good ha ha out of your comment about not spontaneous combusting. Most people don't know about this or regard it as a fable, which it isn't. Very nice complete instruction on the blade welding as well. What is the process for bi-metalic blades or are they considered throw aways?
